Hey, historian here, maybe just a quick explanation for the greek terms in the begining: In Greek Mythology you end up in the underworld (Hades) after you die. However the underworld is split into multiple parts, which are being referenced by the Video. Firstly there's Elysium (latin writing)/ Elysion (greek writing): This is where you wanna go, this is the place to be. All the legendary heroes go here and its basically just a endless big party. Secondly there's Tartaros (greek writing)/ Tartarus (latin writing): This is where you definitly DONT want to go. All the really baaaaad people go here, eternal punishment and torture and all that fun stuff. Maybe it is worth mentioning, that the greek afterlife didnt just know "good ending" and "bad ending". Those were only for exceptionally good or bad people, most just got the third option: Asphodel. Not good not bad just an endless open field where your soul can chill for all eternity, think of it as neutral ending. However it doesnt get mentioned in the Video Lastly Gaia is mentioned which ,as correctly pointed out, means "(mother) earth". Words that contain "Geo" like Geography or Geology are derived from Gaia. So if you wanted to interpret it in a christian sense you could put it as Heaven, Hell and Earth, which thematically resonates quite well with the overall theme. Maybe I could shine some light on the meaning, or at least give my own 2 cents :D
Asphodel is argued over being a meadow or being a field of ash. When you marry into it Christian themes, there's two different theories, one being from before purgatory was removed from Canon, being that to some purgatory was life. There's some schools of thought that posit hell is life on earth as hell is defined as a separation from God. Therefore, Gaia and Asphodel are arguably interchangeable when you're mixing belief systems.

Ren did all of everything from scratch himself on this album - no more Kujo issues, once bitten etc. The video was done by a production company in Canada, and it was shot in April or May of this year, so the hell that he's talking about isn't about his recent relapse. The beat is ridonkulous, no samples, from scratch. He been rope-a-doping us until now. :

Listening to Ren get excited because he can finally eat rice, and that means rice cakes (think about that... excited for rice cakes), so he can have snacks when he travels and seeing him struggle to accept that he may never be able to tour, because his health may never allow it... heart-wrenching.

Been there lived that rigid restricted liquid diet and a handful of foods and herbs. I used to tell people that it was easier to list what I COULD eat. I’m lucky. My autoimmune doc knew I’m allergic to steroids, his advice was to try tiny amounts of new foods and “just see what happens.” It sucked. Ten years later and I’ve added many things that I thought I’d never eat again. It’s not perfect, but what docs know about autoimmune diseases is as vast as the universe. Worse, every single patient is different. I hope with all of my being that Ren gets to experience a treatment that works for his body. He will. I’m old. It hurts to watch him go through this process again and again. Be well Ren, and bright blessings to all. 🙏 ❤️🩹💛

With an autoimmune disorder and mental health from the suffering of health issues it is so hard to understand unless you go through it. I have lived with fibromyalgia and spinal cord/back issues for 35 years and it breaks your outlook of life and even moment to moment. Got bless him.

In the early scene where Ren is tied down, is when he was accidentally stabbed in the eye by a a pair of rusty forceps, resulting in him being rushed to A&E and nearly going blind in that eye. Ren explains on Twitch how he pushed on filming for another hour in extreme pain with that eye streaming. He explained that if you look carefully at the 'holding his decapitated head scene' you can see on the decapitated head his swollen streaming eye. The man is a legend.
Ren is incredible at making you think, then feel, then wonder, then want to see everyone else go through the same mental progression. Personally, I think he, and his team, are the most intriguing group of artists active today.

Agreed- hearing the delete comment hits hard. We don't know Ren but we feel like we do and want to protect him. I have a loved one who has been struggling with the deletion thoughts and it hurts seeing people we admire and people we care about in pain.

I'm sorry about your friend 😢 I suffer with heart issues, autoimmunity and dysautonomia. I also considered doing the same in 2017. I told my cardiac surgeon that if he didit help me, it would all end that day one way or another. He did help along with friends like you and my family. They kept me here and then I found Ren and to see someone else going through the same struggles made me fight harder. I got the heart surgery and I'm 80% better than I was so it can get better. It does get better.

