Gluten is what gives breads their chewiness, so alcohol (including rum) may be used in the manner shown in the video to give bready products a flakier texture rather than a chewier. This is just something to keep in mind, because some recipes like Sourdough are recipes where you obviously want a chewy texture. Others like this cake you want very flaky and fluffy, as you notice when Apron breaks apart the cake, it has very little bend before breaking apart. Happy Baking!

Absolutely delicious! I made the mistake of baking this in a bigger loaf pan, so mine is very short, but still super delicious! Thinking of doubling the recipe for my loaf pan and just figuring out how to adjust the temp and bake time. Husband loves it too!

There is baking soda (food grade) in it. Here, it's a simple cake. The real 4/4 recipe is for 100g of flour, 100g of butter, 100g of sugar and 100g of eggs. Same proportions of ingredients. It is IMPOSSIBLE to rise a dough without yeast. In this recipe, NO whipped cream is used. You can incorporate whipped egg white, it will rise, but not as well.
Dear Apron I don't know whether that's your name but I just wanted to share a tip I picked up from my mom. When you add egg to your butter and sugar mixture, just sprinkle a teaspoon of flour on top and your batter will not split.
