I'm say that since it is in the parasite's best interest to have their host healthy enough to complete their life cycles. The type of relationship where the host is eventually killed is called parasitoid like some wasp that lay their eggs in caterpillars or maggots.

Worms mean you have low stomach acid, low liver function, or pancreas enzyme issues. They are the canary in the coal mine so to speak. If you have parasites it is good to get rid of them and clean up your diet. This will help your health get back to normal. It is probably not the best idea to simply live with them full time as they will cause chronic fatigue and digestive issues and digestive discomfort.

I have always maintained that hyper-cleanliness is as bad for one's health as a complete lack of hygiene. It just stands to reason that if we don't give our bodies some exposure to bacteria, parasites, &c, our underused immune systems will start freaking out over things that aren't actually a threat. (i.e., allergies.)

Julia Wilde Do you think it would be possible to engineer these creatures to gain their benefits without so much drawback? For example, there is aloooooot of many in tapeworms for weight loss but that wouldn't be viable until something is done about the pain and nausea they cause and the possibility of them moving around your body.
There are definite benefits to having these guys living in you but your average person rightfully finds their presence repulsive in all forms, personally I find the idea of worms residing in and on my eye all forms of gross.
All in all it would be handy if we could gain their benefit without gaining them. Perhaps instead we could engineer a group of cells to be implanted that excrete the same proteins as the worms and perhaps that would go part way to a solution.

Wondering if I have worms I just took medication for pinworms because for 4 years I've been having these sores and they're like little white raised bumps in my skin. No one ever tested me for parasites one time I got tested through my stool and it just said I had e coli but they didn't test the areas where I could have parasitic worms. I've been getting these infections for 4 years now and like I've looked under a microscope at my scab that I would take off and examine it and I could see tiny little things moving in it. I just took parasitic medicine for pinworms and some antihistamine. Although I've never had an itchy butt butt butt the sores started around my butt area.

I hardly think suppressing your immune system is worth the trouble of giving yourself a parasite. Infecting yourself with AIDS would do a much better job. As for me personally, I'd rather keep my immune system in full force, fighting off harmful diseases, even if my immune responses do cause me to get the sniffles from time to time.
