.32 is an underrated round, and this is the best gun that shoots it. I wish Beretta USA would have gone with rerelease of this rather than releasing tricked out Memecats and the strange 80X that tries to turn the Cheetah series into a tactical abomination. It's a treat to see this video because the Beretta 84 has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows, but the Beretta 81 has pretty much only appeared in Scarface. What an appearance, though. Somehow it fits Tony Montana perfectly: Unexpectedly refined and intelligent, but with 12 rounds in the magazine, still extremely capable and deadly.
Thanks for the comment mate!
You can throw the magajin and right after the bareta, it is useless.
Very popular in the 60s and 70s ,mobsters and citizens alike.
The .32 is underrated with European spec ammo like Sellier & Bellot, and Fiocchi. American spec ammo lacks the minimum oomph, IMO.
Miss. The cheetah is amazing. And selling very well.
A large batch of Italian police surplus 81s came into the US a few years ago. I picked up one in excellent condition for 199.00. I had always wanted one because of Scarface. The gun shoots like butter. Very refined. No recoil to speak of and with the DA-SA trigger you can mag dump 12 shots into a few inches from typical self defense distances. The only challenge is that holster choices are somewhat limited, you need to search. I carry it on occasion and feel well armed with it. Also, ammo isn’t as abundant as 9mm or 380. Look at ammo testing…FMJ appears to be better for penetration. Fiocchi 71 grain tested 15-18 inches. Thanks for the post.
Consider Sellier & Bellot ammo as well.
@@filippocorti6760I own several of these, reload, and chronograph ammo. Fiocchi averages about 950 fps from these guns. S&B 950-1000 fps depending on the batch. Drop in an Allegheny Arms extended threaded barrel and gain another 50-100 fps. Serious!
Then the gun starts to smack a little like a .380. No big deal.
Keep your recoil springs fresh! 1500 rounds is a good interval, 2500 rds at most with weaker brands of ammo. Change even more often with a .380 Cheetah.
You got a silence like he had never mind I don't want you to think I'm the atf
@@Cogic silencers / suppressors aren't hard to get legally in most states. I use a Omega 9K on my 81FS or BB with an Allegheny Arms threaded drop-in barrel. It's a little difficult because it obscures the sights but still fun.
Excellent call out on blinking! Mel Gibson flinching in Leathal Weapon indoor range while supposedly being a pro shot kills that scene more than the fired round count discrepancy. Still, the happy face pattern is a classic.
Yep; first time we rented it (in '88) that scene drove my dad nuts.
Oh perfect, I just rewatched Scarface the other day and was thinking about his ever present Cheetah. He always did have a thing for big cats after all.
I love the Beretta 81 and 92. I served in the Italian army (98-00) and we got to fire the 92 at the range all the time. Such a reliable, quality pistol and very accurate too
Thanks for commenting!
The 84FS is the modern day way to go when it come to a Cheetah.
I never noticed how little sense that club shootout escape scene made. "Commando" was more believable than that light fixture just shooting itself from the ceiling directly above the only guy firing.
Its coming soon.
Fortunately someone placed squibs on the supports of the lights, that just happened to go off during the shootout. Otherwise who knows if Tony would've made it out of the club...😅
One of the henchmen did shoot up into the lights, could have damaged the rod holding the lights and it failed structurally and arced out upon failing.
@nicktaylor2544 Thank you, I can suspend my disbelief with that explanation. I love this movie again!
@@jegermuscles8461 glad I could help lol, sick fuckin movie
Your content continues to be very fun and informative. Big Beretta fan as well, but like many I don't have any experience with the 81, so lots of things I didn't know here.
I appreciate that
Browning BDA was featured in 1997 film The Devil’s Own staring both Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt and the Beretta 84 was also used by Rico Tubbs on Miami Vice
The Devil's own..... I had forgotten that one. I must look into it further, thanks.
I carried the ancient 1911 in the mid 80's , prior to the Beretta rollout. At that time I had no attraction to the model 92. Years later I voted with my dollars for a Cheetah.
the 81 is my favourite .32 pistol just behind the PPK (I love James Bond, especially Connery)
This has Quickly became one of my favorite channels on here dude
Thanks mate!
My first introduction to the Cheetah series was actually from the survival horror videogame Parasite Eve. The main character Aya Brea, a NYC Detective carries a M84F at the start of the game. It's also worth noting that at the start of the game she is off duty. In the sequel game she upgrades to a M93R realizing she would need more firepower when dealing with the monsters she encounters.
