  • If you know Rise Up, you’ve heard us use the word “familia.”
Meet Oscar, one of our surf coaches and important members of our surf familia. This is a day in Oscar’s life and what the word familia means to him.
At Rise Up, we want all of our guests-regardless of their background and personal experiences in their own family life-to feel safe, accepted, and part of something bigger and more interconnected than just attending a surf camp.
What our guests walk away with is a deep sense of belonging, a fresh perspective of the world around them, and often insight into parts of themselves that they had been missing for so long.
If you know, you know. If you don’t, the only way to be part of the Rise Up magic is to join the familia.

You guys need much better photos on the website. Take photos only on sunny days when colors really pop. Nothing looks very hopeful on a cloudy day. And experiment with filters to further add to color saturation and contrast. Videos are very time consuming and the people that can afford your prices probably don't have a lot of time to spend idling watching videos. Many, many still images can be scanned. You want to display them on a page where the thumbnails can be zoomed to fit the needs of the viewer. You want HUNDREDS, grouped by category/interest/area. This video was great though it was shot on cloudy days as well. Don't underestimate the gloomy effect of clouds! (I don't do any photography and am not looking to get hired. Just suggestions.)
