He did it. His T-shirt was covered in blood, so he got rid of it. She never screamed, she was knocked out with the first blow on her skull, then he massacred her. The total lack of any concern on Shepard's part about who killed his wife speaks volumes, as well as the fact that his son and the dog heard nothing that night. Man is guilty as sin and carried the consciousness of his guilt throughout his short life-
I remember when this happened. I'm from Louisiana and this was big news. The police seemed to decide that he was guilty immediately. Later I read a book about it and it was said there was a bloodstain on a pillow or sheet that was made by a surgical instrument. How they could come to that conclusion was beyond me.
F. Lee Bailey attacked the surgical instrument issue in the second trial. Got the coroner to admit he was guessing, had no idea what sort of surgical instrument could have been used and had never been able to find such an instrument!!!
I believe he is guilty. Not that it matters what I think in any way, shape or form. Same tbh. People online don’t have all the information that Ken Mains presented and so they like to assume things. Although the detective Mains did say he is not 100% sure he’s guilty and he probably wouldn’t arrest the guy, but it’s more than likely he was the murderer. There are many things that just don’t make sense if someone did actually entered their home and did this to Marilyn.
Also there is such a high probability when something bad happens to the wife the husband is to blame. It usually happens that way. It’s just how it is.
There is definitely reasonable doubt. The blood on the wall, the injuries sustained by Sam Shepard. If they had DNA back then they could of checked under her fingernails. That guy Eberley was a good suspect. The way Sam Shepard acted after he was set free makes me think he was innocent otherwise he would have just got on with is life. He was suffering.
I agree that he certainly was suffering. However, exactly from what---the ingredients thereof---I don't think can necessarily all be confirmed. I'm wondering if he had alcoholic tendencies before the murder. And, unchecked alcoholism merely progresses, I've observed. I'm not saying it's the only factor and explains everything, but could be one factor.
"The way Sam Shepard acted after he was set free makes me think he was innocent otherwise he would have just got on with is life" Actually, Sam just acted exactly like a lot of people do when they've spent a decade in prison. It messes you up for the rest of your life. I wouldn't draw any conclusions as to his innocence from how he acted after he was released from prison
Has anyone ever seen a jail cell? Of course Dr. Sheppard was suffering. Anyone who is used to the cleanliness of the OR now sees only the jail cell with no end in site, plus when you reach 40, your days of being a neurosurgeon is over. He was exonerated (conviction reversed). They chose to try him again and he was found not guilty. The civil suit was lost though. @@TheMrSuge You did hear the forensic and other evidence presented here, didn't you? You do realize that "capitalizing" on another totally ludicrous trial has nothing to do with the indisputable scientific fact that it was not Sheppard's DNA, don't you? You did understand that there was no evidence to prove Sheppard's guilt but a ton of evidence proving it was not him and pointing at the other guy, and that counted together that evidence surpasses even the slightest possibility of coincidence to any group of even semi intelligent people with basic education, didn't you? It was just explained in great detail that Sheppard's family's claim was based on lots of scientific EVIDENCE, provided by many leading scientists, and not on the botched OJ trial, so why, after seeing all this, would you still claim such an absurd thing?
This family suffered enormous injustice.
I haven't read all 438 comments so excuse me if this has been mentioned before, but the huge weakness in this theory is that if Sheppard grappled with this man losing a T-shirt in the process then surely he would have recognized him as the person he and his wife employed to do odd jobs for them.
Insightful point.
They said he was a handyman SHE hired. If Sam was working while she had contractors over, he might not have been as familiar with them.
He did it. His T-shirt was covered in blood, so he got rid of it. She never screamed, she was knocked out with the first blow on her skull, then he massacred her. They called it ''crime of passion'' because of the unnecessary and excessive amount of energy the perpetrator delivered during the act. It was personal, impulsive and intimate. He later destroyed himself because he couldn't forgive himself for the death of his parents. His second wife ran away once she understood what he was. Doctors covering for one of their own is nothing new. He killed 2 patients but I bet he had another ridiculous explanation for his failures. I could on and on like that.. You should have been on the jury in 2000. They did not pay attention either.
In my opinion, he killed 4 people: his wife, both his parents, and his father in law. And HE ruined his son's life, not the State.
But many members of this family were affected by this tragedy and only Sam knows for sure what happened and it’s just so frustrating. But the more I look at the evidence the more think he’s guilty. I doubt there was ever an intruder. But again, my opinion doesn’t matter, what matters is that a woman lost her life in the most awful way and only she could tell us how her life ended and who was responsible for it.