Extremely handsome weapon. Love the open slide
I was waiting for another one of your videos and it was another great one thank you very much. It looks like you put a lot of time and effort into making them. The quality of them is impeccable.👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much!
I've been waiting for this video for a long time
Awesome - Hope it was worth the wait!
Not a huge firearm fan but I love 70s and 80s action films and esoteric film trivia. Subscribed!
Welcome!
I love Berettas! My cheetah is a BB model. I have a slew of 92’s of course. My favorite are the pocket pistols. 950 Jetfire, 21A Bobcat, and the 2032 Tomcat with threaded barrel and wood grips. (We can get permits for suppressors where I live).
I also love their semiautomatic shotguns.
Wow !! Big beretta fan here as well ! Maybe we are related lol!! I have a beretta 81 BB and then the original ( bb is heavier ) . I also have 2 tomcats ( one with threaded barrel ) and my Dad has Bobcat . Plus own several 92s . I also owned a beretta 84 but it was stolen .
i love watching the movie and then playing the game Scarface The World Is Yours as it continues the story beyond the film by allowing Tony Montana To survive the ending of the film.
I wish they added the Beretta 81 in it. The in-game ".38 Automatic" is just a darker colour 1911 and the inventory icon is just a PPK.
Please do "The pit viper" from John wick
LAMO - I dont have that kind of change to spend on a pistol. I am going to do the P30L from JW1 though.....
As a kid growing up in the 80's and 90's ive always loved the Beretta series of pistols and even had a toy 81 back in the day, alas living in the uk we are not alowed to own /collect such masterpieces, but some years ago when i used to airsoft skirmish i invested in a beautiful WE manufactured inox 84 which featured a de-cocker, one of those things i wish i never sold on. Great vid my friend, cant wait for the Mac10 episode
Thanks Mate, MAC 10 coming soon in the new year.
Jesse Pinkman also used a Beretta 84F twice in Breaking Bad. Once in an attempt to get revenge on the drug dealers for the murder of a child before Walter showed up in his Aztek and ran them over, and again to kill Gale. In a later season Mike used one with a suppressor to kill one of his own men who had been paid by Lydia to kill him, and later used the same gun to threaten Lydia herself. Great video and analysis, keep it up!
Thanks for the comment and extra info Keith.
I was in charge of a large Metro Vice narcotics unit before the change to semi-automatics from revolvers.
I told the chief I don't need a gun that screams police like the 38 special. So I must admit I played him. I asked him could we carry 9 mm and he said City Hall won't approve it because the bullet's too big. So I said well how about the 380 and he said okay LOL
So we will issue the Browning BDA six magazines a piece. We carried the Winchester Silva tip and we had very good success with it.
Wow, awesome stories. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful examples you have there. I'm a big Beretta fan. My EDC is a compact PX4 Storm from LTT. Val Kilmer also carried a Cheetah in Heat. The scene where he was sleeping on Deniros floor
Thanks for sharing!
@@hollywoodguns Paul Kersey ( Charles Bronson ) carried a cheetah in Death Wish 2
coming back to this video a month later i gotta say, i admire how clean all those pistols were 🤌
Thanks! I feel I have a responsibility to preserve them for future generations!
Good one. Those Berettas look so good! When will you show us the Colt Detective special?
Just found your channel. Time to watch all your videos!
Hope you enjoy them!
I'm a co2 pistol enthusiast and the Cheetah is my favorite. I have 4 of them, they fit so well in my hand palm, just an excellent grip. The M84 feels like an extension of the fist and makes a fast aiming possible. Your pistols are so immaculate, what a gorgeous steel bluing and polished grip pads...amazing care. You need a SIG P210, that matches your style. I like your channel, greetings from Barcelona.
What air gun model did you get? I've only seen one that has a very visible screw and fold co2 cartridge mechanism under the magazine. If it wasn't for that I'd have a nice collection of them nowadays.
Thanks and yes I do need a P210! Hola!
@@freetobe3 Yes my friend, they don't are so realistic but they are very, very powerful. The barrel is also the striker and bb feeder. The mother manufacturer is WinGun, the M84 is a WG301. I got also the M87 Target wich has a longer barrel. I have a tuned up Cheetah in cal. 6mm and shoots 0,90gram steel bb's at speed of 110ms wich is 5,5 Joules of energy. Serious stuff, i can pump up more by stretching more the striker coil spring. Cheers
Even lesser known but very similar is the 70S which is a single action, single stack blowback pistol that shares similar appearance. I had one back in the '70's in 380 and it was of equal quality to the other Beretta's I've had.
