    Are we not supposed to perform mesh analysis to find current ? Is Either mesh or nodal analysis to be performed ? Or is there any specific cases which is restricted to only one type of analysis ? Please clarify my doubt

    • @adventureswithayar6320
      @adventureswithayar6320 2 года назад +2

      it can be...when two potentials are same current cancel each other

    • @AndrewKiethBoggs
      @AndrewKiethBoggs Год назад +1

      To calculate I1, you take the voltage drop across the resistor and divide by the resistance (Ohm's law) However, in the problem both sides of the resistor have a potential of 4v. So I1 = (4v - 4v) / 1 ohm = 0/1 = 0A

    10:36 how did you know what signs to use in the equation? I thought V would be positive because the current flow hits the positive terminal first, and with -IR, why is it negative? what is happening?? please help

    • @rocketmanfossel1174
      @rocketmanfossel1174 3 года назад +1

      current doesn't hit positive terminal of battery first . the terminal from where current leaves is marked +ve because obviously current leaves from there and current arrives at other end making that other terminal more electronegative

      @@jealouspotato1107 Current always flows from positive end to negative end . The current that is flowing from the resistor is opposite in direction to the current flowing through the voltage source. Thus IR becomes negative.

    If we solve this problem by Mesh analysis, then what would be the value of I? I1 or I2? As we can not apply KVL for mesh 2. So the value of I2 will be 2A/-2A?

    • @NaveenSword
      @NaveenSword 6 лет назад +2

      If we apply kvl to this network. Then from the first mesh we get i1=0. From second mesh it is i2=-2. But as we are asked to find the correct " I " which is flowing in the middle branch, and as there are two currents in two meshes. Therefore I=i1-i2.
      i1=0, i2=-2. So I=0-(-2)=2A.

    • @circuitsanalytica4348
      @circuitsanalytica4348 4 года назад

      Hello Srija, why can't we apply kvl to second mesh? We can, assume voltage across 2A as Vx
