I love a lot of your points, and yeah I feel like the late 90s and early 2000s had some of the best musical gems since the 60/70s, plus the comments on health recommendations from the media: Doctors still cant decide if eating eggs are healthy or not but it's been flipped over more times than Kim Kardashian on a night out with Diddy.
SOAD is an incredible band!! I saw them live in 2002 at Ozzfest, and they are evert bit as good live as on the album. They are outstanding performers!! Songs to check out: Aerials, Chop Suey!, Toxicity, and Psycho. 🤘Rock on, Kelly 🤘
they’re all over the place and completely amazing. i fell in love the first time i heard spiders but prison song and lost in hollywood will always be my number ones
I am 62 years old and love System of a Down and a bunch of bands one would not think. I am open. If it sounds good and has meaningful lyrics I like it.
This song brings back memories. Was on the frequent play list in my local rock club and one night I was dancing on a speaker while it was playing. Got to one of the heavier bits and I jumped off. Hit my head on the low ceiling, slipped in beer on the dance floor when I landed. I thought I'd broken my ankle - but didn't spill a drop of the beers I was holding (had one in each hand). Got hoisted up by the friendly rockers and when I found I could put weight on my ankle I just carried on slamming around as though nothing had happened. A couple of hours later, it came on again and almost a carbon copy of round one minus the head on the ceiling. In between, a friend fractured his eye socket while moshing and smashing his face off the top of some dudes head. I think that was to Slipknot.
I avoided listening to this song for the longest time because a tiny clip was soo different from Chop Suey, Toxicity, etc. I was so pleasantly surprised when I finally went there. It's one of my favorites now!
I was 16 in 1998 & I was (generally, still am) 1 of those rockers who didn't get into the whole nu-metal & modern rock scene. But I definitely have grown to appreciate it now.. especially considering "who's writing stuff like this anymore?" I have definitely started accepting nu-metal in recent years.. and frankly, It's largely thanks to reaction channels like yours that make me pay walk back down this memory lane.
Always amazes me when I see someone, such as yourself, that has done a lot of reactions, that songs like this havent hit your platform yet. Great song. Thanks and keep up the good stuff
your facial reactions were perfect! I remember the first time i heard this song (bar Phono in Leeds UK if you're interested!) and it blew my mind, stuck with me since. Keep up the great work BP!
also i have seen a lot of interpretations of this song, but yours IS the one that makes the most sense. especially with the "Aspertaine Kills" Subliminal messages within it.
Born in the 70s Child in the 80s High school and college in the 90s If anyone had a better run of music than me and my generation, let me know! This song changed the way I say Sugar to this day!
This is my generation's music! 🎶 Another earworm that you really should listen to is Green Day's _When September Ends_ The whole album is genius and they made a Broadway play from it. But if you only listen to one song from that album (American Idiot) you should listen to that one!
I was born in the 60's so I grew up listening to all of the "old" music, I also listened to so many genres from the 80's/90's and some from the early oughts. There's even current music I enjoy listening to. So to say the best music came from any generation (IMO) is pigeon holing yourself into not enjoying art in all of it's capacity. Open your minds people, don't limit yourself to just one generation of music.
This song sounds like being hopped on SUGAR imo (haha, I wouldn't know though) but in all seriousness I like what you said about System being an innovative band, this was a single with their debut album in 1998 and their sound was always killer to me, my favorite band!
"the kombucha mushroom people sitting around all day". Speaking of a society being pacified just sitting at home being forced fed the "news" and what the media elites want you to think
At some point in your musical journey you should check out Daron’s(guitarist and backing vocals for SOAD) band Scars on Broadway. Just like ‘Sugar’ introduced us to SOAD, ‘They Say’ introduced us to Scars on Broadway. I know this will be a controversial take, but in some ways I find SOB better than SOAD. Both will always play a huge part in my personal music journey.
I remember sitting there stoned off my tits at 3AM one morning with my homeboy from middle school and two girlfriends watching MTV2 and this shit came on. We just all sat there going 😳 I don't think my girlfriend at the time ever smoked weed with us again after that
Fast forward over 24 years and my best friend from middle school became an actual Neo Nazi Derek Vinyard clone, his girlfriend at the time was murdered in a still unsolved bank robbery with all of her coworkers, my girlfriend at the time became really straight and is married to a firefighter and I have been everywhere from homeless with a dog chained to my waist to the main offices at Capitol Records. What a fuckin ride