Yep, I was thinking the same! Killers most likely narcissistic and love themselves too much
Suffering with guilt
I agree that he certainly was suffering. However, exactly from what---the ingredients thereof---I don't think can necessarily all be confirmed. I'm wondering if he had alcoholic tendencies before the murder. And, unchecked alcoholism merely progresses, I've observed. I'm not saying it's the only factor and explains everything, but could be one factor.
"The way Sam Shepard acted after he was set free makes me think he was innocent otherwise he would have just got on with is life"
Actually, Sam just acted exactly like a lot of people do when they've spent a decade in prison.
Phones neighbors first… 🤔
Goes unconscious twice conveniently… 🤔
The killer cares so much for his son that one blocks his view… 🤔
He has a fight to be able to explain his swollen hands… 🤔
He is actively cheating on his wife… 🤔
I'm confused. Why would a bushy haired stranger kill marylin? Why would Sam call the neighbours and not the police? Wouldn't the son have woken up in all the commotion?
there was a book out about this crime and I read it many years ago. Marilyn wasn't just bludgeoned, her head was flattened from the blows. as we have seen from other family annihilators, husband is a cereal cheater and wife is pregnant (Jeffrey McDonald, Scott Peterson, etc.)
@@pattynielsen5506 Whatkind of “ cereal “ did he cheat with- Cheerios? “ Serial” killers kill more than one person over a period of time! Lol
Lol, you are right Connie. Also, he didn't kill his whole family, I know, but having a side woman seems to be a common component in a wife's/partner's murder. And i didn't write serial killer, I wrote serial "cheater."
Someone else killed her because Sheppard paid him too. No other reason for doing it exists.
No evidence for such a payment
@@redpillfreedom6692 Sheppard is exceedingly intelligent. There's no motivation elsewhere.
In this case, the overkill tells me he did it
Dang that's a tough one...thanks for sharing
I agree. I'm leaning toward the husband being innocent. The only thing I can see making him guilty is if he caught them together and a struggle and murder ensued. They almost made it seem like no one knew she was pregnant. I know women began to show at different times but even at four months, there's a little bump.

The point of this documentary is to lead you to "lean" towards the husband being innocent. That's why a 51 minute documentary spends 48 minutes on Shepperd's argument of innocence, and 3 minutes telling you about the prosecution's case.
So you've been led by the nose to the false conclusion that they wanted you to adopt.
Congrat, Yolanda; You're one of those suckers that P.T. Barnum said were born each and every minute
@@TheMrSuge What in the world are you talking about?
How did they have enough evidence to charge and arrest him? Hearsay.
Excellent video
Sam Sheppard's defense lawyers were a shoddy lot, as they did not pursue "the intruder". Normally the police investigate if anyone else could have done it, like a "handyman".! Shoddy police work shoddy defense & a lifetime of hurt for the surviving Sheppard relatives.
"my father's life was Destroyed by the state of Ohio .. I will never forget that .. I will never let YOU forget that" - Sam Sheppard's son Samuel Reese Sheppard
Rest in peace Marilyn!
Feel sorry for the Doc ..he is innocent
Guilty as sin.
this story makes me sad. the jury, judges makes this family suffer so much, they destroyed sam's fsmily😡😡😡😭😭😭
What's interesting is that I remember reading about Shepherd in the Saturday Evening Post when I was under 10.
I think there must be another trial . Science is now on a higher level and i think they can solve it
Wrong the last episode of M.A.S.H was the most watched show in history
He said Dallas was the most watched show (series), not episode....
District Attorneys never admit they convicted the wrong guy. Never!
The UK overturned the death penalty because of that. Derek Bentley then Timothy Evans. Both hanged quickly in the 1950's Evans was pardoned as they found the real killer, John Christie, Bentley was pardoned in the 1990's, as he did not actually shoot the police officer but his 17 year old friend did. Bentley was 19.
@@susanford2388 The criminal justice system in the USA is incredibly screwed up and there’s no doubt that we convict and execute a lot of guys who are actually innocent of the crime. With DNA evidence, many have been exonerated while sitting on death row. I think it’s probably the strongest argument against the death penalty.
@@stevenyourke7901 Yes, indeed, I think you are right. Too many men of color are prosecuted & to the fullest. Furthermore, I believe private prisons are unethical, immoral & open to abuse. the idea of prisons being run for profit, when those prisons are built & funded by our tax dollars. Also the rich get away with murder.
@@susanford2388 The USA has about 5 percent of the worlds total population but 25 of all prisoners. We have insanely long prison sentences and most are not violent criminals. The drug laws are completely insane. But prisons provide cheap labor for private corporations. Prisoners can be forced to work for practically nothing. They’re slave labor really.
@@stevenyourke7901 Yes, I heard that. It's mind boggling
