Long ago in another life and career, I was a disco DJ in New Orleans, playing at The Parade on Bourbon Street, The Civic Disco and later as the first in-house DJ at Cafe Lafitte’s on Bourbon Street. There was a small disco record shop called Disco Connection near the French Quarter. The owner, Chuck, used to get a lot of imports and was generally several months ahead of the Billboard charts and even the coastal disco scenes in getting unusual, hard-to-find music to us local DJs. I wish I had proof of it, but I bought this record from him and was the first DJ in New Orleans to play it. I’m also told I was the first DJ in the country to start playing this on a regular basis. Other DJs said they couldn’t get their hands on a copy of it, including some who dropped in to hear me play at The Parade. I do remember getting it charted on Billboard. Can’t make this stuff up!
Was the Disco Connection located at the Esplanade at Bourbon? as I remember when I was a teenager, I always spent half my check (working as a dishwasher at a restaurant in those days) on the shop! I remember they had LPs imported from France, West Germany or Italy! I remember grabbing a copy of this masterpiece as well!
Hola como estas? Podriamos tener comunicacion soy de Chile y colecciono vinilos de la eterna Onda Disco...mi nombre es Ruben Zamorano. En nombre que sale en mis comentarios es de mi madre que ya no esta fisicamente a mi lado.
This track was so HARD to find and to listen here in Brazil, I remember every time that played in ONLY fm radio I was always driving, never got to record this one.... The name of this song ? Nobody NEVER said in the fm radio.... it was so OBSCURE ....as I said in my post before, only after 20 years ( in 1998 ) I discovered it....... I knew some friends in fm program every saturday, and one of them told -me: come on onthe radio to do a show with us..... ok I went, during the show he played this track.....and I almost had a heart atack. Never more forgot this day.
OMG, this song in 1978 made me use it when I started as a DJ. and I was called Jungle DJ. I try to get it at ITUNES but no results. Memories , love and joy.
This a classic, something special of the music of yesteryear, really great to have come across this on yourtube and others like me who appreciate this music. I have this and some other one hit one hit wonders on vinyl, maybe I should upload them ?? :-).
I'd not come across this one before, until I saw it on the Papayons CD website, and liked the sleeve, so I decided to see if it was on YT. I love the disco music of that era, even though I'm mostly a pop and rock fan. What strikes me immediately upon first hearing is how similar this music is to the great Voyage (Souvenirs, From East To West, Let's Fly Away, etc.) The female vocalist could easily be Sylvia Mason. The evocative sound of that sparkling, euphoric time of Eurodisco is all over this disc. Thanks for posting this, Euroduo!!
I was wondering who this group is. Because everytime I pull up a Cerrone song, this song shows up. So I looked on Discogs and the members are Cerrone, Don Ray and others. I thought so. I have this Album when it 1st came out. Luv It!!
No doubt Cerrone is behind this. It sounds just like him. I discovered Kikrokos from a sample track on a Polydor compilation album and first thing going thru my mind when I heard it was ... this is Cerrone! It's also no doubt powered by Alec Costandinos, who was involved in the early Cerrone albums.
I love the fact that someone who I also love a lot is a back up singer on this album. You'd never guess tho you can make out her voice if you just listen close enough. Ready ? It's Lene Lovich ( if you have the album just look at the singers listed)
What an absolutely wonderful song!!! I miss this music so much and I wish with all my heart it would come back. Thank you so much for putting this fantastic song on RUclips!!!
Hearing this today for the first time (AUG 2021). Very EuroDisco in the Cerrone/Voyage vein. I wonder if this was a radio hit in any country, and where? Or maybe it was strictly a club track
Agree! Definitely sounds like Cerrone/Costandinos. I'm sure it was a one off project by them. Never heard it anywhere. Discovered the track on a Polydor sampler LP. This is one of my all time favorite euro disco sounds ever!
Apparently it was strictly a club track that reached #23 on the Disco Action charts on the week ending on October 21, 1978. That song was way too long for radio airplay and probably there wasn't a shorter cut release.

O jungle dee jay ( dee jay )
Really knew his way ( they say )
Dirty Kate had a spider on her mind
O the needle and the damage done

Whenever the trees are crying aloud
And the junkies tossed at sea
On the jungle highway, low and loud

Jungle´s not for you if you want me too
I´ll take your home
Jungle´s not for you, it´ll make you blue,
Better be gonne
It´s a rotten time for a streak of luck, man
But I like the jungle I´m in
So be on your way back to all your fans, man
Just before we get another spin
It´s a rotten time for a streak of luck,
But we like the jungle we´re in
Let´s be on your way back to all your fans, man
Just before we get
All right, IF that´s the way you want it baby
