    Merry Christmas everyone, my next video will be on Sunday at 12am where we'll be trying out one Transpennine Express' class 185s up to Redcar Central from York.

    Another interesting video Daniel. I did a day return from London. Can I respectfully suggest you try the at seat refreshment service and any pitfalls, etc about using it? Thanks.

      Thanks for the nice comment John. Unfortunately couldn't do the at seat service as A. My bank account wouldn't allow it 😂, and B. I brought my own food. I usually try to shy away from buying onboard if I can and bring my own food preferably from a shop outside the station or even pack my own food, as I'm on a shoestring budget with me being a student. Glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you have a great Christmas.

    Thank you for making this video! I will be coming from Utah in a couple of weeks and I’m trying to decide whether to drive from London to York or take a train. It looks like there will be quite a bit of traffic to navigate if I drive and I will be driving on the opposite side of the road for the first time. Tho I wanted to drive and stop in Cambridge and Sherwood Forest, I may just take a train straight to York instead. Also, the price that you posted is way less than I am seeing on websites searching here in Utah. I wonder if I should just wait and buy my ticket once I get there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Grand Central could operate a new service to Scarborough in 2022 which would be handy. Or LNER might introduce a new service to Scarborough from next year. I have been on Grand Central to York and the Class 180 Adelantes are the best trains and the seats are very comfortable.

    • @danielstripreports
      @danielstripreports  2 года назад +1

      I find them rather outdated in all honesty, prefer the azumas. Be to good to have a service to Scarborough, would probably be by LNER as it's state run so doesn't need to run on a profit and I'm guessing returns would be low on that sort of route.

    Hello. I’m traveling soon this year to London, and within my itinerary am heading to York for one day trip. I been just browsing what train line operates, and found tow: Grand Central and LNER, came across LNER is more expensive, one round trip, one passenger around 80-90 £, the cheapest. Am I right on it? Cuz have seen videos ppl they say got tickets for 25£. On the other hand, Grand Central ain’t recommended by users things went wrong and have experienced cancellation of their tickets. People, can y’all help me with that? What do you know about it currently ? I’ll appreciate any help as a replying

    I see one today stop in Grantham, because of red signal, . Looks a bit “battered “, don’t know how comfortable is inside, but outside to me looks like second hand, old “ corsa “ with 200.00, miles on a clock..🤣😂

    I'm always in two minds about Grand Central. The standard class seats are some of the most comfortable on the network, and the legroom is great, even if a little dated.
    The lack of some basic features though like window blinds, and the inability to choose a forward facing seat when booking tickets is a bit of an issue for me and looking at their online seat plans I find that they're not very accurate.
    Having tried their first class as well I also find that to be very uncomfortable and in need of a major refurbishment.
    I also find it infuriating that the Sunderland services don't serve Doncaster which would be very helpful for me.

      I don't really get why they're so popular, always busy, expensive and old. Lner is far better in my mind.

    They are both fine. LNER is fine apart from when there are only 5 coaches from King's Cross when 10 are much needed.

    For me, the biggest reason to travel between Kings Cross and York with LNER would be the fact that it’s an electric service.
    I think the ORR should stop allowing open-access operators to travel the parts of their routes under OLE using non-electric traction.
