@@TravelwithTasha393 Waitress would have won a lot if it had opened on any other season but Hamilton's. They're both great shows and it really is just unfortunate.
Natasha Jean Sort of the same thing happened between Catch Me If You Can and The Book of Mormon. CMIYC would've had more success any other time, but it seems like that's the way things are sometimes
That's appropriate, because the show "Waitress" was a bad idea from the start. No one wants to see a show about a lousy waitress when they visit NY. This show was dead in the water before it ever went up against "Hamilton."
I love Jesse Mueller too but this is my all time favorite version of this song. Sara and Drew sound so perfect together that I'm a little sad he won't be in the new casting with Sara's Broadway run.
Sara is so lovely and charming...with a potty mouth...which makes me love her as an artist even more....not at all a surprise that she is creative gem and writes such captivating music.
This guy's voice is much better suited to this duet than Mraz. Mraz has a great voice, but it's too close in pitch to Sara's so it's not as readily noticeable which voice is the female or male. Just an observation, and not a criticism.
+rbwirth12 I definitely noticed that, too! Their voices blended almost a little too well, but I'm still obsessed with both Jason's and Drew's performances.
The transition from 3:37 onward gets me every single time. That section is why this is my favorite rendition of this song (that I've had the pleasure of listening to).
CJ Smith instead of the "I got a wife, I got a husband. I'm your doctor, my dumb baby's coming" Its the "iIiiiIiiIIIIIIII KNOOOOWWW ITS RIGHT FOR MEEEEEE ITS THE ONLY THING IVE EVER IVE NEVER DOOOONEEE WHAT IF I NEVER SEE MYSEKF EVER BE ANYTHING MORE THAN WHAT IVE ALREADY BECOME" I think XD
iluvfirenze89 you know he's already been on Broadway, right? He was in Jersey Boys. You can even see him in the 2013(?) Tony Awards. And obviously he was in this role too
That’s an astonishing performance. Breathtaking musical skills and so emotionally charged, in such an intimate setting. Would’ve been overwhelming to be there in that room and see it live.
Can't wait to see them perform it together on stage now that she'll replace Jessie *__* Oh wait, I live in Italy and I won't get to see anything unless a kind soul puts a rehearsal on youtube or they make a DVD.
Arianna Tamanini I feel this!!! I love Sara and I would do anything to have the opportunity to watch her take over the role. She is going to be fantastic
+Will Thompson Yeah, in her book she says she didn't feel ready theatrically to do the role herself. And she was really involved in finding the lead role that would suit the character.
She drowns him out😔, even on her album. They could have turned his mic up to help with this version. Sara is an AMAZING composer AND singer, but sometimes I feel like she pushes her voice too hard.
Kelley Dickinson I totally agree! I think she isn't used to singing with people so she doesn't balance her volume with these things. I'm hoping it changes for her run at waitress though!
Kraz3y K3ll3y's Korn3r truthfully, while it is her personal volume, this sound level problem lies with the sound mixer. They have prep before the concert that lets the sound person mix the levels properly... while yes she isn't used to singing with another person, the audio person should be able to hear that they aren't meshing and adjust it accordingly, but obviously he/she hasn't.
While there is an issue in mixing, I think we tend to hear Sarah pop out more because she's the higher of the vocal lines. And the background vocals aren't helping that either. Also it looks like everything's on one stage too. I think you get the jist of it though. I love this song and what Sarah adds and how Drew responds creatively.
I think another issue is mic distance, you can tell Sara is more used to the mic cos she's very close to the mic, whereas drew had more distance when he should be getting closer
So sara bare, I have this idea of staging waitress: you sing and get dream voice cast, then cast each character with two dancers dipicting the light and dark side of story, like: this number has the dark in rapture and the white couple being polite and pragmatic
I love Sara but when she sings I can't help notice she is indeed a pop singer, not a musical theater kind of voice--- not nasal enough. I also feel like she sings over Drew here and I adore his voice and wish I could hear more of him. Anyway, great performance anyway but my favourite Jenna till this moment remains to be Jessie.
drew deserved at least a tony nomination for his role
Waitress came out the year Hamilton was blowing up all over the place. If it was any other year he would received a nomination hands down.

"hold me close while i think this through"
sara: literally touches his arm for one second
audience: *WILD CHEERING*
"this is their..... well, you'll get it." BEST description ever 😂
Hands down my favorite song in the show. So good! Sara belongs composing for Broadway.
That's appropriate, because the show "Waitress" was a bad idea from the start. No one wants to see a show about a lousy waitress when they visit NY. This show was dead in the water before it ever went up against "Hamilton."
iluvfirenze89 funny, when I went last weekend it was a full house. But I thought nobody wanted to see it? 🤔
Scorpionisthebomb23 Yeah I’ve had to wait till August to get front row in the West End 😂
iluvfirenze89 that’d odd, since all my theater friends wanted to see it on the tour. just bc you don’t like it doesn’t mean other don’t lol
I love Jesse Mueller too but this is my all time favorite version of this song. Sara and Drew sound so perfect together that I'm a little sad he won't be in the new casting with Sara's Broadway run.