Another great video! I bought a Taurus PT 58 last year because I really wanted the 380 Beretta Cheetah but I knew Taurus used the same machines from Beretta Italy, so I figured just as good. I love the not so little gun. However, a friend of mine picked up a European model Cheetah with the heel magazine release. Now his is half the thickness with the same capacity as mine. Not sure of the years they were made but there’s the difference. Thickness of the grip left to right. Other than slight pangs of jealousy now and then I carry it in my daily rotation.
oh wow, thats cool. I didnt know they had a European model. Now I will have to try and find one......
Love mine. LOK makes a great set of grips for them.
the model 81BB did habe a decocking position in the safety. i had one a few yrs back when a bunvh were inported from italy(ex prison dept pistols), was a nice shooter for a 32, found out could make it a 380 with barrel swap n mag but was a bit much for the parts at the time. great video as always.
Incorrect. The no-suffix models have no passive firing pin disconnector or decocker. Just a manual safety. The B and BB add the firing pin disconnector. The F added the decocker, then the FS also included the slide catch in case the slide breaks while firing it won't hit the shooter in the face.
I've NEVER heard of this happening. It did happen on an early batch of M9 9mm's that may have had a bad heat treatment.
I still have 81 b its amazing pistol 🇮🇳
Great now I have to go get a model 81. Great video, buddy
You should!
LOVE the 81..!! If the 92 had a son..!! hehe
Love how it looks like a mini 92 and still has a double stack magazine.
They look great together!
Val Kilmer also carried a model84 with Robert deniro the movie was heat
yeah, I totally forgot, which is silly as its my all time favorite movie!
This was my very 1st gun and it was because of this movie. My second was the Beretta 92F from lethal weapon
That’s what I’m talking about!
Great Review would you notify about the next video you'll feature The Thompson Sub Machine Gun Can't Wait for that one.
The Cheetah is the most beautiful pistol ever made. I need to get an 84F or FS. I used to have an 84BB that was surplus from the Italian postal police
Aim Surplus has trade ins in stock right now.
Im an offbeat reloader and have a fascination with the 380 pistols of the world. Went thru a divorce and of course lost everything, had to pay off attorneys, you know! I found all the 380 pistols were very easy to load for and were smooth shooters once you lucked into a custom load that fed and ejected and flew straight, you just made those by the thousands when my reloading machine got some attention. Cast lead bullets made my PPK, Cheeta, Makarov, CZ 83, etc digest thousands of rounds, and with my brass catcher trapping all the ejected brass my reloading machine turned them into ammunition in just one evening. The 380 wont let you down in a fight, has enough power behind it to do the job, is efficient and easy to put rounds on target, it truly is the best concealed carry round out there today. Now maybe I should give that .32acp a try, anyone have any experience loading this mini round?
Walther just re-released the PPK in 32acp. Saw one in Cabala's today as a matter of fact.
That's awesome. Good work Walther!
I have no experience of reloading, but I have a feeling that it is an itch that will need scratching soon....
Yes I reload for my .32 Berettas.
The main key is to know that .32 acp & 7.65x17 are slightly different! 7.65 (Fiocchi, S&B use thicker cases and narrower bullets (.308, .309"/.310"). .32 (US brands) use thinner brass & wider bullets (.311, .312, .313)
Mismatched bullets & cases will cause problems!
Otherwise it's no big deal. I load 78 gr coated lead bullets lightly for suppressor use.
These guns cycle with light loads. 78 gr @740 fps and no problems on fresh recoil sping.
Consider an Allegheny Arms extended threaded barrel. They are tight (.308 bore) and add velocity.
Change recoil spring 500-1000 rds for .380. Maybe 1500 for light loads. You can go longer firing .32.
Say hello to my really little friend!
Nicely done!
Thanks Mate.
Really glad this channel is growing, love the content and research that must be being put it to obtain all the information. Not sure how you have time! What about Shooter and the sniper rifle used in that something that your Bear Arms gun shop can supply?
I'll look into it Bro. Its military designation is M40A3 - Built on the Remington 700 series.
@@hollywoodguns I mean any sniper rifle really :)
I believe my 81 surplus was from the Italian Penal System.
Thanks for this info.
Great video 👍👏🫡
Thank you! Cheers!
This was the pistol I would have liked before the UK hand gun ban. Had to make do with airsoft versions later sadly.
Super nice to get this suggested to me as I just bought a 84 BB Cheetah. Subscribed before you even asked the first time 😂
Thank you and hope you enjoy the channel!
