When asked, "How do you challenge yourself as a ballet painter?" Yan Sun replied: "I challenge myself to capture the spiritual essence of ballerinas. I strive to portray their inner worlds through dynamic expressions, whether they're diligently working in the studio, brilliantly performing on stage, or finding pleasure in intermissions. Ballerinas not only possess physical beauty but also a profound inner depth, allowing them to convey their roles effectively."
Yan Sun's ballerina painting, "Tying Her Point," was selected for "The Virtuosos of the OPA Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oil (2019)." This competition is open only to signature and master members of Oil Painters of America.
