Five Nights At Freddy’s is an incredibly popular video game with a deep lore that people seem to be obsessed with. But does a jump-scary video game translate well to a two-hour-long feature film with minimal jumpscares and a whole lot of sleeping?
Five Nights At Freddy’s definitely raises some questions. Like why are we spending so much time in a field of dreams? How is there only like one jumpscare in this thing? How does William Afton actually control these things, and how does knowing he’s evil change that for them? Does that cop not have any cop stuff to do?

If nothing else, Ryan George is a man of his friggin word. In his last Revisited episode, he answered a question about 'what happened to the 'get off my back' phrase?' He said he forgot it was a thing and would use it in the next episode. And he kept his word and used it here. Ryan, if you see this, thank you for just being an honest and upstanding guy. You deserve all the respect.
I caught that (the original comment and now him actually following through) and I came to the comments specifically to find anyone mentioning it! So, thank you
I guess it makes sense to forget as "Hey shut up" does a similar thing. Both are funny, though maybe alternating between them can increase variety.

I also liked how the aunt was wealthy enough to pay a lawyer to follow her around all the time, offer 1k to trash a pizza joint, but also be desperate for the social security check for the girl (which was clearly a lot of money considering Mike's opulent lifestyle...)
Admittedly SS checks where both parents have passed is about $300-$500 a month. A one time $1k would be nothing compared to monthly checks like that, but also monthly checks like that isn't enough to live on without a job either, clearly.
I would agree on the lawyer thing, but he didn't clearly look like no expensive lawyer either.... just saying.
I think a lot of people "watched" this movie, but didn't actually pay attention.

Take the $500 and then subtract the amount needed to take care of Abby every month and it just doesn't seem worth it. Not to mention the big risk she took of going to prison for executing all of the illegal activity.
When Yellow Rabbit was unmasked to be revealed as career counselor it felt like an episode of Scooby Doo. Add to the fact He was played by Matthew Lillard who portrayed Shaggy. Felt like alternate universe where Mystery Inc.'s gang is animatronics.
Omg I didn't even realise yellow bunny was the career counselor the whole time I was like "oh I know this actor"
Lillard did also play Stu Macher in the original Scream, so getting unmasked as a serial killer is also not new for him.
That just makes it better haha
Speaking of which, someone actually made a scooby foo meets spring trap and I have to say it genuinely felt like a Scooby foo episode. Give it a watch.

I seriously hope the games r better than the plot he just explained because I have ZERO interest in watching it based on what I heard..it sounds like a straight cheese ass b flick you would see late at night on tv 🤦

Producer Guy does really love money, and he's okay with that.
My 13 year old son made me take him to this last weekend - I'm a 48 year old man - I had no idea what the fuck was going on and it made not a lick of sense - but I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would - if nothing else I laughed my arse of at all the stupid.
@@kyleferguson4236 I took my 13 year old son to it, also had no interest in it and expected an excruciating experience - instead I spent most of the movie laughing my head off as the film tried to be scary and failed. I was literally the oldest person in the theatre mind you - all the teens were gasping and jumping at the obvious jump scares. Anyway, in the end I had fun - though probably not in the way the film makers intended.
Love how Ryan actually did bring back the "get all the way off of my back" catchphrase back after he was reminded abouth this in the last Revisited episode. A man of his word.

Love the part where Mike has to get his super special "remember my brother" sleep at work instead of just sleeping during the day like you'd normally do on Night Shift.

As someone who's brand-new to all this lore, the most fantastical thing about the FNAF universe to me is that a closed-down pizzeria needs a night watchman instead of doing what every other restaurant does and just lock the door.
You see the Thing about Horror movies is that they dont need to have a believable premise. In that regard, Porn and Horror have the same roots. People come to feel their blood movement changing in various parts of their body and aslong as that happens, nobody cares if that was "believably" achieved. lol

My entire theater started claping at the "I always come back" line, and I was just there assuming it meant something and clapping out of pure peer presure.
If you hadn't clapped, everyone in the theatre's eyes would've turned red and they would'a targeted you. You did good.
I just assumed it was the standard “leave the door open for a sequel” type of thing horror movies sometimes do.
The Villian William Afton is known for having thought to have been dead but came back several times. And that's basically his catch phrase.

