I did a reverb test myself. I compared Sonsig, Revelation (Cubase), Relab 480 (Lexicon), Valhalla Vintage Verb, 7th Heaven Liquid Sonic, Fabfilter Pro-R and Acon Digital Verbrate 2. I tested all units with one classic reverb preset on vocals. I tried to make them sound similar. I listened every day for 14 days to it. At the end my winner was Acon Digital Verbrate 2. It was very realisic sounding and had the widest sound stage. I was also was very much surprised by the Valhalla Vintage Verb. This was the best lexicon copy. So thick and wide. Great.
I really really like the Sonig reverb. I have used and tried so many reverbs, from Eventide till soundtoys but thus reverb made my day. I like the way it stands out in a dense mix :D
Thanks for that. My opinion: -LiquidSonics SH (I use it the most) -Lexicon. I'm using it less and less because of the SH -Sonsig: Not bad at all. But i haven´t this plugin so .... -Waves: Really ?(robot sound IMHO) Soundtoys.(toys, yes). But i get surprised... But I'm nobody, so... ;-) . Again thanks for that
To be honest to my ears the Little Plate is the best. Also I guess have those will stack up to the newly released LiquidSonics (Reverb Foundry) - Tai Chi, which is deep programmable like Flux Ircam Verb 2, and the now natively running Universal Audio Pure Plate. Would be interesting for you to revisit and see have they all compare.
You left out R4 from Exponential (IZotope)......takes a bit of getting used to the controls, but when you get it, it’s like Lexicon made natural sounding....
Well spotted. There is actually setting on both the Lexicon and the Rev A which cause the reverb to swell or bloom like that at the onset of the tail. The Lexicon must have had that parameter turned up.
@@saardean4481 I have the trial now but made the mistake of letting Seventh Heaven run out before I got it. Which do you prefer? Perhaps they are even a great mix in terms of top convolution and very flexible algorithmic.
@@poulwinther hmm. i have both but i must say i am not a reverb "fetishist" . If i was to keep only one it would be the Fab. Not because i find it irreplaceble but because i paid a lot more for it than for the Seventh Heaven. :-) Both can sound very good in my ears but as i said, i am not a heavy user of reverb. I would trust @Heron Island Studio opinion if i was on the market for any of the two. If money is an issue, Seventh Heaven goes without saying of course
@@saardean4481 Thanks a lot, very helpful. I was thinking about getting Seventh Heaven combined with Valhalla Shimmer for the unrealistic stuff but Pro R can do quite a bit of that too in which case the money wouldn't be that different. I'll probably end up with all three anyway :-) Cheers!

Wow....and you picked the most complex instrument-the voice. To me the thats the real test of a reverb...the voice

I agree, it's one of the very the best out there and it's become a go to reverb for me.
The Lexicon is my favorite. To me , I’ve never found anything better.
I agree...but sonsig is very impressive
Also, for plates, try the Rare Signals Transatlantic Plate Reverb... Absolutely stunning ITB plate verb
Deep and detailed as usual. Thank you Mark
Cheers!

@Pierre Baudinat i will try the demo. thank you
So useful, thank you. I was especially interested to hear how you use plates - I will experiment with that for sure
Cheers, glad it was useful!
Very nice and objective review! Thank you Mark
Cheers!

Great channel! Subbed and looking forward to more videos
Cheers!
Have you heard the native version of TC Electronic's VSS4 and VSS3 yet? If so, what's your opinion for creating realistic spaces?
Very nice video. May I ask how did you tilt your dual monitors like this. Do you use some kind of accessorie?
Thanks. I'm just using speaker stands.
@@heronislandstudio8054 I'm not talking about your speaker monitors. But for your screen monitors on your desk
@@SpirosPoullos Ah! Ok those were seriously jury rigged with bits of wood 🙂 to get that angle.
@@heronislandstudio8054 so you improvised! Thanks!!
@@SpirosPoullos 😁
Would you put Red Verb at par with these instruments as well or no? Nice review btw
Cheers. I don't know the Red Verb, I'll have to check it out.
@@heronislandstudio8054 Thanks for sharing. Audiothing is also selling their reverb plugin on sale this week. Looks interesting
Bricasti (seventh heaven) fantastic and rich. so that would be first choice and Sonsig 2nd. Wavesm that sounds cheap and tinny.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try the R4.
7H Pro the best
PPRRROOOOOO 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
denise perfect room ??
The Lexicon had some pumping to the onset of the tail.

Sorry but, the Liquid Sonic's takes this easy.
Didn't find the Rev A appealing.
Waves......... 😐
The Lexicon still has a place in the market. ✌🏾
Flux IRCAM Verb?
Yes Flux Verb 2 is very good to my ears. It's also allow deeper programming than most.
I miss the Fab Pro R here. You dont approve? Woudl love your opinion
I don't have the FF Pro R and I haven't tried it so I can't give an opinion. But I have definately heard good things about it.
@@heronislandstudio8054 Ah i see. Well you can download a 30day trial version. Should be enough for a first glimpse?