ABeautifulLife11
I think he's going to be in a few weeks!!
they’re both going to perform on september 2 !
i saw sara and drew together last night. they were both great
but yay they are together in the filmed version!
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the drummer? His facial expression is priceless, looks like he’s enjoying every moment 🙌🏼
New thing to pay attention to for you: the dude on the drums LOOK AT HIM GO YOU’RE DOING GREAT HONEY
I KNOW RIGHT!! I WAS MESMERIZED TOTALLY FORGOT TO WATCH THE SINGERS!!
Sara is so lovely and charming...with a potty mouth...which makes me love her as an artist even more....not at all a surprise that she is creative gem and writes such captivating music.
Ahhh, saw this Saturday night on Broadway. It was fabulous! Drew has amazing blue eyes that sparkle under the stage lights. I'm in love.
Kelly MHor Did you see Drew in jersey boys, because him in those red jackets...OMG! 😍
This guy's voice is much better suited to this duet than Mraz. Mraz has a great voice, but it's too close in pitch to Sara's so it's not as readily noticeable which voice is the female or male. Just an observation, and not a criticism.
+rbwirth12 I think both Drew and Jason sound good. Drew gives it more oomph and Jason gives it harmony :)
+rbwirth12 I definitely noticed that, too! Their voices blended almost a little too well, but I'm still obsessed with both Jason's and Drew's performances.
Didn't Mraz co-write though?
No, she was the only credited writer for the entire disc.
+Jia Hui L They're just really good friends, so he helped her record the duets for the album version
My favorite musical number from the show. Glad I got to see it twice in Cambridge.
+Colleen Evans I saw it twice at the A.R.T. as well! I'm so excited to see it on Broadway some day!
roses are red
i love sweet tea
the song begins at
a minute forty
thank you sister love you bye
Bless you
thank you
The transition from 3:37 onward gets me every single time. That section is why this is my favorite rendition of this song (that I've had the pleasure of listening to).
Andrew Garfield can sing really well, wow.
AwkwardFritatta u don't get it, do ya?
AwkwardFritatta I know 😂😂
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!
xxobrittanyg 😂😂😂😂
I JUST SPIT OUT MY WATER
Whoa, this earlier version of this song is pretty similar to the version that's in the actual show but definitely not the same!
CJ Smith instead of the "I got a wife, I got a husband. I'm your doctor, my dumb baby's coming" Its the "iIiiiIiiIIIIIIII KNOOOOWWW ITS RIGHT FOR MEEEEEE
ITS THE ONLY THING
IVE EVER
IVE NEVER DOOOONEEE
WHAT IF I NEVER SEE
MYSEKF EVER BE
ANYTHING MORE THAN WHAT IVE
ALREADY BECOME"
I think
XD
if you squint and don't look too closely, the drummer kinda looks like andy samberg
He does!
comment of the decade
I was thinking the same thing!!!!!
Omg yes
Or a Mark Zuckerberg with different hair lol
OMG THE JUMPING AT THE BEGINNING. BLESS
Really great song. Drew is like a hot geeky guy. I'm falling in love with him lol. I need to see this musical!
Glad to hear Drew is coming back to Waitress, even if Sara will be gone by then
Get use to Drew because he is Broadway bound.
So you're saying that we have to get used to seeing a skinny, bird-like geek on Broadway? No thank you.
iluvfirenze89 wow...
iluvfirenze89 you know he's already been on Broadway, right? He was in Jersey Boys. You can even see him in the 2013(?) Tony Awards. And obviously he was in this role too
iluvfirenze89 if that's a skinny bird i guess im into skinny birds
@@iluvfirenze89
body shaming? Gift
THIS LADY IS SUCH A GODDESS
I LOVE SARA SOOOOOOOOO MUCH
That’s an astonishing performance. Breathtaking musical skills and so emotionally charged, in such an intimate setting. Would’ve been overwhelming to be there in that room and see it live.
I liteRALLY thought Sara said "I'm your baby coming" AND I WAS SO CONCERNED LOL
I don't think I'll ever get over this
She's perfect!! This is my favorite song out of the whole musical.
Was so, so lucky to catch Sara in the role in the West End at the beginning of the year. She's exquisite. 😍
Sara's voice is perfection
Ok but Sara is literally the most relatable person
This song is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE they both slay my life
Saw them together live earlier this month and it was magical
Chaotica Neutral me too. and yes it was.
4:17 - on repeat!
This is literally the only song in the whole show I listen/have listened to, I love it though!
TBH every person who played doctor pom pom and Jenna are amazing 🖤🥧
I feel like this song is going to be a hardcore dance number. It makes me want to get up and run lol.
