I find alcohol tiring and uninspiring.
Boring is fine. I don't need the excitement of cops coming to my door, being in court, in front of a judge, strangers all staring at me, and my family looking disappointed with me, or being on a hospital bed with tubes in my arm
it's boring waiting for a liver transplant.
Well said
Great comment 👍
True that. 😂😂😂
Alcohol promises you everything but gives you nothing, sobriety promises you nothing but gives you everything.
Officially 3 months today. Onwards and upwards. Thanks Kevin.
Great job!
Hello, have you noticed any health benefits?
Nature is my church!
When I go out to dinner with friends who drink i get bored with their conversation that is so repetitive . At times it is good and I can converse with them and have a good time but it gets a bit boring . I know what I rather be doing. Life has become much more fun and much busier since I stopped and its only been 95 days since i decided to be sober.
If you are suffering from boredom after getting sober, it can often come down to mindset.
Having the correct mindset when you stop drinking makes a huge difference. We get bored when we stop drinking because our brain is missing that high which comes with any drug. I would rather be bored, than hungover, anxious, broke, embarrassed, in a police cell, in hospital, in a coffin. Always helpful tips Kevin! Thank you!👋❤👍
JIMKATSANIDIS - I think the reason people get bored when they try to quit alcohol, is because they linked it as a fun activity and didnt have multiple things to do for fun, so once that's gone, their is a void and they don't know what to do.
@@eb2354 Your comment makes sense. Also there is a false belief in the media, culture and our peers that alcohol is the best way to have fun, and therefore sobriety must be boring. At first, it can feel weird doing your favorite things without drink, but you have to try to keep doing them. Doing fun things sober quickly becomes your new normal. Have a great day!👋
@JIMKATSANIDIS your 💯 percent right, alcohol is everywhere, ( even in airports ) Alcohol company's spend millions of dollars advertising in commercials and they show a bunch of BS of people laughing and having fun, you don't see the aftermath. The DUI'S, the car accident fatiltys, the bar fights, people sometimes kill each other when they're drunk. I read statistics that 3 million people die from alcohol related causes every year worldwide. That's insane!! but no one really pays attention to that...
Totally agree with you. We are made to believe drinking goes with fun times and partying... until the next day when reality kicks our butts with a sick hangover and a promise, Never again! Wh
Heading to pub and staying sober can be hard. Pub mainly about social so that's what's missing now
My brain used to tell me that all the things I am passionate about and enjoy are more enjoyable with alcohol. Thankfully Im starting to arrive to a place where I can be passionate, I can enjoy and appreciate those things to a higher level whilst sober.
I will say I’ve had some crazy fun nights with alcohol, it took me places and I’ve meet so many great people through it, but at some point it just started to do the opposite. I started to stay at home, so I could just drink in my own company until I would pass out. So I’m thankful for all the fun I had, but just like my childhood, at some point it’s time to move on from the playground.
Went away with family last weekend, absolutely gutted with myself that I had a couple of drinks after 6 weeks of no alcohol…start again 👍.
Don't Beat yourself up 'ay , you"re on the right path . Ive only been able to do 21 days . Am up to 15 days this time . Last time a good friend gave me a beer when i was struggling with it and i drank for another 6 months . It's really wierd and sad how people want to drag us down , when they see we're climbing out of the quagmire . Instead of offering support. He actually wanted to see me fail.
I loved this video. I have got better things to do than drink alcohol. I rather online music videos and other online videos than drink alcohol any day. I stopped drinking alcohol forever in 2010 and I don't miss it at all. I don't need any alcohol to have fun at all. I have lots of fun in my everyday life without drinking alcohol. I love living as sober lifestyle. I love living an alcohol free lifestyle. I will never give up my healthy and sober lifestyle for others. I rather spend time alone than spend it with drunks any day these days.
Not me , I have tons to do, love being sober, love it,especially the sleep 😊
Were never bored for the reasons we think we are
Without alcohol I got my best friend back into my life. I lost him at 14 yrs old. His name is me. Thanks for the Inspiration on your Channel Paddy 🇮🇪🙏🏻👍💪
Your sincerity shines through.
Thanks for the free beginners class. Working with it right now. Hardest person to face, is yourself.
Beyond the fact that you need to stop immediately if your are physically addicted. It is your life but if the gloom you feel of giving it up seems out of reach. I drank for 30 plus years and one day decided enough was enough. After around 5 months without alcohol in my life. Life did return to normal. For some it might take shorter or longer for the idea of drinking in that manner to pass. if you do stay the course of total "Abstinence" it will pass. Life without it will seem normal and you will look back at the way you were and laugh at how you could let yourself fall for that poison all that time. It will become easier and easier to let the thought of alcohol go with time. Good Luck to you if you have a problem. In this case with time it will heal.
My experience is the same as yours. 30 plus. 6 months free in 2 days 👍
Amen@@fatherburning358
Absolutely. I understood this and it still took me 3 years to quit. Bc underneath this assumption, was my fear of depression.
I got help. Kicked out the toxic people. Started meds. Never stopped listening to lightworkers. When I was bored or depressed or lonely, I'd come back here to RUclips. Every day until now.. I only search for these when someone else needs help. As a refresher to the truth. I dont take meds anymore and I'm happier than I've ever been. Thank you all so much ❤
depression, apathy, boredom... after 10 months sober I start to see a faint light at the end of the tunnel... never again, not even a drop: alcohol has only brought me misfortunes and suffering that I wouldn't wish on anyone. It is a war with oneself: one must resist, one must win. Ni una gota más!
I think being in control of your emotions is half the battle .