The animatronics being real was a such a huge breath of fresh air in this age if overusing CGI.
not at all felt like the movie was low budget and the acting was meh. also it makes sense to use one here. they dont need to show anything that doesnt exist in our world. youre someone who thinks CGI = bad because im so smart i know when theye using cgi

MatPat is in the movie too?! I had no idea! I haven't seen it and don't plan to since I'm not the biggest FNAF fan but I had no idea MatPat was in it! He's the biggest one I know so that's a cool surprise!
I never thought I would compare these two movies…but I think FNAF could have benefited from Night at the Museum’s story structure. Like having the basic lore taken care of first night, then gradually the MC finds out more relevant info. Also the twist villain appearing more than once so their reveal ACTUALLY has some weight to it.
Tbh, i didn’t even realise William Afton was the career councillor when the twist happened, since it was so long ago in the movie😅
@@Jackn17_what’s even weirder is idk why they gave him a fake name, other than the books did that with the name Dave Miller, because it’s not like it was some big mystery on learning it wasn’t his real name and they didn’t say the name of the owner anyway until the end, as well as the movie announced to everyone that Matthew Lilard was going to play William anyway, so what was the point in trying the twist? Was it just for the new people?

The remark about the cupcake getting the most screen time and the whole dream sequence really hit home for me.
For me it felt like Foxy had the most time.
For me it was the observation about how Mike is going to be incriminated as a prime suspect for the dead aunt after bringing in a stabbed police officer

I was reading the comments JUST FOR THIS.
I like to think he was rendering the completed video and realized that he had said that and then had to do a quick rewrite and shoot that additional scene.

" the rat race " is a comedy movie I've watched 4~ times on yt for free. I recommend it if you're looking for something to laugh.
I loved that they stayed relatively faithful to the actual source material. The practicality done animatronics were a really good idea since it literally looks like they were lifted from the game. Sure there were some weird changes or inconsistencies, but I'd take this over the shitty Resident Evil Netflix show any day.
Also I love how the Cupcake had more sass in this, it's a weird thing in the game since it never does anything but I like how it just narrows its eyes at people like "oh you did not just do that" and jumps at them. It has the highest kill count out of all the other animatronics haha.
Fnaf was good but it had potential to be better. Like much better. Hopefully FNAF 2 will fix the mistakes made in the first one
As someone who never played FNAF, I think this Pitch Meeting was enough for me forever

The video games do a good job of building tension and atmosphere. The movie started off “meh” and got progressively worse from there.
I only played the first game at the time. Didnt get past five minutes, is garbage so no clue how it got so much success. The movie comes too late but i see the brand recognition is still relevant enough to make lots of money.

I cracked up about the dead aunt and injured cop taken to the hospital as just being "resolved" because "the movie's over." Really lost it at the "big reveal" being Lillard as William Afton. Because I made the SAME damn jokes about it after I watched it. And it was those jokes that immediately got me thinking about a Pitch Meeting... And here we are. What a wonderful day, indeed.

I love this so much and was also able to see the film a couple times and enjoy it for what it was but it does have some issues. I just hope the writers and directors step it up when writing the sequels. I love that it was able to bring the community back once again and let's hope they expand more on the lore and the animatronics.
And just like the movie, that MatPat cameo was certainly a cameo.

Glad you mentioned vanessa's only sole purpose in this movie is to info dump the lore because the writers couldnt think of a less subtle way to explain the conflict to the audience
That and she's a cop so you would think she would have to do reports, provide information about her location, and how long she was there and why. Nope, instead she just drives to her father's abandoned building telling security guards all the detailed information about the place and why its closed... except for the fact that her father is the very person/reason why the place is closed down.
I also thought she was giving Mike a lot of bedroom eyes during some of their dialogue scenes together.
Not for nothing but a kids movie based on a children's scary game with no story to begin with really doesn't need to do better than that. It was made to capitalize off suckers who'd see it regardless

3:20 Technically we don't see the aunt be killed we just see her lying on the floor, so we can't know for sure that she is dead, just knocked out.
The best way to adapt a franchise well known for hiding its story in obscure details and making the players piece it together is to have a character tell the audience the story verbatim, right?

