Not a meme, but an extremely interesting video. “All Nightmare Long” has come a long way and gone through many changes. It went from being a groovy song slated to be on St. Anger to being the fastest song on Death Magnetic
I highly recommend everyone to listen to the presidio Demos. They are very cool and somewhat haunting, since they are from a very dark time in the history of Metallica. Especially "echo chamber" is really cool in my opinion.
@@wlower5159 that is probably one of worst pieces of music that i heard dont get me wrong Metallica is my favorite band, but temptation is just garbage.
i know this is a year old, but I can't agree more. Metallica's repertoire at this point was congested with slow, groovy songs. we didn't need another one. instead, we ended up with a thrash metal classic.
The biggest downfall to Death Magnetic is that Rick Rubin brickwalled the whole mix of the album. James was not happy with it. Best thing they did after that was become their own producers/owners of it all.
I'm so glad All Nightmare Long was turned from a mid, slow groove song to pure fucking Thrash. I love the DM version so much... DM in general might be one of the best Metallica albums; I rate it over the first 3, but putting it over AJFA is hard
Hands down my favorite Metallica song. It’s got such an amazing riffage. Wish more ppl knew about this track. I really rooted for this song to be played in the 40th shows for the deep cut from Death Magnetic. I love The End of The Line, but I would have killed for this.
I remember that "new song" Metallica was playing between St Anger and Death Magnetic, many parts of which ended up in All Nightmare Long but All Nightmare Long is a lot better than that song was.
Shadow of the cross has a completely different vibe. I don't mind if they made a full song with that version of the riff. Though it reminds me strongly of Balls to the Wall.

Especially "Temptation" bro, that one always gives me chills

@@thedancingguy828 oh no, I didn't say it was good (it is just a demo), but it's spooky
@@wlower5159 Oh okay, but you are making the poor guy listen to this crap hahaha, the rest of the demos are really interesting tho
Holy crap. I didn't know about this and i'm about 3 songs in. Incredible stuff and I do love demos. Thanks for the info, would of never found it
Bro the final version of All Nightmare Long is so freakin good, and very underrated
Death Magnetic is pretty underrated.
@@davidmorneau5260 Death Magnetic >> everything after the Black Album. Imagine if Spit Out The Bone was in DM too
@@Luis7Vazquez7 the only bad thing about DM is the mix but the songs are hella good
@@jpserrano1605 yep, don't know if you know there's a remixed version on YT, look it up, it sounds ridiculously better
@@jpserrano1605 "bad mix" on death magnetic is one of the funniest opinions I heard from the-only-good-and-classic-Metallica fans
Rob's Flamenco bit was the missing link in the song in the earlier versions. Once that came in, the song was complete.
So that’s what happened to “Shadows of the Cross”: it became my favorite track on Death Magnetic
sounds like their old stuff
For me this is the "classic" that Death Magnetic brought to us, it deserves to be played live more often.
It's like watching a draft prospect slowly turn into a superstar athlete. Love it.
I love how Death Magnetic version is so fast, they really added that extra thrash metal spice missing from their music for so long
i know this is a year old, but I can't agree more. Metallica's repertoire at this point was congested with slow, groovy songs. we didn't need another one. instead, we ended up with a thrash metal classic.
The song’s intro still wakes me up. I used it as a morning alarm for years, and I still get a jolt of adrenaline when I hear it.
The biggest downfall to Death Magnetic is that Rick Rubin brickwalled the whole mix of the album. James was not happy with it. Best thing they did after that was become their own producers/owners of it all.
I hope to God that album is remixed, because it does need it
@@bakerboat4572 Look for the guitar hero mix on youtube
@@bakerboat4572 They did remastered it for iTunes. It's also on youtube
It's not the worst mix. Although their best producer is Bob Rock.
@@midnighthijinks7387 buying digitally from the Metallica store will be the 2015 mastered for itunes also
All Nightmare Long has lore now💀💀💀

This makes me feel better about the fact that I've been writing a song for about that long...
Sometimes I think about what their music would have been like if they continued in the direction as No Leaf Clover, - Human and I Disappear.
I Disappear already features the infamous St.Anger snare, though at a lower volume ...
Death is not the end, was the masterpiece of Metallica
One of Metallica's most underrated songs. A true gem. Been my ringtone since 2008 lol. This video is a treat to listen to. Thanks.
Shadow of the Cross has one of the best grooves I've ever heard

1:43 lars doing his best phil rudd impression
The 2007 demo opening riff is kinda better ngl.
It’s so badass
I remember that "new song" Metallica was playing between St Anger and Death Magnetic, many parts of which ended up in All Nightmare Long but All Nightmare Long is a lot better than that song was.
Okay, but I really want a full song of the first one.
Both all night mare long and broken beat and scarred for sure puts death magnetic up as an underrated masterpiece
I kinda miss groovy Metallica
0:52 sounds like a remake of the doom intermission
The main riff on the 2007 demo is a banger!
I'm not even a big Metallica fan, but stumbled across this song because it's one of their four lovecraft inspired ones and it fuckin slaps
they have to launch a full album of remastered presidio recordings, shadows of the cross is so good
I LOVED The New Song
Man they played this song live before it even existed
One of the best riff💥
Heavy as fuck 🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥hope they gonna remaster this underrated peace of a masterpiece.
First clean riff is re-used in Halo On Fire
Thankyou for putting this together! Great to have it all in one video!
Shadow of the cross has a completely different vibe. I don't mind if they made a full song with that version of the riff. Though it reminds me strongly of Balls to the Wall.
Does anyone have a link to "the new song" live recording?
DM was an incredible album.
Best fucking song in Death Magnetic album.
It's a really interesting one
Oh yeah I remember the times of new song before was separated between end of the line and all nightmare long
That song used to be all nightmare long? Whoa...
Hey this is so cool! You got a new sub buddy
I think the only thing they missed was the sound of Rob's riffing, they oversimplified it a bit and Kirk could've even incorporated it into the solo
Длинный путь прекрасного трека💪🏻
flamingo
That's not kirt playing the first one That's james
For all the lovers of „Shadows of the Cross“. Spanish guy made a full version a couple years ago.

*And that's why, st.anger is the best album of all time*
Shadows of the Cross/The New Song > All Nightmare Long
You cannot change my mind.
That song on Presidio sounds nothing like All Nightmare Long.
Clean riffs have little in common
Took it from highly mediocre to kickass.
2001 version sounds way better
Deag magnetic.sounds weird