I dig the browning. It’s rly unique and I want one bad. Just can’t ever find one when I got the cash to play with
I bought mine when that last batch on surplus guns came in. It's my EDC. When I de-cock it, I put my left thumb in front of the hammer, my right thumb on the back, and pull the trigger just until it breaks and let the trigger go forward, and then lower the hammer. Then the hammer block would block the hammer from the firing pin. But you're right, be careful!
I love that it’s your EDC!
i have an 80x cheetah and love it i also have a clone of the original model 84 the girsan mc14g84.
Very interesting. i always thought it was the 84 cheetah
84 with different Trigger guard is more pleasing to the eye
Love those. Do Rick hunters guns. From hunter
The HKP9S?
I love your channel! Just found it! Do a video on True Grit starring John Wayne and Kim Darby about their iconic guns! Thanks!
Thanks Mate. I've added True Grit to my future list. Thanks.
Just a quick note, the 80 series takes their lineage from the Beretta M1934
Thanks for that info - I didnt know that. I will have to investigate that model.
Surplus 1934’s are coming in now.
Love my 81. Fantastic pistol, great accuracy and almost no recoil. Mine hss Italian police markings, but no import stamps, pretty interesting. I originally got it for a carry piece, but keep it for a beside drawer gun now. Small spaces plus big, loud cartridges are not a winning combo.
Brad Pitt used a BDA in The Devil's Own, and Ron Eldard used one in Sleepers.
True that on the 81 being a great night stand piece.
I have a Savage 1917 and a Walther PP - both in .32acp. Both would be good subjects for the channel. I got the Savage because Jude Law used one in ROAD TO PERDITION (although I believe it was the .380 version). Even though the Beretta 81 holds 4 more rounds, I would still prefer the Walther PP. It's just SUCH a good design and just feels good in in your hand.
I think I am going to do a video soon on a Walther PP in .32ACP because my research suggests that it was mistakenly the actual gun used in Doctor No.......
@hollywoodguns The Forgotten Weapons channel made an episode about Bond holsters and they show several examples of the PP being shown as the "PPK".
I can't believe you left out Heat where Val Kilmer is seen carrying one. I don't think he shoots it in the movie but the character has an 84 I think.
Yeah, the hangover scene.
I think Charles Bronson used a Beretta Cheetah in one of the Death Wish films.
Big worm in Friday also packed a 84
Suggestion for another video: the S & W 6904, the off duty pistol used in Speed.
I look into that one, Thanks
M1935 Beretta was also 32acp
I have a Beretta 84 bb. It is a neat pistol
Great channel! How about a video covering the guns from “Training Day”?
The S&W 4506 is coming soon!!!
Excellent video - blink rating ? ;)
Hey Wilson love the vids. Just watched a great doc on Netflix about Wyatt Earp. Got me thinking about lever action rifles and six guns like in Tombstone. Just a thought, keep up the great work!
Thanks Mate - I hope to get to the old West guns soon.
Glad I found this channel. Are you based in the UK?
nope - I'm in the USA.
You forgot Brad Pitt for a split second in HEAT when he’s passed out of the floor in. Dineros condo he’s got one next to him in a holster
Pretty sure it was Val Kilmer
yes it was and I totally forgot that scene.
If you can find the red box fiocchi .32 auto ammo made in Italy. It's probably the spiciest.32 acp. I've found other than some old ammo I found at the shop I worked at.
Thanks for the recommendaton.
@hollywoodguns no problem. That the ammo used in WW2 was wayyyyy Spicer then modern .32acp. That and buffalo bore makes hard cast .32acp that gets it up to .380acp power level. Which I don't think it adds any additional recoil. Which there never was and that's why you gotta love .32acp.
Fiocchi & S&B are the hottest. 950-1000 fps. Buffalo Bore 75 gr gave me 970 fps avg.

305 Miami mood, if you know you know.
I have to say I dont know.... Can you enlighten me please?
@@hollywoodgunsThe atmosphere of Miami Beach, has a certain feel, it’s best experienced after an all nighter when you see the sun come up, or on a misty deserted evening on one of the million backstreets and tree lined drives off ocean drive. The city that never sleeps fits this town as well. The whole city is international and there are a million stories that will never be told, every night. It’s the magic city, it is the stuff dreams are made of, it’s everything to people that get bit by the bug. Go down there and see the city away from the tourist areas… live there, and get a glimpse of the vibe out in the neighborhoods… if you haven’t been there I highly recommend it Brickell, coral gables, mid beach, south beach. It’s very hard to explain, that’s why I said if you understand, that I don’t need to. Hope this helps. Get on Flickr and look for the Miami folders there. You might see something of what I’m speaking…..