The last image, it's Okja, from the Korean movie some years back. Okja is a genetically modified pig. It's a powerful film, it's quite a statement for him to use it. Essentially, it's still a "pig." To get the full effect, you need to watch the movie and not just read a synopsis. I also just realized it's a movie where a young girl tries to save Okja from the slaughterhouse, so I'm 100% sure that is Okja.
This song (among others like massochist and crutch) is his interpretation of going through what is known as dark night of the soul. This one is now a more personal version of massochist. He first gave us what to do (distroy everything that doesn't bring you to your authentic self) and now this is a visual representation of him doing just that. I am confident that the next album is him rebuilding himself into what HE wants. I cannot wait til the end of the album cause it's only going to get much better as he rebuilds himself from the trauma he went through. Now that he's on a much better path (yes, with hardships, which is to be expected, he is still better than before.) I strongly believe he will show us him rebuilding himself with the improvement of his health and the love from his friends family and renegades! Sick boi was when he was in the thick of his medical hardships (mid chapters time) now he out out of that nightmare and into a much better place so I feel this album will show that.

Ironically, Malcolm MacDowell (MM) also almost went blind in this segment of ACO. The eye clamps scratched MM's cornea's so badly that he was almost blinded. In the operating room scene, someone accidently poked Ren in the eye with a rusty forceps. Ren produced 100% of the beats, songs and direction of this video and the Slaughter House album to be released. Thursday's (11/28) drop is going to be the first in a Ren mini-series of direction for the Prometheus and merch drop. Netflix, pay fooking attention. 7 sins for 7 Rens. Perfectly said. There are days when outwardly I go through the motions, but the message in my head is on a continuous loop. I’m so exhausted and refuse to be a burden. I told my SO recently that I cannot recall ever not being in pain. There are simply different levels of pain. We’ve been married for 30 years, and that piece of information seemed to stun him. I suggest people read up on the Dark Night of the Soul. It's common when you go through a turning point in your life. Something happens in your life that has you so crushed that your soul begs to have a change essentially. So you go through the DNOTS. Everything about your current life gets reexamined and you see where things need to change (think of it as the whole mid life crisis) its a state of ego death, soul rebirth, and finding true honest happiness. Finding happiness within yourself and what is around you. This is often times when some get into religion or spirituality because the Dark Night is a very spiritual process.
My little boy died in a ridiculous accident 3 years ago this month. I became totally lost. I couldn't figure out who I was or if I was even real. I thought I was hallucinating it or was still in the hospital. (I'd just come home from the ICU after being intubated and comatose.) I went through a period of hating God, myself, and everyone else. Now? I'm beginning to get sick of feeling like I'm in stasis, like I'm barely alive, just surviving. I hope with everything that's left of my heart, that there's an emergence into the light on the other side of the next door.

Knox says there will be more of her on the album :) It's insane that the guy can be as ripped as he is and still be damn near critically ill. The logo at the end is the Slaughter House album logo. I thought I understood pain until my car accident injury. I tried to function without help but decided if I had to live with that level of permanent pain I didn't want to. Thankfully I was able to get enough meds that destroyed my career but I'm alive and somewhat functional. I've experienced my personal 10 out of 10 pain, and I still can't even begin to imagine what this man lives with.

In the early scene where Ren is tied down, is when he was accidentally stabbed in the eye by a a pair of rusty forceps, resulting in him being rushed to A&E and nearly going blind in that eye. Ren explains on Twitch how he pushed on filming for another hour in extreme pain with that eye streaming. He explained that if you look carefully at the 'holding his decapitated head scene' you can see on the decapitated head his swollen streaming eye. The man is a legend.

Agreed- hearing the delete comment hits hard. We don't know Ren but we feel like we do and want to protect him. I have a loved one who has been struggling with the deletion thoughts and it hurts seeing people we admire and people we care about in pain.

I'm sorry about your friend 😢 I suffer with heart issues, autoimmunity and dysautonomia. I also considered doing the same in 2017. I told my cardiac surgeon that if he didit help me, it would all end that day one way or another. He did help along with friends like you and my family. They kept me here and then I found Ren and to see someone else going through the same struggles made me fight harder. I got the heart surgery and I'm 80% better than I was so it can get better. It does get better.

