This list is based on vertical distance / height. A video based on horizontal distance might come up too.
Note: Ivysaur was ranked based on the distance of its Vine Whip.

When you recover, you cannot use your 1st jump. So many things could be different.
Generally speaking, the best recovery would be the one that *delivers* the most height. The higher it brings you, the longer you can wait while offstage before returning, and the easier it is to get right back to the ledge.

Yoshi can go higher if you use the up special before you double jump than use it again after and Diddy Kong can go higher if you charge the barrels more.

Spoopy Diddy would still end his recovery much higher after a full charge than he does after just a tap.

There are a few flaws with this video.
•Multiple people can airdodge to get higher that you didn't incorporate. Jigglypuff, etc.
•Bayonetta's triple jump tech wasn't included.

Fourth Seat Studios I main both Incineroar and Dr. Mario and I for sure struggle a lot more with Dr. Mario
I think Incineroar's recovery is fine. A lot of people don't know that you can use side b then up b to get more horizontal recovery

Incineroar's recovery is passable. It isn't good but it's above the lowest (Belmonts, Chrom, limited Cloud, Little Mac) and almost lowest (Ganondorf, Dr. Mario) tiers.
Main thing to remember is that gaining height is his problem, so Up-B EARLY while you're still high up after being launched. Side-B, double Jump, Up-B, Airdodge. You should sort of aim to get on stage or onto the ledge with the downwards part of the Up-B, don't try to grab the ledge with the rising part.
More often than not you're launched at a low angle than high. Even with the side B, most of the characters you listed have an easier time covering horizontal at level with the stage--even Little Mac. Chrom is garbo, though.

Wait I just noticed, play Smash Bros Brawl, go to Special Brawl, put on light mode, and then press mini, then play as Samus, and then go to any stage, then spam Down B.
This is the REAL infinite recovery.
Edit: Also you can do the same thing with rob just spam Down A.
I was playing against gravity man in story mode when I saw this. I was Ganon playing against Samus spamming down b in low gravity and couldn’t reach her...
Or in ultimate choose k rool use spirits that slow down fall speed and put on custom smash and turn on light and spam up air with k rool
Also works in Smash 4, Mini Pikachu can recover forever with Thunder, he can even stall

Luigi also has an another option. Do his side special if he got punched up really high. Or if thrown at the same length as the stage, do a jump after you got blown off, the do his down special and keep spamming the down B and then you'll just fly in up and then do his side B. that's it. Or if after doing all those and you didn't get a missfire and you're about to fall down to your death, you are in luck! Because simply just do another jump and then just up B. Done and that's how Luigi get's back to the battlefield. If this doesn't work, that means you were at high percent and you died. That's a tip for his recovery move. If you wanna beat your opponent instead, just do the zero to death combo. If you don't know how, go to RUclips and just search up: "Luigi Smash Ultimate Zero to Death Combo". There you have it. Thanks for looking at this. Because it's very helpful and I'm a Luigi fan
Doc can actually go up further if you save your double jump for after using down b, and angling up b backwards. Angling it forward will cause you to go further, but less high

There is a lot of stuff you can do to get higher. I am making this 3 years after this video was realeased so some new patches have been made. But here's what I know.
You can use Luigi's side b to get higher by holding it down to carry momentum.
If you mash the b button in the second half of Bowser's up b he goes higher.
If you use mewtwo's side b after his first jump, preform a double jump, and the do his side b b AR the end of the jump but not after it, he will carry his vertical momentum and go quite high.

@Manfreski And now it still is. It's back to killing like prepatch from kill confirms and it now has a windbox below him (can be used to gimp still, somewhat), alongside invulnerability during some of the startup.
The cyclone has been crucial in every game as a way to add recovery options to Luigi, but now it's gone, which is what sucks the most.

@@richardhowell6220 well, you still can. It's more so you can't drag a low percentage player from a platform to the top and kill them with cyclone. I also think it was done to make Dr. Mario's down B more distinct
Because it could be used for low-percent "ladder"-type kills. Along with shield roll spam and throw combos, ladder combos were one of the dev team's priorities to nerf

You can actually get way higher with R.O.B by tapping up on the stick continually. It's a little funky on the timing but once you get it down he goes flying

You can get higher with Yoshi if you up b before and after your second jump
Mr. G&W can go slightly higher: since he can act out of his up-B, he can cancel the parachute and airdodge upwards to gain slightly more distance.
I wouldn't be surprised if he went up 3-4 spots on the list this way.

Isabelle's recovery can be pretty op. Cuz she can use both fishing rod and the balloons if the fishing rod fails
For the record, you can go higher than you did with Pichu by using Thunder while ascending.
Bowser Jr. can go higher if you used side-b and jumped out of it before using up-b. Jumping out of side-b doesn't put him into free fall and gives him extra height.
Also add mechakoopa with a decent percentage.

If anyone is curious of Piranha Plant. I tested it. He slots in at 8th place, Right after Dedede and before Olimar, going to about 18.5 units upwards.

A few minor things, characters that don't go into free fall, i.e. Mega-Man, Bayo, Snake and Bowser Jr. can Air Dodge upwards to gain extra height.
Plus, Bowser Jr. gets an extra jump after using his Side-Special, thus putting a few spots higher on the list.
Nobody:
Shulk with Monado: *j u m p*
You can get higher with some of these characters: for example:
Peach and Daisy both have Bob-Ombs
Use Sonic’s up Special on the ground, fall and land on the spring, and he gets another recovery chance. Use your second jump after that and use the up Special again and then air dodge up.
Same thing with Mega Man.
Duck Hunt and Mr. Game & Watch can air dodge out of their up Special.

Lucario and Cloud's up special are epic, i mean, when Lucario is damaged, his Aura is super intense and for Cloud, his limit is full and now he makes his special move.

Bayo can get further if you give her her second After Buner Kick and her triple jump.
Yoshi goes up 16 blocks. By jumping, egg throwing then dubble jumping, and then doing the egg throw again. R.O.B can get higher than Lucario. R.O.B can get 31 blocks high. by clicking up B constantly.