Let’s not forget that Tony Montana and Manny had stated that they were both in the Cuban Army.

I had to sell mine this year due to moving costs but plan on buying another. Last 3 years I had a 84bb a 85 and a original 81. I know the Guardia Di Finanzia in Italy carried the 85 because mine was marked G.F. and I know the italian national forestry service used it too.

I thought the last of the old 81FS was 2017. No?
@ i checked the serial number online it said manufactured in 2019.
I have gotten to go though a lot of imports dumped from Italian police stock. When it comes to Italian pistols, it is a tour of the Beretta catalog, ha. I am sure a lot of that is national pride. Beretta is a VERY Italian company and has been a staple of Italy for...well they are the oldest continuous gun company for a reason.
As for the flinching, That does seem to make sense as something to note, but if a character is inexperienced within the story, it would make sense that they would handle the firearm in an inexperienced manor, so that has to be considered as well.
Very true on your flinching comment. I'll consider the characters "experience" in future videos. Tony and Manny are both ex-Cuban military in Scarface so they ought to be good. Riggs in Lethal Weapon is supposed to be ex-special forces so his performance at the gun range smiley face scene isnt good....
these are great , youhave a decent collection, i have the single stack beretta 380, used of course, very comfortable handgun to fire ( these did not hold as many rounds ),theres a few versions of the 92 where they shortened the barrel and or the frame , still very nice versions, did they use the chainsaw because it was quieter the suppressed machinegun ?, that part seemed awkward but they did portraythe gruesome cartels
The use of the chainsaw was to terrify Tony into giving them the location of the money. How is that hard to understand? A quick death is preferable to being cut up, so because the guns had no effect on Tony's disposition, they turned to brutality to try to get the money out of him.
what about the suppressor added with no place to add it?
Great comment...... Yep, no threaded barrel sticking out..... I should have noticed this before. Good observation mate!
I subbed before you asked, love the content, you do any Franchi Spas or Ingram Mac10/11, or the UZI 9mm, or the Auto shotgun with drum mag?
All three coming soon.

They're cool. Very retro.
Do the Beretta 84 "Death Wish 2"
When I get an 84, for sure!
You ever going to do Snake's custom Mac-10 from Escape New York?
I am - In a few videos time.
What do you do to get such high-gloss guns? I've never seen a Beretta so well finished.
There are many ways to clean up a gun, but the one that works best for me for a blued finish is: When I first buy it, I clean it up with CLP and give it a good scrubbing. Then, I wipe on a small amount of FLITZ metal polish and it removes decades of patina and unseen rust without taking off the blueing. That brings the gun back to a great sparkle. Then as I shoot the guns, I clean them as normal, coat with a bit of gun oil or CLP and then buff with a cotton rag. This keeps them in this really great condition. You don't want to polish blued guns very often with Flitz, or leave it on the metal for very long (just 30-60 secs is fine) because it can take the blueing off. However once every few decades is fine!!
@@hollywoodguns congratulations on having such beautiful weapons! I spend hours cleaning my weapons, but never have I achieved such a result.
Thank you for your advice, I have just placed an order with Fliz.

@hollywoodguns it was featured as the bad guys gun in behind enemy lines with Owen Wilson. There are some other Notable uses of it.
Would love to see a video of the shotgun in Terminator 2 since i am looking for a shotgun and they make a cimarron reproduction for $600. Found a real Winchester 1887 for the same price at a gun show a few weeks ago and regret not buying it. It did have wear and the tube under the barrel did have a concerning looking loose plate i guess it is that i didn’t like but i am sure it could have been fixed and the gun would have worked anyways
I too am looking for a reasonably priced 1887. I will probably get a 1901 with the strengthened action though as it can shoot modern cartridges and not just black powder ones.
I don't know if the 2nd shot on Mel in Scarface was realistic. I don't think he would become unconscious that quickly. Life usually drains from a person when shot. I'd guess this is especially so with a .32 if it leads to death.
I thought it looked like a heart shot…..

I like the 92FS. A stainless 92 was the first handgun I ever fired and it was real nice. Don’t know much about the 81 but it looks functionally similar.
The lady on the bed always reminded me of grizelda would seem starting off mean and hateful as he'll with that mac
She always reminds me of Jerry Miculek, because whatever she says in Spanish, it sounds like "Get some"
@hollywoodguns 😂😂
