A lot of people posting on here how bad the UK has become but what's the solution? Personally, I think the whole of the UK should take a stand irregardless of the financial implications imposed on us. Without that, future generations will be in total immiseration. The Americans are standing up and now it's time for the Brits. The UK businessmen / women need to use their influence and help to rebuild a better Britain. This is total dystopia.

@robd733 You clearly don't understand my comment. Amazon is able to sell cheaper products since it only pays voluntary tax which is about £5m per £1 billion turnover. They are allowed to expand their business and include such costs into the tax right off, which is paid for by the UK taxpayer. Sainsbury's pay more in taxes for their supermarkets than Amazon does despite it earning less money. Once Amazon is the monopoly, they will push up the prices. They are already squeezing retailers on the platform and forcing them to sell at low prices to kill off the high street.

Part of it is because the older generation were enjoying their free love and consumerist, self centered mindset with the youth revolution. Rockers, mods, hippies said goodbye to the old traditions and blew their minds on all sorts then came the punks, metal, ravers etc etc. With that came consumerism, materialism, self-centered mindset of "me me me" and they said goodbye to the old and the young. Meanwhile foreign families always look out for their own

Tesco owns a lot of land. If you watch the 2 part program on TV a few years ago. Of how Tesco started. A guy from 1st world war after the war his £30 he had bought lots of tea and sold it on a market and got more with the profit. Then put his money into shop's. In the 2nd world war could get fruit and veg for his shop's. Went around the country and bought all the farms with land that was for sale. And grown his own fruit and veg for his shops. After the 2nd world war everything went back to getting food stock. The Tesco owner had prime farms and land stock. Which over the years would now probably have houses and new towns built on them. He was a clever man with good work ethnics but now Tesco seems to open mega stores in town centres, which are killing local long-standing businesses.
He mentioned the Pakistanis but forgets amazon and Tesco billion dollar takeover Of the towns destroying the local shops … but I guess the racial slurs keep you lot in line .. don’t they ?

My hometown of birth & breaks my heart to see how destitute it has become. The whole of Market St with buildings full of history just falling to pieces without any care, the drugs issue which has ripped the heart out of the whole city. I know you visited Hanley Billy, and "The neck end" which is the old Potteries nickname for Longton area is just as bad. Honestly your videos are raw & hard, but essential viewing for those who wouldn't generally have an idea. Oh and I would certainly agree with what another comment says if you can speak to Lou Macari it would make for a very interesting & honest opinion of life in Stoke On Trent, and their is a man who should be honoured for his work
Billy, next time you're in Stoke take a look around Tunstall and Burslem. They're even more run down than Longton and Hanley. Burslem in particular is full of once-beautiful old Dickensian and pre-Victorian buildings that are now derelict, burned out and falling to pieces. And in Tunstall recently there was a mass street fight between warring factions of homeless drug addicts. It was also officially named as the most boarded-up town in the UK a couple of years ago, so it's pretty rough around there. Might be worth taking a look sometime...
Loved going tunstall yrs ago with my kids. I'm 54 now and seen it rot for a long time. It's such a shame because it was so busy on the high street with the likes of Ethel Austin, peacocks, dorothyperkins, burtons, etc. Look at it now, breaks my heart to see what's become of it. Total shit tip, the council should be ashamed of themselves!
@Franko-Gaming yes I know. Tunstall was a regular place for me that's why I only mentioned it. Stoke is not what it was years ago, it's a place to be ashamed of now 😭

I’m 7 miles from Longton. It’s so, so bad. Nip just round the corner to Normacot, where the brand spanking new Mosque is. It’s literally like being in a foreign country. Rinse and repeat for countless other UK towns. I hate to say it but the country is finished.
Because some people don't have a place to stay, they want to be seen and shown some kindness, you do this and I've subbed and liked it. Carre on the good work fella.
From all the cities & towns I've seen Billy and others visit I'm not sure if England can be fixed at this point. Far too much decay. Would need radical reform to turn things around.
Start giving your unwanted things to our own people in need . Help people out free cycle .stop taking good stuff to skips .if you put it on line people will come for it .time to help our own people . Charity shops are greedy not enought goes to the charity .
Even if you give people things they don't appreciate it and will try and sell it soon as you turn your back, it's all well and good but the ones who put their hands out to take are the least likely to give to you in your hour of need, I can't get on that wavelength but some humans are just ungrateful takers and they will see you skint and destitute even after you've done things for them, had loads of people like that around me, always promising to pay back but never do, now most of them are doing better than me I never heard from them since. Pretty much 99% of my generosity has been forgotten about, some people just don't care and don't ever intend to do anything for you, they just see you as a easy target.
There are many free sites out there where people of stoke give away their unwanted items and people can ask for help with anything they need, food, clothes, white goods, furniture etc with no judgement . They are great sites but sometimes you get the odd one that abuses people's good nature.
Great vid Billy , sad to see what's happened to our city in the last 30 years , people used to travel from miles away for a night out in Hanley ( The Place nightclub) and Shelleys in Longton, now the locals get out of the city for a decent night out . We have imported the 3rd World and have become it unfortunately 😢
As a pole who moved to stoke at the age of 5 now 25, seen stoke in this way is horrific, I went to primary school in abbey hulton, which at the time was your typical council estate but it was thriving with local shops, people coming together, local clubs where people of different ages use to get together. moving on to high school which was in Longton (st Thomas moore) longton use to be so full of life. Cafe, local businesses, market full of people everyday, the market with cex etc the little square 13:00 use to always have live music, buskers, every shop been open, nothing boarded up etc kids could runaround care free and parents didn’t have to worry. Those were the days, unfortunately the local council and politics them selves haves ruined places like stoke and other places like it and the hard working people of stoke have to deal with this on a daily basis and it’s only getting worse.

