I’ve definitely got the blues & I can feel this song in my heart & blood 🩸 flowing through my veins. Maybe one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Salute 🫡.
Was lucky to frequent Blues bars in Chicago,(late 90’s early 2000s)got down with the band at Mama Rosas! Great times! Melvin can tear it up with the best of them !
I played this song once when I was driving a long black 56 Cadillac. The chrome had been polished, the tires rotated, and the oil changed. It ran smooth as whiskey. That was the best driving experience I ever had
If you didn’t have a Puerto Rican shine, the chrome up, that experience could’ve been way better. Lol if it drove as smooth as whiskey, then you sound like an alcoholic, because every whiskey I had made me act a fool, but I AM grateful I have to “act” to be the fool, most I AM meeting these days are fools 24/7! Peace! Long live THE BLUES! Whoever does not love the blues has a hole in their soul just like Albert King told them.
My first time to hear him. I saw Stevie a lot and I thought he defined the song but this is a step forward.I can hear Stevie and Hendrix in this. I saw Stevie very often
I know it 5 years later ...but welcome to the future I guess.....I'm from Fairmont W.V...original home of Johnnie Johnson...Theres an old old pentecostal church there with a family of insane musicians ...all Johnsons....My belief us that Johnny took that piano led church music...and changed the world with it...I currently jam with a guy who learned to play blues guitar from following the piano lady...hes really hard to follow until u learn thus trick...I've been in jChurch jam's where NOBODY knew the songs...but basically followed that piano..its a sacred sound...Sooooo.....your Daddy wrote those songs....That is sooooo cool....Do u play yourself
IF one is wishes to compare MT's version to SRV... well they are different, but SRV's 2:30 min intro is untouchable... sublime... simply the best. Stevie's is a bit slower and "steamier" imo. Anyway, i like them both, for different reasons. Cheers, blues fans.
I saw Melvin Taylor at Rosa's in Chicago right before covid lock down 2/22/2020 and it was a freekin Great Show. One of his neighborhood pals Pistol Pete sat in on the last set.. (check out Pistol Pete on RUclips) He said he was going on a European tour then moving to San Francisco. I hope all turned out well for Melvin he is a true musical Legend
I have to admit this is my first time in 62 years of living that I have heard of this Man and he is a bad ass guitarists and I thought BB and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton were some bad dudes on the Blues lead guitar but they ain't got nothing on Melvin Taylor.
Melvin's version of Tin Pan is the only one that literally makes me feel like I'm there.

Melvin is one of the best blues guitarist's on the planet.
Abso-fucking-lutely correct
I used to go down to Rosa's in Chicago with a very good friend to watch Melvin & The Slack Band in the 90's
He’s playing at Rosa’s the next two days, 12/1/17 and 12/2

Music expresses your feelings more than words

I'm embarrassed to say this is the first time I've heard his name, the dude is truly amazingly talented.
I love the lyrics my grandfather wrote great songs and this is one of them. He also wrote the thrill is gone originally by Robert Geddins.

When is my idol coming to NYC?

In terms of guitar with this song the live Stevie ray version with Copeland was my fav but the vocals on this on the truth
Does anyone like his singing better than Stevie Ray Vaughn's or is it just me?
I do
Glad I'm not alone.
NorthpawJinx much better
NorthpawJinx it's just alround better to be honest.
Not better or worse, but different. Both kick ass in different ways.
What guitar, please?
better100%
I like this version more the Steves
You do understand that Stevie has hundreds of different versions of this song. Every time he played it live he played it very differently....
This version is great. But I like both. Just different.
It is an excellent version. SRV was awesome regardless, Melvin Taylor did an awesome job, too.

fait vibrer jusqu'au petites ardennes en France!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cazzo!! Yeah!
My Guy Melvin's version, makes SRV's pale in comparison. Big up's to Mama Rosa and Tony D'Owner.
