- Taekkyon is the original indigineous martial art of Korea, and is focused on kicking, while having a strong influence from Korean dance. When I lived in South Korea in 2013, I spent a year learning this fascintating and unique art.

Hey mate. I had no idea you also trained in Taekyun / Taekkyon. It would of been a great opportunity to train at the Kyulyun Taekyun Association, and with Master Do Ki Hyun. Awesome!
Yea was good fun, learnt a lot of interesting stuff and enjoyed it

Great footage! Your opponent looked relaxed and it's a great study on how to train! I wonder what you'd describe as the key differences between taekkyon and Chinese martial arts in movement and training methodology?

Too bad there aren’t any taekkyeon training places where I am
Мы школе часто так играли, ноги друг другу отбивали
I watched your video on Taekkyeon. I'd just like to add something I found out. There are four organizations of Taekkyeon in Korea. Three of them have mixed Taekwondo into the Taekkyeon they practice. Not bad from a martial arts perspective, but is detrimental from the perspective of preserving tradition and culture as this is not an organic change, but abrupt changes brought about by the founders of these organizations.
The fourth organisation is called Widae Taekkyeon. It's the form of Taekkyeon as practiced by the last surviving master of Taekkyeon in the second half of the 20th century called Song Duk-ki. It's also the smallest of the Taekkyeon organizations in Korea.
The comment is not correct at all.
I commented on one of your blogs. Please contact me. I am looking to train where you did.
Ashley Thomas hi. Message me over on my facebook page and I'll put you in contact

Some of the things here I’ve seen in Kung Fu as well, probably just a coincidence, only so many ways you can twist your legs and violently extend them.
Edit: oh there’s grappling as well, very cool. Also looks similar to shuai Jiao in some ways, but it’s also coincidence lmao.
The grappling is Ssireum, Korean wrestling
A lot of the Korean martial arts came down from China. Remember also, that Koreans came from the Han Dynasty.