Well, they do run!!! Lol
this video had a real chokehold over me during the first lockdown
Oh god I'm in love with Sara Bareilles
Can't wait to see them perform it together on stage now that she'll replace Jessie *__* Oh wait, I live in Italy and I won't get to see anything unless a kind soul puts a rehearsal on youtube or they make a DVD.
Arianna Tamanini I feel this!!! I love Sara and I would do anything to have the opportunity to watch her take over the role. She is going to be fantastic
I love Drew Gehling!!!!!!❤️
Their voices sound incredible together
I saw him perform with Jordan Sparks on Broadway in November for waitress!!! IT WAS AMAZING!!😍💗
The proshot is out guys! And they're in it together.
I love the person who says "oh no" at 2:07 XD
I really appreciate that her voice doesn't swallow his, even without any mixing or effects.
"it's a tale as old as time -"
"-older!"
so excited to see her in cleveland this year !!
where'd sara get that suit though i want it
That drummer nailed it
Here coz they finally perform this on the show. My Jenna and Dr. Pompom are back!
I appreciate that either they messed up or that they made it different
This was an early version, the official version has changes in it
Drew is so underrated!!!
I was totally transfixed by the drummer for the whole song!! 🤘
Henceforth, we are not interested in these stage duéts WITHOUT THE KISSES. Thank you
i just think it's hilarious got much she swears i love her so much
Was so awesome to have seen these two in London
I love how they can just look at each others different the audience will go wild
SARA IS THE CUTEST PERSON EVER
She really reminds me of Gina Linetti from Brookly 99...
He is SO freaking CUTE
It’s funny seeing how much this song has changed. One of my favs though 👌
Has Sara said anything about playing the lead role herself?
+Will Thompson Yeah, in her book she says she didn't feel ready theatrically to do the role herself. And she was really involved in finding the lead role that would suit the character.
+F Dombrowski I think she'd be awesome for the part and I hope at some point she'll portray the lead
+Sarah Wright there's a possibility of her doing limited engagement some point?? Sting was in last ship, Billie joe Armstrong in American idiot.
She's taking over in a few months!
Gabriel Tzukishiro I'm glade someone else thinks this because i like Jessie a lot more
the vídeo start un 1:41
Nah the vid starts at 0:00 the song starts at 1:41
I like this SONG.
Singing starts at 1:39
I still like Jessie Mueller better... still my favorite song of the musical though. That and When He Sees Me. Top 2 by far.
my new fave video
In love.
Good God, his hands are HUGEEE
Well you know what they say about guys with big hands.....
...... Extra large gloves 👍🏽
SO GREAT
FABULOUS!!!!!
They are both beans, they are my beans. I only share on days of the week that don't end in y.
Music at 1:39
perfect duo weeee! :D
The beginning of this reminded me so much of a Bad Lip Reading
The alternative line: "hold me close, while I see this Drew. It's a bad idea me and you"
The blue pantsuit reminds me of Hillary Clinton. 😄
Whoops almost forgot to watch this today
I love how awkward she was at the beginning 😂
Seeing this show tomorrow
molly gru
on October 15th with Drew and Betsy Wolfe.
Excited
She drowns him out😔, even on her album. They could have turned his mic up to help with this version. Sara is an AMAZING composer AND singer, but sometimes I feel like she pushes her voice too hard.
Kelley Dickinson I totally agree! I think she isn't used to singing with people so she doesn't balance her volume with these things. I'm hoping it changes for her run at waitress though!

I have to agree, this always seems to be a problem in theatre. I really wish that Drew was louder, love him! ❤️
That’s Rich on drums!!!!!
sara: "she's... married to a dick"
drew:
*nods in casual agreement*
*I’m new but gOd Drew is cUTE*
My goal in life is to sing this with my husband
I WAS HERE FOR THE EXIT GODDAMIT
Starts at 1.40
1:37
Or I coach YOU sara . I am simply fine as shadow too;) hear my prayer for you ?!
You're my doctor Drew! haha
Seriously how good is Sarah if this is better than Jessie.......
Aaron Smith she wrote... The.
ANYONE HERE BECAUSE THEY'RE COMING BACK TO BROADWAY?!?!
OK, I’ll take him…🌹
So sara bare, I have this idea of staging waitress: you sing and get dream voice cast, then cast each character with two dancers dipicting the light and dark side of story, like: this number has the dark in rapture and the white couple being polite and pragmatic
Man I really wanted Drew to Moonwalk for the exit...
Unpopular opinion (i think): I prefer Jessie Mueller.
Please don't kill me. It's just my opinion.
Not unpopular
I really don't like the idea of Sara playing Jenna instead of Jessie.
Katharine McPhee was the best,!!!
Kate Kooper totally agree!!$
ah dam... it's a great performance but would've been the best with jason mraz xD
Warren Chan luckily for you... The new announcement xD
hm... I like Ben Platt better...
