Greta seems to be very affectionate and sensitive, she adores Guillermo's craft, she was just expressing her love and admiratoon for him. But at least it got a lot of praise after all that. The Shape of Water was the second fantasy film who won as Best Picture. Previously, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King on 2004. That film was winning 4 awards from 13 nominations, tying the records for Birdman (Or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), The King's Speech, No Country for Old Men, A Beautiful Mind, and Unforgiven.
While I would've preferred Phantom Thread (my 2nd favorite movie of 2017) or Three Billboards to win, I still very much think Shape of Water deserved the award. Tbh, I think Blade Runner 2049 (my favorite movie of 2017) should've won, but it wasn't even nominated.
I loved all of these movies, I also really liked Call me by your name But in my opinion for me (personally) Shape of Water is the best, because it left a huge and the strongest impact of me. I am a big fan of fantasy and other genres too, but this particular film is special because of how every element in the film blemds with each other, and sets up a very powerful and beautiful scene (accompanies with one of the best soundtrack ever). Its kinda like Amadeus in some way, magical. I still agree that Call me by your name, three billboards, blade runner and PT were amazing. But for me personally SoW made the biggest impact

The Shape of Water was the second fantasy film who won as Best Picture. Previously, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King on 2004. That film was winning 4 awards from 13 nominations, tying the records for Birdman (Or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), The King's Speech, No Country for Old Men, A Beautiful Mind, and Unforgiven.

While I would've preferred Phantom Thread (my 2nd favorite movie of 2017) or Three Billboards to win, I still very much think Shape of Water deserved the award. Tbh, I think Blade Runner 2049 (my favorite movie of 2017) should've won, but it wasn't even nominated.
I loved all of these movies, I also really liked Call me by your name
But in my opinion for me (personally) Shape of Water is the best, because it left a huge and the strongest impact of me. I am a big fan of fantasy and other genres too, but this particular film is special because of how every element in the film blemds with each other, and sets up a very powerful and beautiful scene (accompanies with one of the best soundtrack ever). Its kinda like Amadeus in some way, magical.
I still agree that Call me by your name, three billboards, blade runner and PT were amazing. But for me personally SoW made the biggest impact
Plot was very interesting too, with many themes, making you think after seeing this movie
Imagine winning a Best Picture Oscar and them not letting you give an acceptance speech....sad.
