Well this old person appreciates it. :) You are a very good classical pianist. I'm so old that I didn't practice enough while traveling around the world too much for my employer so now I have to fake it. But I have enjoyed the piano all my life and have no regrets about learning to play. I use the Garritan Abbey Roads VST on my cheap Yamaha DGX-650. The action could be better but I put up with it. My Yamaha console upright is 47 years old -- I bought it new and it's been moved around the US six times. Its lost some of its sparkle. But it is still easier to play without mistakes than the digital. The inexpensive Graded action doesn't have enough fulcrum depth and strike distance to avoid tickling adjacent keys. Of course my jumping around is not as accurate as it once was. I love your performances. You have great touch sensitivity that really bring out delicate dynamics. Hello form Houston.
Its funny how people think classical is for old people thing is not everyone has the mental capability to comprehend classical, its more than just playing an instrument, i feel like its another language, a story behind each composition. Ive been listening to all the greatest virtuosos since i was a baby, mother used to play it to us when we would sleep, im now 36 years old and i cant go over a week without listening to some of it. Im glad my girl and i can sit down and enjoy watching someone play a piece. I cant picture myself with someone who doesnt appreciate this genre of music.
I share your preference for Chopin as well in music. I see you play Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. Have you tried Scriabin's music? His early pieces show a strong influence from Chopin though his harmony is more modern. This is a beautiful interpretation of the nocturne. I thoroughly enjoyed your performance. You have the technique and the artistry of a professional pianist. Thank you very much for sharing your music.
I recorded a newer version recently: ruclips.net/video/QQOFOjvH8Po/видео.html Even newer version on Steinway D: ruclips.net/video/A_XnkO0rBYg/видео.htmlsi=cKQLIXOyJ0sLtyo8
Please play once in a while some of your beautiful music with the AvantGrand’s own CFIIIS sample. I’ am really curious how that will sound under your fingers. I love your playing!
Well played, congrats, I have seen your video playing the same nocturne on Kawai NV10, Do you feel any diference? They are similar , I know, but in your own experience what piano do you recommend me to buy, I love to play classical music as Chopin , I am not really interested in other features , only as a piano , keyboard, pedaling , sound and experience playing them, thanks in advance for your advice.
Do you think you could practice this level of music on an n1 or novus nv10 alone, never playing an actual grand and have it translate to an acoustic instrument?
Hard to say either way. I learned to play on grand pianos so I can't imagine if I could have achieved the same results from just a digital hybrid alone.
I see that the mechanics looks absolutely nice to the sound we hear, you can play pianissimo ppp and it´s right. I have an Yamaha P140, but it´s far from being nice. When I play pianissimo, some keys don´t play, I need to play harder, and this is not good.
I really love your interpretation, and your piano touch. Besides that, I'm really amazed by the combination N1-VST you have set up. Years ago, when I played the N1with purchasing idea, I've been confronted with saturation problems when playing ff (the N1 was emitting beeps in the audio headset!!). Do you know if such a sound is achievable in real time without lag sensation, i.e. the N1 piano (or another) is linked to a computer running pianoteq or Garritan, and a beautiful sound is sent on speakers during the play in real time without lag sensation ? thanks for sharing!
You are gifted with a real talent man. Absolutely beautiful how you play. I have a N2 and like the sound... but if I compare it with the sound of your Garritan CFX it cannot stand in its shadow. Are you using a Mac or a PC? Laptop or a desktop to run it on? Do you experience any latency? I wander what computer I require to run Garritan on my N2. Hope you have some advice.
Thanks! I may not be able to help you much because I have a custom PC built for gaming. The CFX is fairly demanding so in addition I also ended up getting 32 GB RAM, SSD, and an external sound card to eliminate latency problems. You may want to check the PianoWorld Digital Piano forums for some suggestions on specific computer gear.
@@rach3master Congrats! This sounds awesome! I run Pianoteq with a decent laptop but still get popping and clicking sounds. With your PC you could solved this problem?
Lovely rendition. Have you used other piano VSTs? Some of them sound great, but I would not know about how good / even is the touch. I used Ivory II a while back, which sounded quite rich, but the touch response was not quite there.
This is the first and only one that I've used, and it's good enough for me. I have pretty heavy reverb settings on mine, and you can certainly tone it down, but it will never be as dry as some other VSTs like Vintage D.
Really nice! I too am an N2 owner, and currently play with a mix of Pianoteq and the native sound. apart from the PC, I presume to use Garritan I'd need a Midi cable, and external sound card. I only ever listen on headphones, so can I record straight from Aria to a PC? Is that how you get the quality of your recording?
Are you using the internal speakers of the Avant Grand? With the internal speakers+ garritan CFX do you consider comparable this experience with an acoustic piano?
The Cfx sound is heanvely beautiful, I could listen it at Nu1x sample which is hybrid, I would say it's closest to a real acoustic. The garritan cfx vs Nu1x samples or Yamaha samples I think the accuracy is the same if not someone come here and help me; but honestly it's heavenly sound and for my taste I prefer CFX Yamaha, Bosendorfer and Shigeru than the famous Steinway which everybody put as god; not for me.
I'm puzzled by your video - the sound quality and the playing are wonderful, but what your fingers are doing in the video seems in many places to be completely unrelated to the notes being played, for example in the passage from 1.25-1.30. It would be good to know the explanation for the differences...
Well this is a very interesting comment. I must admit I've actually considered doing some post-processing to edit out mistakes and otherwise "perfect" the performance. However, for the moment I've decided against it. What you are seeing is actual raw footage, audio and video recorded separately and spliced together in one complete take, recorded over many hours at a time until I was reasonably satisfied with my performance. I followed along with your example and it certainly appears as though my hand ignores that note, but if you look at the reflection you can see the key is indeed depressed for a split second. I'd be curious to see what other examples you can come up with.
I looked at 1.25-1.30 and can't see what you're referring to. All the notes are depressed as they should. Keep in mind this is a digital piano that I'm playing, so the action responds differently than a grand piano would in terms of key attack and rebound. I also had to manually sync the video and audio together with my eyes and ears, so it may not match exactly. Finally, RUclips tends to desync my video after I upload it, so I might not have noticed or had to apply further corrections, can't remember which.

