I typically use a combination of sliding the door forward slowly and pushing on the rear of the door when it starts to travel inward. I do it in one smooth motion. I push with two hands in this video, with the door at a standstill, to show that the door actually needs to travel inward to close. You'll be a pro in no time.
We added a handle on the inside. Pull sliding door closed at the same point you push from the outside. Both techniques make closing the sliding door easy, from inside or outside.
I commonly do this on our Promaster to close it. The big trouble is closing it from the inside when you can't be outside to push on the door. Even with a vent open we still have to slam it to get closed when we are in the van. Any hints there?
That may dent the area where your hands press over time with many repetitions since the door panels are likely not reinforced for pressure and sudden stop.
Great helpful tip
Appreciate it.
Thanks for passing on the knowledge. Works like a champ.
You bet. Thanks for the comment
I like it.
Cool
This makes perfect sense. Thank you!
EXCELLENT...WILL try it out

We really only have the problem when we're INSIDE the van. Hard to press it from the outside if your inside the van.

maybe that's when you could use the open a window technique.
I plan to add a strap on the interior of the sliding door for that very reason.
Thanks, no slammimg, i open passengers door 👍 it just closes easy
