    this is like ebay roadkill/dirteveryday. the series/video format where you rescue a vehicle and take it out on an adventure is my favorite. save more jeeps, even a rusty jeep will still get you there

    All three episodes were a blast to watch. I used to sport an 81 wagoneer and now have a modified 82 cherokee. You are right about the rear overhang! And it was a lot of fun seeing you next to he concept. They do pretty well off road for 'station wagons'. Unlike the bronco's and blazers you can still pick them up pretty cheap. Most were v8's with Dana 44 axles. They all have good bones are can make a really nice offroad rig. Thanks for putting this together!

    These are way better vehicles than most people know. The quadratrac is a suprisingly good system as far as im concerned. Low range was an option on all of them i think and its highly recommended. The old emergency switch in the glove box is sweet. I beat on one for years and loved it.

    Such a love/hate relationship with his Jeeps. This thing is mint; if a cracked heater hose is the only problem you encountered can't complain much. Need more of this cheap Jeep stuff. I like it when you were pulling that XJ apart.

    The wagoneer needs some rear springs real bad, I would go with 4" lift springs all around and if the shackles are at all bent replace them with upgrades also, but you really only need new rear springs, I just prefer the stiffer ride of a lift spring on these old jeeps.

    Dear god the leaf springs must be inverted upside down, even stock they sat high, but that one is probably 3 inchs sagged

    • @71_sears97
      @71_sears97 3 года назад

      Wagoneer stock sat pretty low in the later years. Frankly most including mine have 4" lift springs on them to help ground clearance.

      @@71_sears97 yes and no. Look at the videos from the 70s they all sat low. I qctually thought the later years sat higher actually. But having a 90 myself and seeing my suspension with inverted meaning upside down front springs from rust and age... this guys is actuslly sitting really really low. On fsjnetwork i was one of the first to find oem springs nade to spec for the later years.. 97-400 7 pack front.. after i got them my jeep went up 3 inchs from being sagged and had 4-5 fingers worth of room between the stock 29 inch tires and the wheel well.. which means i can see what they looked like factory.. so when i see a Jeep like this or ones for sale i can imediatly tell if they have original or new leaf springs.. wagonmaster and stuff for exanple... all they do is fix the interior give it a polish and paint job and thats it.. they dont replace the suspension. I did get 97-402s though for more weight capacity but the arch was adjusted and height was the same as 400s. so yea.. trust me this one is at least 3-4 inchs sagged in the front and probly 2 in the rear. Right now though i have a 2.5 inch lift in the front and 3 in the rear. And 31s. The look is just right in my opinion. 4 inchs is a tad too high for 31s.. too much gap between the wheel wells makes the tires look too small.. and then going 33s negates the effect.. 4 inchs and 33s looks the same as 2 inchs and 31s..
      As for helping ground clearance... A stock FSJ has more ground clearance than a wrangler. 4 inch lift on your Jeep is more like 6 inchs on a wrangler.. Our Jeeps are all tucked away into the frame.. Only the modern Jeeps finally started doing that again.. They only reason wranglers or new gladiators can fit 37s on is the wheel wells.. but overall body height is lower on them then our vehicle if you account for the tire difference