NAW .. YOU MISSED OUT!! REALLY MISSED OUT ON THE GREATEST 30 YRS 1963 - 1993 ... IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN , INCLUDING FM RADIO YES WE HAD THE BEST...
System of a down putting down the system!!!!!! Always will always love this band...love your channel pegasus keep the fire burning....80s produced awesome music but sorry the 90s (I'm 39 ) was absolutely insane...we rebelled against the system hard...we went in got shit done... Now it's all falling apart...the music now for the majority is B's str8 bs
Not sure how someone can be so appalled by learning of the tobacco and sugar industries, how they INTENTIONALLY mislead the public to the harm of the public but to the benefit of the owners… and come out of that not at least QUESTIONING the incentives of capitalism and how they may be incentives poor outcomes to society. Or at least being MORE supportive of the government en they have stepped in to regulate these corporations and industries for the interests of the public. How does someone learn of shitty outcomes produced by wealthy corporations owned by wealthy people, and someone turn that into a mistrust or a questioning of the government?? (the people) Like wherever someone in a government position IS corrupt, and is to blame for undercutting the people and serving the interests of the corporations/wealthy instead of the people…. Yes that is “the government” failing us… but they are still being corrupted by the wealthy/corporations, trying to undermine the intent of democracy, to influence policy to sever THEIR interests, over the interests of the people. This class of people who wield this power and influence… who undermine We The People, this class of citizens in society, they solely exist because of capitalism.. capitalism is what creates and allows for a capital class… this is a roll over from the systems that capitalism evolved out of…. It’s slightly more distributed power that was under monarchs and feudalism… but the same power hierchy that existed before, continues to exist today. The endless battle for power between the working class and the ownership class, continues on.
No it doesn’t sound crazy at all soads music isn’t really mainstream or radio friendly overall so it doesn’t get the same push or credit as the other stuff. Just wait this music is becoming more relevant now than it was before it will continue that way too
I know you feel that you have a voice thank to youtube - and to an extent you do and I enjoy some of your insights. But, don't get it wrong - you say the wrong thing that trips their alarms and they'll censor you in a heartbeat. When dead has to be replaced with "unalive" and suicide is seen as a trigger, there's no way it can be seen as a place where you can reliably get the truth. Sure, you can probably get more truth than you can by reading a newspaper or watching a network news broadcast - but it's still ruled by algorithms and bots who trawl for things that don't fit the ideals of the overlords and will remove anything they don't like and call it "potentially harmful" material. Dead right about System though - one of the most innovative bands around in their hayday and used their platform to bring issues to the fore and make people think. I hope they were able to bring about some tangeble changes during their time.
This is the song that a lot of us discovered SOAD with. JUST SUGAR!!
This is my generation of music and I agree. I love 70s and 80s, but the 90s and 00s produced some of the best videos and artistic songs
SOAD.... have always been ahead of their time. The subject matter of most of their songs, are eerily still accurate.
S.O.A.D. REALLY SHOOK UP THE MUSIC SCENE IN THE LATE 90'S ...ONE OF THE ALL-TIME GREAT BANDS ... ANY GENRE !
Like Mary Poppins.....just a teaspoon of sugar helps the medicine go down........
I remember listening to this for the first time after MTV did the "Return to the Rock" promotion.
All time legendary band.
Every era and genre has talent that pierces the mundane. That’s my music.
Yes 90's early 2000's lyrics are some amazing things. But now 2 generations of eye opening music and the masses are still sleeping
there's greatness through out all generations... being open to it helps you find it
Happy to see you listen to this.. I thought of you reacting to this every time i saw you sipping on the kombucha tea
Whaaaat WHAT!!!!! Toxicity is a phenomenal album. Check out ANY TUNE from that album
70's Music is my shit but this is the stuff I listened to in my Teen years. These guys are amazing.
This is why some people asked questions....
I truly fucking love system. From back then until this very day
Do yourself a service and listen the entire album
SOAD is an incredible band!! I saw them live in 2002 at Ozzfest, and they are evert bit as good live as on the album. They are outstanding performers!! Songs to check out: Aerials, Chop Suey!, Toxicity, and Psycho. 🤘Rock on, Kelly 🤘
Hands down one of the best concerts back in the day❤
they’re all over the place and completely amazing. i fell in love the first time i heard spiders but prison song and lost in hollywood will always be my number ones

