“It can be really fun to just create your own world… But if your passion is writing, you have to come to grips with some of the limitations of what a novel has to do in order to function”

Not great advice tbh. Idk how anyone could picture themselves in a world like Garland’s Annihilation or Interstellar but the idea is to go deeper instead of wider. The OP’s fantasy world sounds dope and I have questions about the seasons, crops, hibernation of species, other celestial bodies, the makeup of gases in the atmosphere, this tree of life, etc. (so deeper) as opposed to wider (new races coming up from underground, inter dimensional/extra terrestrial invasion, magical items/weapons, colonization of this new outer space bc of the degradation of the old world, etc.) all of which would be overwhelming for the reader especially in a one off and not in a series, but even a series needs to parallel/call back to Act I.