I'm nearly 3 year off and yes it can take a bit of time to figure things out but once you do it's so much better
Thanks Kevin, I think you made this one just for me! Boredom has been my excuse for my own many failed attempts at stopping. I'm bookmarking this episode to keep handy when I need a confidence boost.
I enjoyed watching the shadow creep down the mountain during the video. If you can’t imagine fun without alcohol you either had a bad childhood or forgot how much fun you had without alcohol. No reason you can’t have that same fun as an adult. The hardest part is the years, or in my case decades, of friendships where alcohol is virtually a requirement. “They’re sharing a drink they call loneliness but it’s better than drinking alone”. Billy Joel.
Very good Kevin. I so greatly agree with the feeling of boredom as a call to look within your self. For me, I feel boredom comes hand and hand with restlessness. These emotions can be examined with quiet reflection and meditation/prayer. For once we are calm, we are better able to see that life can be fulfilling, simply by being still.
Well Kevin just a message to say 4 months sober after trying millions of times to stop drinking iv watched your videos when iv been at my worst and they really do make sense. I think what t boiles down to it the person himself or herself.. so only early days for me but today I take little steps instead of giving myself targets like before thanks kevin on words and upward 😊
4 months is awesome dude .
Boredom is a big potential trigger to lapse/relapse.
yes out in nature
Very good topic to discuss, this has always been the struggle I had, and have. I have to replace the drinking time with exercise and /or projects
I’ve incorporated breathing, meditation (both on RUclips) and just sitting late in the day with my Seltzer and lime and watch the clouds or the moon.(no devices) 😊
I love the saying "only boring people are bored"......I totally agree. Choose not to be boring and find things you love to do and work as hard as you can on being at peace with yourself, getting drunk all the time and wishing away precious days of your life recovering from hangovers is TOTALLY boring
That irish accent is spot on😉
W(right)
The lastest vids have been just- excellent. Really really helpful. Thank you.
agreed
The world is fcked with or without lol . You can get high on life oddly enough if try hard enough . I use to skateboard when I was young and I was high on life all the time until I started drinking and doing drugs . Use to do kungfu also , I use to feel so good about myself .Drinking destroys all those good parts of your brain that make you feel good . If you are new to drinking , please try give it a miss from me . Otherwise you are going to regret it later on in life just as I have . I use to think drinking was a cool thing bla bla bla , but later on in life I just realize its a real super shit habit that will just bring you down . But the reality is all ya do is piss others off and fck ya own life up .
Well said.
Thanks a million Kevin. Great advice as always very grateful 👍
Boring & healthy
I'd take that any day.
I don't blame you. I'm a very health conscious myself.
This channel is brilliant.
I've been following him from the beginning, I agree!
Thank you for taking the time to make these. You are truly doing the Lords work with them.
You are right, even though I still get that feeling sometimes it takes about 5min to get over it now being 10mths in. Went to a large social event today, heaps of food and free alcohol, I had no trouble not taking that first one, and I might add, the event wasn't boring as a result. :)
Thank Kevin, spot on insight as usual. I love the gorgeous spot you're doing your early morning talks. Just mesmerising. Inspires me to get out into nature!
Tack! 30 days now Thank you sincerely
Appreciate it :)
Two years booze free for me in May. I'll never go back to the trap that alcohol puts you in.
I so totally agree with you in all your videos but I still haven’t stopped the flow. I don’t know why I can’t seem to be able to do what I know is right. I really hope I can join you in this path as soon as possible.
Wow this really clicked for me. (Cheesy “office” reference to follow)..
From now on, I shall ask “what would a drunk do” and then I shall not do that thing 😂
I love your videos Kevin, you are amazing on camera and I feel like you area talking to ke every time I watch your videos, keep ups the great work,
i stopped going to the local bar a year ago , if there's one thing that is very boring , thats is sitting in the pub talking rubbish and thinking it's fun. i have been drinking at home , and actually using the beer for energy and motivation to get work done at home , it's great for working on my boat . And for things that are not fun like working on the car or mowing the yard. But it's now time to leave it behind. i really want to experience life straight , cause i don't know what it's like , crazy hey.
Awesome episode Kevin 🐬
Keep them coming!
Kevin, your videos are great, but this was very good - hit me hard. It's all about perception. I haven't had a drop of alcohol since this july and I have been busy with so many great things.
The true meaning of I am bored in Latin is"i bore myself".
Thank you
So inspiring, and relaxing listening, thank you!
Im Tipping you now Instead of the Bartender. We are supposed to Tip for Service. Thanks Paddy 🇮🇪🙏🏻💪👍
Much appreciated
Thanks Kevin. Day 8.
Beautiful
Thanks, Kevin.
💜🇨🇦🙏
Boring people are always going to be bored.
Kevin, i go back to the example you used in another video. Think about yourself in a white room, alone, sitting on a chair. If you were sitting there drinking alcohol, would it be any less boring? people enjoy their friends and environment when they're drinking - it's not the alcohol that makes it fun.
I get bored living in the mountains. Guess it can't be to bad. When I just wish I could get up and go travel the world. But I would be a begging world traveler. I feel its a struggle not to be bored. Good luck everyone.
What do you mean bored from living in the mountains! What a blessing! Would you still be bored if you lived in New York City??!!!😊😊😊
Just give peace a chance dog you’ve got the better part licked, wishing you travel the world broke than just wonder what could have been. ❤
i try and view boredom as a blessing , because thats when my imagination starts to kick in .
👍🏻
How do you start?
www.habitsv2.com
You start by stopping , and just deal with the pain.
I love all your videos man, tomorrow will be the first birthday I spend sober in the last 20 years..
I appreciate it. Hope you enjoy your unplugged birthday :)
