This is the best performance I've ever heard of this beautiful nocturne. You have a wonderful gift for interpreting the singing quality of the piece and expressing it so beautifully.
THE greatest of all the nocturnes and, quite possibly, the most beautiful piece of music ever written. Your performance is outstanding! Just superb... truly. There are a few things I'd do differently, but that's just me. Bravo!
This piece is, without question, one of my very favorites in all of classical music. I've heard it hundreds of times by dozens and dozens of different artists - and I can say with the utmost confidence that THIS interpretation is one of the most beautiful and technically incredible performances I've ever seen. Bravo, mon ami, bravo!
I've listened to both versions and like them pretty much equally. I'm not surprised when different versions appeal at different times in one's life. I can't quite believe composers who played their pieces played them exactly the same way in every performance. And I suspect hearing others play a different interpretation would have been welcome. I've been working on this piece for just a few months sporadically. I absolutely love it.
Yes, very beautifully done. I loved watching your hands and seeing the notes played so gently on the keyboard. Chopin must have known when he wrote this song that it was perhaps one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Both versions have poetry. It is good you subdued your left hand. You have a beautiful sound with both instruments. Congrats and keep up the good work!
A smashing performance. Thank you. I wish I could get my Garritan CFX to sound as realistic as yours. I'll try your settings and if that doesn't breathe life into the application, I'll give up on it.
gorgeous. made me cry. stumbled across this as I was searching for a better plugin than Keyscape (extraordinarily uninspiring grand piano sound imo). this convinced me to get the garritan cfx once and for all!!
My preference is more dynamic "life" in the nocturnes. To me, more a passionate approach than taking the Nocturne idea as super sensitive. I love your second half to the end.
My old version for comparison: ruclips.net/video/fHncfQhmWi8/видео.html New version on Steinway D: ruclips.net/video/A_XnkO0rBYg/видео.htmlsi=cKQLIXOyJ0sLtyo8
What piano you prefer? Yamaha or Kawai? What is better for you and why? Now I want to buy or Yamaha Nx1 or Kawai Novus 10, but I don't know what is better.
Hi, another fine interpretation of my favorite Chopin Nocturne. I have to say though that I prefer your previous version. I find that the slightly faster tempo of the previous version flows better for me. But they are both well played and I will be very pleased if I can someday play this piece at your level. 😄
"Nowadays, I prefer a more subtle interpretation of this nocturne, so I re-recorded this piece to better match my taste." To Your Knowledge: excellent performance....BUT...alas STILL a little TOO FAST. I've SLOWED it down to 0.75 and boy o boy: JUST BRILLIANT. I'm actually working on this piece right now. As there are 'NO NON-PLAYABLE PARTS' this remains 'pretty challenging' because of the many 'turnings and twistings' which Chopin has included in this piece. I mean, if you really want to get to know it 'by heart' it for sure takes time to get things right.
Love your interpretation! Nice work :) Btw, which piano do you prefer: the previous Yamaha N1 or the actual NV10? Why did you change? (Actually reflecting of buying one of these)
He preferred the action on the NV-10. Other than that, he did not list any other reason. I believe the Kawai action on this is the same action they use on their grands. Ive played it in store, and it is wonderful! The sound is from Garritan CFX, but the native sound effects are great too
soupplesse avant tout! I quite like this one better really captures the essence of a nocturne with the envelope you've created. Interesting to see it played on a novus but using a CFX VST? That good? :D
You display great sensitivity and touch in your playing - congratulations! I've listened with interest to some of your other videos using an Yamaha N1 - but in this video I assume this an Kawai acoustic grand?
@@mangodsky2809 Ah! - very nice - do you have this as well as the N1, or have you replaced the N1 with this new Kawai? Do you have any preference between the Yamaha and Kawai hybrid digital pianos as regards action and sound? Many thanks..
@@rach3master Thank you for posting. This is a brillant interpretation. I'm with you Kawai Novus models (both NV10 and NV5) have better action than Yamaha's Avant Grand pianos. However, since they are sampled on their own pianos (even Shigeru model), the sound is not as rich. As you said, it doesn't matter because you use a software. I'm new to piano softwares and I have a basic question, if you don't mind me asking. Do you connect your piano to your computer, and have the sound produced by your computer and/or additional speakers? Or, does Garritan consist in importing its sound library in the actual piano, making it a Garritan piano so to speak? Is the second option even possible? I'm considering buying both the Novus model and Garritan so your help could be very useful (nothing is explicitly said on Garritan's website, which mostly describes their software for people who are already knowledgeable about all this!). Thank you so much in advance! Bruno
The sound is so good that I assume it came from the line-out. How does it sound if you use the piano's own speakers. Really lovely playing, I wish I could play that well!
Excellent new version! Congratulations! I would love to know more about your hardware configuration. I am running Pianoteq with a decent laptop (i7, 8 Gb RAM), but I am still getting some popping and clicking sounds. How did you solve those issues?
Thanks! I have a custom built PC but the biggest factor in eliminating those issues as you described was getting an external sound card (Babyface Pro in my case).
I believe this is the Kawai Novus NV10. However, the sound itself is from the VST plugin Garritan CFX. I believe he has his settings in his description
The Garritan CFX is probably the VST I like the best out of what I've tried. It's not flawless, since as you mentioned the distinctive Yamaha brightness is present here as well, when I would prefer a mellower tone for the repertoire I usually play.
@@rach3master thanks. Why are your settings on "Performer" perspective. It sounds very good but it seems curious that you would not choose the "audience" perspective for final rendering.
Since I'm using it as a controller for a VST, the piano action is the only feature that actually matters, and I think the action is slightly better in the Novus.
How do you like the pianos themselves without vst? Thanks for the reply! I have n2 and just got Garritan cfx today after watching this video yesterday. Having trouble with pluging into logic though..
Interesting how different this is compared to your older upload. I also enjoy this version more. Why did you decide to limit yourself with the dynamic range? (On a side note can’t wait for my Kawai to be delivered)
In my opinion, this Yamaha piano VST sounds most beautiful in the pp-mp dynamic range for this kind of piece. Any louder than that, and it is a bit too bright for my taste. Also, I went for a more strategic approach with dynamics, so that in the few sections when I do play louder it stands out more.
@@rach3master when you play these vsts, how do you listen to them, do you have external studio monitor speakers, or do you use line in into the piano , utilizing the piano's speakers?
Hello! Thanks for this new version. Why didn't you use the new Steinway D VST you recently purchased if I'm not mistaken? The Steinway sound suits better for Chopin in my opinion.
This Is One of the best version of this nocturne i' Ve ever Heard, this Is lovely, the sound, the touch, the atmosphere, the spirit! Bravissimo!
Possibly the best version I've heard both playing and acoustics, the acoustic settings are just perfection
Excellent playing for this exceptionally difficult piece. I'm also very jealous of that piano!
