I would say she's slowly getting recognition, she just released a snippet of a new song she wrote called "R.I.P" that has an arabic influence and it went viral on tiktok so she's releasing the whole song at the end of this month 🙂

I imagine if she "showed more skin" she'd probably be a lot more popular at this point - but I am thankful that she is not taking that route and doing it her way - she is such an excellent role model and she doesn't need to follow the standard pop route to fame.

Faouzia's career may have been slowed by the fact that she was and may still be in school, plus covid and her own contact at Atlantic records dying unexpectedly in a car accident around 2 years ago. I am not quite sure about being prejudiced in the industry, Atlantic flew the Monarchs up to Manitoba to work with her on Puppet in the middle of the Canadian winter, the budget afforded to her regarding MV productions, and the amount of artistic freedom they give her shows that she is in good standing with the industry.

I agree. She is working with some very successful people. Co-writers seem to be positive. It’s a chancy business. And if she’s not letting herself get pushed around, it’s just going to happen when it happens. 🌸

This. She had personal goals that had an effect. When "Minefields" took off it was mentioned on national arts programs. I don't know about pop music stations as I don't listen to them. I think she is ready to take off internationally and will soon.

Yeah , she is so underated, maybe because of her arabic roots ,which is so dump to judge someone because of his heritage . But her fans are really obsessed with her and anyone listen to her quickly know how talented she is ♥️♥️

there is a cultural bias, she has a much better voice and tone and power than all those singers you mentioned because in the States you never hear her on the radio or even where I live in Canada and much given exposure to The Selena Gomez' or Olivia Rodrigo's not to put them down but you are absolutely right!

This is what I suspect! I have faith that over time, and as she develops, folks will appreciate her talent a lot more!

I don’t think she owns a bad mike. Seems like she’s a bit of a perfectionist and pulls media that isn’t ‘good enough’ in her opinion.
There are some TikTok compilations where she’s just singing into her phone without music.
Some other obvious factors in her current placement in the music business.
    1) She was stuck in Canada during Covid.
    2) Until last year she was enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program at University of Manitoba.
    3) Ryan Brady, her product manager at Atlantic Records died suddenly just after “Minefields” was released.
    4) She hasn’t appeared on a big TV talent show.
Where her background IS coming into play, is with her modest dress and behavior. She is not presenting herself in a hyper sexual way. Her stylist is very respectful of this, especially when compared to the other personalities he works with. Restraint may help her in some regions of the world, but it’s not the kind of approach that is going to get her a lot of western media attention.
I’m fine with waiting to see what happens with her first album. Many of my favorite performers had a long road to mega success. Carole King, Adam Lambert, Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, Micheal Bolton, Chris Stapleton and the band Rush, come to mind. Faouzia is in good company. She’s talented enough to have another role in music if the singing doesn’t lead to solo stardom. And she’s smart enough to succeed at anything else she might put her mind to.

I think you're on the money as far as the hypersexual part is concerned. Too many people selling their bodies in place of talent. Not that I think there's anything inherently wrong with that, but it has its cons.

Yeah I forgot about the sexuality aspect. She also doesn't play the edgy language game either.

I think she has the talent and drive to have a very long and successful career. I also think she has the talent and skill to be successful in many genres of music similar to Neil Young or Joni Mitchell. A lot will depend on what she wants to do because I believe if she wants to do it, she will.

I find similarities in her songwriting to Mitchell with some of her chords and definitely in her preference for leaving things ‘unresolved’.
Her piano reminds me of Carole King.
And as a singer, I think most often of Linda Ronstadt.
Obviously I’m a fan of all.

There are a couple work in progress videos for Elon. But you have to look for it AFTER the credits of her 2020 streamed, quarantine concert from the Burton Cummings theater. Just her and a pianist.
It’s only 6 of her songs, plus Elon. You could do the whole thing.