The 90’s was a great age for music.
From like 93 to 2005 was an amazing time
This song brings back memories. Was on the frequent play list in my local rock club and one night I was dancing on a speaker while it was playing. Got to one of the heavier bits and I jumped off. Early 2000s rock was bomb. It really was. And I was there baby
I avoided listening to this song for the longest time because a tiny clip was soo different from Chop Suey, Toxicity, etc. I was so pleasantly surprised when I finally went there. It's one of my favorites now!
I just realized that ending riff is 100% from “for whom the bell tolls”
I was 16 in 1998 & I was (generally, still am) 1 of those rockers who didn't get into the whole nu-metal & modern rock scene. My FAV SOAD song. So in your face, made me a fan.
also i have seen a lot of interpretations of this song, but yours IS the one that makes the most sense. especially with the "Aspertaine Kills" Subliminal messages within it.

High school and college in the 90s
If anyone had a better run of music than me and my generation, let me know!

Yes finally SOAD! A lot of great songs they recorded.

Beans and Rice. He said the thing!❤
This is the one that caught me, SUGAR!
This is my generation's music! 🎶
Another earworm that you really should listen to is Green Day's _When September Ends_
The whole album is genius and they made a Broadway play from it.
But if you only listen to one song from that album (American Idiot) you should listen to that one!

They were for sure a 1 of 1. Wish they would reunite and make 1 more album
I first heard this song after ordering demo tape from the back of a music magazine in the UK
This song sounds like being hopped on SUGAR imo (haha, I wouldn't know though) but in all seriousness I like what you said about System being an innovative band, this was a single with their debut album in 1998 and their sound was always killer to me, my favorite band!
These guys were telling us what was up way before 45 came on the scene
Edit: if you haven’t already, BYOB is pretty mind blowing.
LOVE SOAD!!
Oh BOY! LFG 👀🔥👀
This band is so unique
PLUCK by SOAD is a must!
"the kombucha mushroom people sitting around all day". Speaking of a society being pacified just sitting at home being forced fed the "news" and what the media elites want you to think
Now imagine being a teenager listening to do and being awoken to all this...the world has always been the same.. just new players every once a while
I've been waiting for this one.😂
This band is from the early 90s, so they are "older" music. This is Gen X stuff.
Ukraine is watching. Hello from Kyiv!
Please do a blind reaction to SEVENDUST "Denial"
SOAD is amazing! You should check out Aerials, Chop Suey, and toxicity. Aerials is my favorite. Sugar would've been the 4th.
The toxicity album. Every song bomb
MORE SOAD PLEASE!
Sugar!

mushroom people sitting around all day. Is consuming media that's bad for them. But they're so complacent that they can't get up. 😢
Dextros is sugar. Mushrooms Consume whatever is in the ground where they sit.
For nutrients.
In the end.
It all goes away. No matter what you do. Media.
Makes it a passer by...😢
Something fleeting.
Sit on your ass and do nothing... Or fake that you're doing something.
I don't know what's worse... the obvious bot in the comments or the mouth breathers who keep liking the bot's comments.

Just so u know... John Dolmayan (drums) of System of a Down is a Trump supporter... while Serj Tankian (vocals) is a libertarian leftist...