Ren is Iconic
The last image, it's Okja, from the Korean movie some years back. Okja is a genetically modified pig. It's a powerful film, it's quite a statement for him to use it. Essentially, it's still a "pig." To get the full effect, you need to watch the movie and not just read a synopsis. I also just realized it's a movie where a young girl tries to save Okja from the slaughterhouse, so I'm 100% sure that is Okja.
Except... Ren has said it's a bunny. It's basically the new "mascot" for the Slaughter House era.
This song (among others like massochist and crutch) is his interpretation of going through what is known as dark night of the soul. This one is now a more personal version of massochist. He first gave us what to do (distroy everything that doesn't bring you to your authentic self) and now this is a visual representation of him doing just that. I am confident that the next album is him rebuilding himself into what HE wants. I cannot wait til the end of the album cause it's only going to get much better as he rebuilds himself from the trauma he went through. Now that he's on a much better path (yes, with hardships, which is to be expected, he is still better than before.) I strongly believe he will show us him rebuilding himself with the improvement of his health and the love from his friends family and renegades! Sick boi was when he was in the thick of his medical hardships (mid chapters time) now he out out of that nightmare and into a much better place so I feel this album will show that.

This was filmed in January 2024. Kendrick inspired opening. Elysium is the best part of Heaven, Tartaros (also an acceptable spelling-Greek) is the worst part of Hell, Gaia is mother earth - the dichotomy of the journey between them. The struggle between yourself and yourself. I almost cried when he said he liked the cling film table because it felt like a 45 minute hug....The beat/flow changes are his ADHD so he doesn't get bored. 🤣 The operating room is a nod to A Clockwork Orange (ACO). Ironically, Malcolm MacDowell (MM) also almost went blind in this segment of ACO. The eye clamps scratched MM's cornea's so badly that he was almost blinded. In the operating room scene, someone accidently poked Ren in the eye with a rusty forceps. Ren produced 100% of the beats, songs and direction of this video and the Slaughter House album to be released. Thursday's (11/28) drop is going to be the first in a Ren mini-series of direction for the Prometheus and merch drop. Netflix, pay fooking attention. 7 sins for 7 Rens. He callbacks all of the Sick Boi Songs and a few more from his catalogue.
The Head on a Platter was filmed after he got gouged in the eye with the rusty forceps. He refused to find out who did it because he didn't want to low-key hate them for almost making him blind. The Bunny is named Johnson. There is a Jamaican Boxer named Bunny Johnson, the first British heavy weight boxing champ and then there's Watership Down and all of the bloodstained bunnies. Recently Juliet Johnson, the granddaughter of Adams, who wrote Watership Down (originally the idea was from the story he told his granddaughters at bedtime) just had the rights to the book returned to her family through court. So Johnson is a bunny that fights for rights! Ren did a breakdown on Twitch then watched Knox's breakdown. He was happy that Knox missed one of the bars. He said that he has started to write to mess with Knox to keep Knox on his toes.

Perfectly said. There are days when outwardly I go through the motions, but the message in my head is on a continuous loop. I’m so exhausted and refuse to be a burden. I told my SO recently that I cannot recall ever not being in pain. There are simply different levels of pain. We’ve been married for 30 years, and that piece of information seemed to stun him. I’m an expert at appearing normal … tho I crash for days after any stress event happens that’s off my typical routine. I’m just glad I’m old and the road ahead is shorter than it is long. Sigh. ☮️

The Wings from Freckled Angels {\o/}, Sick Boi, and Johnson the Bunny for the next part of the journey. Dylan Thomas's Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night is on his back and then a Celtic Knot Triquetra on one of his forearms, he seemed really happy to show his ink. ..... and most people that don't have them probably won't understand why we get all giddy over ink.😆🤗

I suggest people read up on the Dark Night of the Soul. It's common when you go through a turning point in your life. Something happens in your life that has you so crushed that your soul begs to have a change essentially. So you go through the DNOTS. Everything about your current life gets reexamined and you see where things need to change (think of it as the whole mid life crisis) its a state of ego death, soul rebirth, and finding true honest happiness. Finding happiness within yourself and what is around you. This is often times when some get into religion or spirituality because the Dark Night is a very spiritual process.
My little boy died in a ridiculous accident 3 years ago this month. I became totally lost. I couldn't figure out who I was or if I was even real. I thought I was hallucinating it or was still in the hospital. (I'd just come home from the ICU after being intubated and comatose.)
I went through a period of hating God, myself, and everyone else.
Now? I'm beginning to get sick of feeling like I'm in stasis, like I'm barely alive, just surviving.
I hope with everything that's left of my heart, that there's an emergence into the light on the other side of the next door.

I thought I understood pain until my car accident injury. I tried to function without help but decided if I had to live with that level of permanent pain I didn't want to. Thankfully I was able to get enough meds that destroyed my career but I'm alive and somewhat functional. I've experienced my personal 10 out of 10 pain, and I still can't even begin to imagine what this man lives with.
