Your description of hooking the positive/red up first and then the negative/black second, both to the battery, will not stop a spark which can explode the battery if explosive gases are given off. The proper way is to hook up the positive/red first to the battery, as you describe, and then the second negative/black to a heavy ground on the engine that is away from the battery where gases could exist and be ignited by a spark, if one occurs . This same procedure is used to jump a car, with the last connection being made on the car being jumped since the running car is more likely to be generating gases since the alternator on the running car is charging the battery on the running car and charging a battery often causes explosive gases to be generated. When jumping a car, both connections on the running car can be made on the battery since the circuit is not complete until the fourth connection is made on the heavy ground away from the battery of the non-running car. Saying again, when jumping a car, the last, of the four connections, is to a heavy ground, that is away from the battery on the non-running car . . . and that last connection made, is the first connection removed when the jumping process is complete i.e. for the same reason that if a spark will occur, it will be when the circuit is being completed (at last connection) or the circuit is being broken when the first connection is removed. Hope this helps.
What can you say about the digital battery tester analyzer that have state of health and charge ????
By the way I’ve jumped over 2000 times in the last 2 years and I’ve never seen a battery blow up or anything near that
2000 jumps, dam must be tow truck driver, contracted to AAA .I bought the jumper pack, that starts my 7.3 power stroke, that has two batteries, Saved me many times, and others.. good investment .
Thank sir
Calibrate the analog tester!
I think your meter is screwed up seeing as it says over 14 volts and you had a charge of 13
My brand new battery tester smoked a bit on the top, resistor after only about 3 seconds. Is that normal? Suppose it gets hot and is burning off something from manufacturing?
That's what im wondering. Mine did the same thing
100% completely normal when their new.
@@404notfound..... oh okay good, it scared me at first 😂 I thought I screwed something up
My load test came out to just under 11 volts. Good enough or need replacement ?
Are you supposed to test this while the car is on or off?
Off
The problem is almost always CCA, so this won’t help knowing that
Maker starter click while cranking engine. I bench test starter and it work. Battery half year old and check voltage and it say 12.4 volt. What could be wrong?
Charge the battery and make sure after charging it stays over 12.6 volts after a few hours. Make sure your volt meter is accurate and even then a battery that reads 12.5 volts open could drop to 8 volts under load if its bad or defective.
I try to charge to 12.5 volt but it click and same old problem. I think it might be defective or sulfation inside battery is bad because I test it with same tool you have here. The cranking power on battery seem to be very low on tester, and not enough power to crank starter. Maybe, the store gave me bad battery. Don't know how they keep battery on shelf for long and not charge it. I have warranty o it, and gonna send it back for brand new one.
Could be a bed key fob sometimes a magnetic decoder becomes demagnetized and you have to buy a new key
so, does the battery have to be fully charged for an accurate load test?
i just went to get my tires rotated and ford service claimed to do a load test without my request. they said the battery is bad but i've never had any indication of a bad battery. also, wouldn't they have to CHARGE my battery before the test? and why would they charge my battery for free just to do a load test a never requested?
i'm suspicious of a scam. should i be?
also, where's the date of installation on batteries? if i knew the date of installation it might give a clearer idea of whether the battery might be in need of replacement.
if your cars alternator and charging system is properly working your battery should be charged enough for a load test, often a bad battery will not show signs of being bad until extreme cold or hot conditions then it just quits. load test takes 30 seconds to do and many service centers do them as a way to sell you a battery before it fails and leaves you sitting.
So this is not a jump starter just tester?
Right
can you please tell me how many ampere it take from battery while test ?
130 amps
thumbs up JJ
Thanks my brother
Heating element
Can I start a dead battery wt this ?
No
Damn. Mine's not so good.
That’s funny
Load time week what problem
*weak. Probably sulfated
“I’m a little retarded”🤣🤣
Needs more lip smacking.
You got it wrong @ 1:13 . Red one comes off first.. Always. When applying; red goes on last.. Always.. Think about it - the entire car is negative grounded. Black connectors on negative posts dont create any grounding danger. But hooking up red to positive posts first energizes the equipment, making it vulnerable to accidental grounding.
Thx. So glad you taught me this.
@@everyone2975 It's very odd, I can't explain it. But if the whole car is "emitting" negative, and you hook up red first, then there is a risk of your black lead making arcs and sparks if it accidentally brushes ANY metal part.
On the other hand if you connect black first, the device "emits" negative like the rest of the car. The only chance of accidental sparks is if the red lead brushes up against the positive battery post only. The very same post you are going to connect to, deliberately.
. thanks I will try it that way from now on. I did get a little spark when I followed their directions.
@@everyone2975 Good idea. keep in mind that some sparks upon clamping to the positive post (done correctly 'our' way) still might occur. This is unavoidable.
Stop smoking your lips....