@@jossypoo There's quite a few of them and all these sources have different stories with some similar elements. There's too much effort to try and keep things mysterious where honestly, the series just me. Like, it's not even for the sake of story anymore and there's just contradictions and random retcons all the time. Scott be making that money though
I will say, there was a small mistake: Vanessa threatened to shoot him after Abby got injured on accident because the animatronics are just that dangerous. You can see a throughline of her being optimistic about the situation, then having trauma reaction to Abby's injury due to her past, then threatening to shoot him. Not a tonal shift or plot hole because there's a scene in-between those two things where the change happens because the murder machines are made for murder no matter how friend-shaped they are.

The best part of the FNAF script is that nobody ever had to worry about plot holes - the entire “lore” of FNAF is one giant plot hole.

I'm just so happy you kept your promise about throwing in another "let me get off of that thing." I gotta say, though, seeing this movie as someone who barely remembers any of the baroque mythology from the handful of Game Theory videos I saw about it 5 years ago or w/e, they did pretty good at wiping that stuff clean and presenting the mythology in a concise, consistent way with clearly defined rules and history. That's way more than you can say for the "make it up as we go along" style the games have had.
...I'm not gonna say that it was the most coherent, or was delivered in a sensible way, or anything like that, but it was at the very least consistent and understandable to the viewer. I guess it's kind of a low bar to cross but when you're dealing with these games it's not nothing!
I am glad they called out the Inconsistency of Vanessa's character. I thought Producer Guy would ask how the animatronics knew where Mike and Abby lived, but "With what money?" was better 😅
Vanessa seems inconsistent because she is conflicted with being a good cop and doing the right thing or obey her dad. It's simple enough.
@@soul6733 If she was any kind of "good cop" she would have turned her Dad in for murdering 6 kids years ago. She was as dumb as the rest of the movie was. Still, it was funny as hell.

I watched the movie having only vaguely remembered the games up until fnaf 3, and let me tell you, saying "I always come back" before seemingly dying is a power move!
Never thought that one of my dreams was to have Matpat show up in not only the fnaf movie but also a pitch meeting video BUT I LOVE IT

Great video! As a fnaf fan, I approve this pitch meeting. By the way, the animatronic that killed the aunt was Golden Freddy, which in the fnaf 1 game was a mysterious animatronic that appeared almost randomly and it could teleport and stuff. Basically, the aunt was killed by the "leader" of the animatronics (the golden haired kid), that's why it could get to the house (it most likely did not take a cab).
So probably used the aunt's money
Golden Freddy in the games has always been way more powerful/supernatural then the normal animatronics. He can literally teleport. Him finding where you live and appearing in your home is not a stretch at all for him. That powerful

So, William Afton is the career counselor. Since the owner of Freddy's was not shown, it is my guess that William owns the place, which would make him Mike's employer, so he could, in theory, supply both the money for the taxi and Mike's address, since he would have those things.

Huge dumps are tight! I actually enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Taking the convoluted, bonkers story that this franchise has and combining simplifying it as they did in a still enjoyable experience. They did the best they could and did good. Part of the issue with it is that this kid murdering franchise has somehow became a favorite for little kids so… yeah 🤷🏻♂️

The guy made monetized fake-crying videos checking all the boxes of RUclips drama videos (popularized like 10-15 years ago, artificially designed to evoke emotional response) about his editor's suicide and some MCN stealing his and dozens of other channels' money. The latter is especially cynical and obvious, given the clickbait title, how long he took to get to the point and to name the MCN (which should have been the absolutely first thing to do IF his goal was to warn people of the scam, but clearly it wasn't). He's made an entire series of videos of how to optimize videos to appease the algorithms, and these videos follow the formula, whereas a sane person would have put that aside to deliver their urgent message clearly.
I cannot fathom how people still see him as a normal human being.