Great video Billy, as a Stoke resident. U got it spot on 👏👏
That poor old couple living in that dump. They will remember better days, which makes it worse. Stoke once had a thriving pottery industry and you can see the factory chimneys in the distance 7.12. The only thing keeping the place from sliding into the mud are the old Victorian buildings, and they look in a sorry state.

Brilliant what he does
@alanrogers9589 Lou played with my club.. Celtic back in the day. His family had a chippy in Largs… west coast 🏴… lovely place but like most of Billy’s vlogs…. The whole country.. ie.. Britain, nothing great about it to us anymore. It’s all about the haves and more importantly the the don’t haves. Happy new year to each and every single person who have the same values we were raised with. Power to the people who’ve been shafted by the 2 tier brigade.

Fair play to that hotel, they are taking in the homeless and not just taking the new overlords like the other hotels.
@@dbcooper7326 it’s the only way they can generate money. Nobody’s staying there for leisure - check the hundreds of reviews and videos on here. The homeless people are simply the key to obtaining local authority money. Don’t be fooled that there’s compassion in it.

Its the same everywhere, theres two sides of the same street, those with and those without. Thanks Billy 🇬🇧👍🙏
I'm not from Stoke but used to visit it many times through work. The people there are some of the friendliest in the country. They deserve better.
Massive respect to Carla and the staff at that hotel. A fine example of the good side of Stoke. These are the people who deserve honours.
Politicians gave Amazon tax-free status, and it's killing retailers.
@@robd733Not exactly true, business rates for a small retailer in or around any town centre are big. Plus the costs and difficulty in parking in town. Why do you think the big supermarkets have out of town sites?
@robd733 It can go a long way to fix it. Plenty of people I know are always on the lookout for premises. Unfortunately the overhead costs, the business rates especially put them off. They could open, but they would be always running at a loss, so what's the point?

Yeah the barbers and vape shops are all fronts to launder money from drugs and trafficking
You domt see amy foreign homeless .....can't believe how our own people get treated
Meanwhile foreign families always look out for their own
Cos they’re lazy, on benefits, spend everything on booze, have no family structure, throw their parents out as soon as they’re no use etc etc.
nice to here the young girl in hotel how she understands there problems and the old fella was right about supermarkets there was 2 built just outside my town and over the years the town slowly got full of charity shops and wine bars never mind all in the name of progress ha
Carla, an absolute legend. Thank you for your service.

I live around the corner was about to comment that. Stoke has been left to rot.
@paulamountford9837 All the surrounding areas have been left to rot, mate.
@Franko-Gaming yes I know. Tunstall was a regular place for me that's why I only mentioned it. Stoke is not what it was years ago, it's a place to be ashamed of now 😭

From all the cities & towns I've seen Billy and others visit I'm not sure if England can be fixed at this point. Far too much decay. Would need radical reform to turn things around.
We need to do something about all of this mess in the UK
Pawn shops, betting shops, vap shops, tattoo parlors. No wonder high streets desearted.
Great vid Billy , sad to see what's happened to our city in the last 30 years , people used to travel from miles away for a night out in Hanley ( The Place nightclub) and Shelleys in Longton, now the locals get out of the city for a decent night out . We have imported the 3rd World and have become it unfortunately 😢
the problem with stoke is productivity. It lost the industry and now produces very little
As a pole who moved to stoke at the age of 5 now 25, seen stoke in this way is horrific, I went to primary school in abbey hulton, which at the time was your typical council estate but it was thriving with local shops, people coming together, local clubs where people of different ages use to get together. moving on to high school which was in Longton (st Thomas moore) longton use to be so full of life.

I'm Longton born and it truly is a disgrace what's happened to this place! Longton is a town of rich industrial history - the sort of history that put this city on the map. But despite it being an area that - in other countries - would be a well preserved and nationally respected UNESCO site which governments protect...this is what we have left of it.

Ots mad watching you walk around Longton buddy. There used to be a lot of money around Longton when the pot banks were there. You can see from the architecture of the building. Mum and dad used to go there shopping in the late 80s. The large Tesco did kill off the town centre. The market used to be a real hussling place as well.
