    I have the CFX 55im as well. I am a truck driver. And take all of my own food. Mine is a freezer exclusively. The truck came with Dometic refrigerator already. My truck has a TriPac on it. So the fridge and freezer can be on 24/7 even when I'm home. I enjoy the freezer immensely.

    This is my first fridge cooler and it's been in my van for couple weeks now and so far it's working perfectly. I love the efficiency of it and super quiet.
    Only cons I have is I constantly check my app to make sure it's running lol...

    Wow! A couple of weeks ago, I was thinking "it would be nice to have a mini fridge the size of a cooler for my travels". I never looked to see if they existed, and here it is! That is so cool!
    Great review! Now I'm wondering about power sources (are there any quiet generators??) I'm definitely looking forward to your next video!
    You train dogs, feed raw, and travel in a van (which I'm going to do) - we're like sisters, lol! 😄
    God bless!

      Ha yes they are wonderful! I have a video called "simple van electrical setup' or something like that that shows the "generator" I use. There's lots of batteries out there you can run the fridge off of, totally silent, no gas required :)

      Hey Tai Tang! I've left my fridge in the car over multiple summers without any issues. But i would call the company directly with that question if you want to know for sure. I've had no issues, even in VERY hot weather with my dometic in the car at all times.

    Great video again!👍👍👍👍👍
    Check out the Dometic PLB40 power bank.We got two days running it with the fridge at 4 Celsius. Of course how long it runsi will depend on the temperature and how full the fridge is +++ Also the ice maker was off.
    I also have the insulating cover for the 55im fridge which also helps. I like the fact that the PLB 40 being Lithium iron phosphate has allot more cycle life compared to Lithium batteries which the majority of the solar generators on the market have. The Dometic PLB40 may cost more but it'll last you ten or so years.
    It just has allot of great features👍😄

      Thanks for the tip! I ended up getting a small Jackery on crazy sale that works perfectly for my needs. That being said, if my needs change and i hit the road in a van for months at a time again, I'll be looking into the PLB for sure!

    I ordered one and waited for 2.75 months before being cancelled. There is a recall on CFX3 models. You can't use the AC and DC at the same time. If you do the system can't shut off the current and it backfeeds to the electrical system. I read someone's horror story that it burned partially their RV. Dometic's fix is a sticker not to use both plugs at the same time. I like their products but waiting to see if they have a better solution than a sticker. I feel unsafe if a failsafe would not work properly.

    • @DoggyU
      @DoggyU  4 года назад +2

      Thanks John for the info. I'm just a little perplexed. In what situation would you be using both AC and DC at the same time? like you would plug both cords in at the same time? I'm not sure i understand.

    Was on the fence with this one. I am looking to run this off the new Wagan Tech Lithium Cube when it arrives. I'd be curious to know how much power it draws in the real world using DC. I've heard the Dometics sip power. Great review, think I going to pull the trigger on this larger unit to get the ice maker. I love me some iced coffee in the morning.

      Hey Trevino! That one actually got sold when I moved down to a minivan and needed more space. But I had zero issues with it up until I sold it. If you have the space, I'd personally purchase the 75 DZ just because I like having a fridge and freezer, but if you're just looking for one or the other, you can't go wrong with any of the Dometic products.

      I've had the dz75, the 65 and currently have the 55. If i had the space, I'd do the 75 because i love the DZ capability. For my current needs I like the 55 a lot! Overall, I think they are all well-made pieces of equipment and I'd get whatever size best fits your space!

    Thanks for the great review! I have one question. You mentions it’s durability and the fact you can sit on it. Do you think it’s strong enough the stand on? We have a Westy with a pop top and we use our cooler to get up and down. Just wondering it the lid could handle the weight. Thanks!

      Hi Ross - while the company would probably not recommend standing on it, I don't see why you couldn't use it in that way ...

    Great video. Maybe I missed it but why did you go from the 75 to the 55? I was thinking of getting the 75, don't necessarily need dual zones though. I am also interested in this model for my van.

    • @DoggyU
      @DoggyU  3 года назад

      Hey Sandy - if you have the space, I'd get the DZ75. I sold the van with the dz in it and now travel in a minivan for work so space was at a premium. I miss the DZ quite a bit! But the 55 works great! I was just spoiled with the dz75 :)

    • @DoggyU
      @DoggyU  3 года назад

      Hey Hans - I gotcha! While I also love the dual zone, the size is significantly larger and would be way too big for my minivan. The 55 is almost too big. But if you have the space, get a dual zone :)

    • @HansKeesom
      @HansKeesom 3 года назад

      @@DoggyU Hmmmm, maybe the IM (Icemaker) is sort of a compromise then.
      One might want a 45 with a flexible devider to make a DZ ;-)
      Or maybe they can create a removable Icemaker that one can replace with one that is a bit larger depending on how much you want to freeze.....

    I know you mentioned Dometic sent that to you for review but if you were to buy a new one would you get that or one of the dual zone ones? I really liked what you said about using it when you go grocery shopping - I'm in the same boat. I'm a good hour away from town and during the 100 degree summer you have to rush home so your stuff doesn't ruin... Thanks again for a great review and really testing out the ice maker - that is a neat feature.

    • @DoggyU
      @DoggyU  3 года назад

      Hi DSD - thanks for watching! So, if i had the space to fit a 75dz practically in the minivan or subie, I would go with that. I've used three different kinds now and having the two different compartments was SOOO USEFUL. Actually I was just away for the week and had to do some jenky stuff to keep my fridge temp stuff cold enough while making the dometic a freezer. So, if you have the space, I'd go with the dual zone. It's just not practical for my current travel setup.
