I just discovered your channel, amazing videos. Specially this spotlight and the interview with professionals about the most suitable plants for the window sills my favorite! Thanks for that! Greetings from London 🙋🏻♂️
My first Nepenthes was Nepenthes burkei. I have a north facing widow so I rely on some extra light, mine is growing under some "T5" style LED plant lights. It has vined very long, about 5 feet. I think I've had it for about 5 years. It was my first and I didn't kill it! :)
This was a great video. I love N. burkei. I love members of the ventricosa family. I actually love ventricosa and think it's very cute and actually looks like a pitcher. Oh man I love Burkei too. I have mind inside but most my nepenthes hate windowsill life with me. I'm thinking of putting it outside after Valentine's Day because my plants grow best outdoors for me. But yeah, I think this is really the same as ventricosa as far as super easy and should be used for hybrids. Oh btw, an unrelated note. I know the H is silent in French but please try to pronounce it. I often misunderstand what you say though I figure it out eventually from context. Just too many words become other words that changes the meaning of the sentence. For example Highland = Island. I thought you were saying "Island" until realized you were talking about highland plants. Heat = eat. This happened in another video where you said something like, instead of "Heat the plants." "Eat the plants." Ha ha that shocked me. Nepenthes salad! Hair became air. "No air under the plant." That confused me too until I realized what you meant. Anyway I did like the video a lot especially when you showed the amazing growth progress.
@@WindowsillNepenthes Oh one more thing. It would be nice to see you make a video about staking nepenthes that have become long and tell. What kind of sticks do you use and where do you find them? You might have a video like this already. I will check but thought about it when I saw your taller plants. EDIT: Never mind I found it. I will watch it now. Don't know how I missed that.
What a beautiful plant! Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this species - now I want to grow it too! I have about a dozen carnivorous plants, but only got my first Nepenthes this year. I'm growing Nepenthes 'Viking', do you have a video about this one?
Super glad to here these are beginner! I got a Spectaballis x Veichii and through ignorance slightly neglected (I gave it a cold dark winter!!). I've since been researching - your videos are a great source - and buying kit, like an open top fish tank, grow light, and moving the plant into my office! So far the Spectaballis is thriving, regrowing all the lost pitchers and even getting a pink blush on the new leaves. I just purchased a Burkei x (burbidgeae x edwardsiana) and a Glabrata x Veitchii to help fill out the tank, and I cant wait for them to arrive.
Thanks for the video! I’ve been growing reinwardtiana, maxima x aristolochiodes, burbidgaea x veitchii, maxima x ramispina, ampullaria x (sibuyanensis x ventricosa)Diana, and a khasiana x (ventricosa x maxima) Gaya. All this grown on my windowsill and so far no issues, average temperature is 75-80f(26c) during the day and 65f(18c)at night. What do you think about these on a windowsill?
@@WindowsillNepenthes Ha thanks, I’ve been growing nepenthes for less than a year so not sure if I would have the most experience. I recently got a Glandulifera x (lowii x truncata) and just hoping it grows well on the windowsill. I have been experimenting with more and more complex plants.
@@WindowsillNepenthes Nice shop. Following. I may get a shirt from here as well. but I meant the blue and white one during the animation. That shirt is epic.
I have problem with my nephente. It loss all 8 pitchers in a few days and the New one is becoming soft. Leaves are becoming soft and yellow too :/ It can be because of winter or less temperature than in the summer? I had 22-24°C in the room and now I have 18-20. My plant is under the window so the light is all day but not the strongest one I wrap hole pot in a bubble wrap to keep warm, will it help?
Ok so without ID (check in 3 weeks I have a video about that) I will guess: - How long do you have the plant at this place? - Do you have proper drainage? - A lack of light would give this pale green leaves and it would also stop the pitcher production but not really soften the new pitchers. - Too cold could stress the plant but bubble wrap wouldn't help. A Heat-Matt would tho.

i like these spotlight videos. they focus only on one specific plant and provide the important information about that SPECIFIC plant. thanks
Thanks! I'll do this kind of spotlight from time to time.
Salut Rémi !
I also grow N. burkei, in my italian shower exactly 😄
Very nice plant that pitchers easily, very underated indeed !

@@WindowsillNepenthes Sure ! I have spathulata in the shower too and in my terrarium : hamata, lowii, ventricosa 'porcelain' + 19 baby edwardsiana 😁

I'll definitively try to master this H and improve my spelling. Over time it should improve (I hope! Hahaha)

N. Viking (mirabilis var. globosa) need warm temp that I can't provide. I have N. mirabilis but it's not pitchering home. I can't grow Lowland here.
@@WindowsillNepenthes So far mine has been producing lovely foliage, but no pitchers either!