Digital Pianos on board sounds are still no match for dedicaded Piano sample libraries and VST, i have a Kawai Ca97 and i still take any day the sound of almost any top piano library or Vst.This CFX sounds incredible!
Using a great virtual piano gives you a much better result than you could get using mikes on a great real piano. As for a real hardware sampled piano, the software ones can use vastly more samples for even more realism. The Garritan CFX lite uses 30 gigabytes for one close sample set (which is the full "close" position of the full CFX). The full one is 130 gigabytes with 3 mike positions (which are unnecessary). Both lite and full have up to 16 samples velocity layers per note with no looping. Hardware keyboard pianos rarely have more then 4 layers.
You say you're an amateur? Your performance is among those of the best pianists touring professionally today... as you could, too-without a doubt.
What a performance, what a nuance and expression. Bravo!!(standing ovation) Great pianomaster and a great piano sound! I love Chopin
beautiful playing. It's not about the piano, it's the one who plays make the difference.
Not only is it perfect technically, but it's also played with a lot of emotion, without being overdone. Thank you for sharing
Bravo! The Garritan CFX is excellent
don't know much about classical music, but fall in love with this one! next must learn piece for me !
Romantic, not classical!
Technically, both correct. Classical music from the Romantic period.
Adoro questo brano. Lo trovo pieno di passione. Bravo maestro👏👏👏👏

He actually using it as a controller for a vst on his computer.

non trovi dura la tastiera dell n1?
Have the reverb settings been changed from the old recording? The latest seems to have an abundance of reverbs and room decay.
Not sure. I probably have added a little more.
OMG, i like that
great playing, what is your keyboard touch sensitivity - HARD, MEDIUM, SOFT or FIXED, i am not shure when using it with vst what will sound the best
Amazing bro.. emotionally made.. i love your piano.. is it an E Piano? It is well furnished
Just wondering, are you studying under anyone right now?
I take a lesson about once every month or two months, but most of the time I'm just studying on my own as a hobby.
What kind of keyboard?

Nope just what you see.
Which velocity curve do you use?
Are you using the internal speakers of the Avant Grand? With the internal speakers+ garritan CFX do you consider comparable this experience with an acoustic piano?
No, this is a direct digital recording through line-in. I'd say it's pretty comparable.
Hi. Do you apply your VST to your midi recorded file or do you play your VST live ? Thanks.
It's played live through the VST.
That Garritan CFX sounds very real to me. What mic perspective did you use ? Classic, Contemporary or Player ?
I use only Classic.
Very moving interpretation. Sounds a lot like Rubinstein.

wow. sound quality is pretty good. What sound interface are you using?
RME Babyface Pro

Actually I think many anime osts are based from these Chopin pieces from the romantic era
@@jimhawkins-polarbearpianis1621 Yeah, the basis of most modern music is from the Romantic era, so to an extent you are right.

What does that say for Yamaha's samples?
Yamaha's samples unfortunately sound bland without reverb when recorded into an audio track.

This piano has wonderful key action but horrible sound, avantgrand with garritan is great mix.
wtf i like the sound
I also liked the sound of this digital piano

Why buy such an expensive piano to use software sound .The Vpc1 Kawai is more than capable.Good performance though .
Superior key action for best feeling and control. Also to withstand more virtuosic pieces that I might throw at it.
