Just bought a 3 burner performance grill with tru infrared in the UK and agree it cooks quickly. Just adjusting my way of cooking to match the grill plates heat. I was advised to add oil to my food surface not the grill itself though! That may be why your grill smokes so much if you are adding oil to the grill plates. Just a thought 😊

Yes i quit adding oil now i just throw the food on and it cooks great.. The best thing is there is no hot and cold spots, everything cooks evenly. It really does make the meat juicer, you just have to cook it quicker. I have to say i will most likely buy another one of these grills.

Olive oil is NOT a high temp oil, will smoke!

How are you pleased with 3 years out of a grill? I had a grill for 15 summers (admittedly I rebuilt it several times replacing the burners and grates, venturi tubes and warming rack.) my last tru-infrared lasted 7 years and I replaced all the burners with new stainless ones even though they were still functioning well, new heat tents, new stainless grates and a new warming rack and sold it to upgrade to a commercial 3 burner tru-infrared from Lowes. If you are only getting 3 years out of a grill something is wrong

I have a 2 burner Tru Infrared, replaced the stainless emitters after 3-4 years, only about $14 each from CharBroil. I used Canola cook spray

So far i like how evenly they cook, and how hot, it is also true meat is jucier.. I really don't see any way around replacing the grids i have had mine 6 months and can already tell that it won't be long but this seems to be the case with every grill no matter the brand..
