I think the most important thing/rule of thumb with this yarn is to be open to experimenting with the way you do it until you get it to work, so for me that meant changing the hook size several times in the rounds to get the colour to change at the right time. To be more specific, sometimes I need to do the first and the third stitch in the cluster with a 6mm hook and then the second middle stitch with a 6.5mm or vice versa, then the next round I will often need to change it up again, but the joy I get when I get it to line up just right is for me, worth the time it takes to get there. One of the reasons I am willing to do this though is because I can't get this yarn easily or straightforwardly because of where I live. I get it in mill ends bags, completely at random, so I have to search through a big container of bags that just have random packs in them, some are the granny square yarn and some are just any other random yarn, so you have to just hope you can find the colour you're looking for, there's never a guarantee! So after all that if I can get a bag of the colour I'm after I am willing to go through the trial and error method previously explained until I can get it to work, mainly because I'm insanely persistent when I want something badly enough! I haven't been able to find all the colourways I've wanted though and there's not as much available as there used to be, funnily enough that pink/blue/black one that you were showing us has been the hardest one to find, have only ever found one ball of it in a mixture bag before, so never even a complete bag and I've been looking for many months now, so to have the option to just walk into a store and buy the exact one that you want straight off the shelf, well I wish that was something I could do, however I have been quite lucky overall in my scavenger hunt search and have found many now of the ones I like, so am grateful for that! There's some in the range that I've never seen and don't know if we'll ever get them, but the mystery search is still fun regardless! Anyway, that is why I'm willing to make the squares the way I do, as just to get the yarn to make them at all is in itself an achievement, but worth it when it works out! ☔🌞
@alwayslearning9272 I fist got this color ordering it online when it came out and it was the only color they had left and not the color I wanted. I finally found the beige one in the store one day and picked it up. I think they are clearancing them out in my Joann's and the only one I see now is the purple and black. I am glad you found a way to make it work for you.
Hi Tina. You really gave it a good try. I think it's probably fine as just another variegated yarn but the fussy aspect of trying to make it work for its intended purpose I'd not for me.
I don't think the moss stitch makes the plaid. I did see a person do a modified granny square ( clusters of two instead of 3, skipping chain spaces or not skipping chain spaces, changing needle size constantly). I think it's to long of colors to make a moss stitch
It sounds like even the good old college try didn’t work. Don’t knock yourself out. When I first heard about the granny square yarn I smelled a chaotic mess. No thanks. The idea was good, but the execution is not possible.
I enjoyed your videos and hated this yarn didn't work for you. In my opinion you got some bad runs of yarn. I have had to stick with mine because I'm making the cardigan. I have different experiences with different colors of this yarn. I use a 10.0 hook and slip stitch on the top until I get to a new cluster. I can't relax and enjoy myself with this yarn.
That’s a weird thing for someone to say about you being biased. We’re all picky. I’m a snob when it comes to small skeins of yarn. 🧶 Ignore those comments. 🤗🧶
They work great for me perfectly.
@gcroissant3675 I have a video coming out tomorrow on the flower one and that one I was really happy with.

Wow that’s wild. It does look really cool but probably not worth the effort. I really do want to try planned pooling sometime. I love your scarf!!
You’re pooled piece that you showed a pic of looked so good! Also, crocheting for 40 years?! Gurl I thought you were in your late 30s lol werk!
@nightowlcrochet thank you. Thank you for thinking I was that young too 😊 I will be 50 in April.
It doesn't matter what it looks like, They are very beautiful
@@gcroissant3675 Thank you

Yup, just not worth the headache.
Another channel did the planned pooling in the granny stitch 3 dbl in one stitch. Maybe try that. Sorry dont remember the channel name.
Yeah I saw that too, thinking about trying it next.
Very pretty. ❤
@@AlrakWeaver Thank you

@user-eg2sm1jz2b I do, it actually cracked me up that someone would even think that.
