I picked up the Wiim Amp at launch and paired it with LS50 Metas that I got for $999 when on sale. It's been amazing for our bedroom. The wife LOVES it because it's super easy to stream to while she is working. And it works out great for movies and TVs thanks to ARC. That Parametric EQ is a huge plus as well. I was able to fix a couple of minor issues with the midrange in my room just using the app.
@@MasterofPlay7 as someone who literally uses a WiiM Amp to drive LS50 Mets daily it works perfect for our bedroom. It hits 85db (about as loud as I ever listen) without issue. I have them high passed at 70db and a 10" Martin Logan Dynamo sub. It has turned out to be a really great system.
I hooked my Wiim amp to my Kef R3 metas crossed over with a subwoofer it powers them without issue. I measured 90db in my room. But the amp is normally paired with Polk XT60 with a subwoofer.
This Wiim amp seems to do everything that the Bluesound Powernode does for about $650 less. You also get RCA inputs with the Wiim which the Powernode doesn't have and you get EQ too. Thanks for the review. I will look into those Galion speakers also.
I’ve got one of their amps in addition to a pro and pro plus. I was happy those got Roon certification quickly, and I’m anxious for the amp to finally get Roon ready.
Got a full review of the Galion speakers? The designer , Dr Viet has a great following on several DIY forums, and the TL is one of his projects with Thomas - another notable being a modern homage to the BBC LS3/5A.
It has low rail internal voltage but the chipset handles low Impedance/ohm speakers very well. Test it with 3-4Ohms speakers to get the most out of it.
I have been considering a small system for the kitchen sounds perfect especially given wiim's multiroom functions. Question ; I have the wiim pro that also has rca in, and on my record dec I can set my 'out' to rca line out ( not phono out) I asume I can plug into the wiim pro? but someone said not ,so I have not dared try.
That won’t happen with this. Wiim seems to lower prices or make something better for a teeny amount more. This is a fantastic starter amp or even mid tier amp. My guess is that Wiim will be releasing a “supercharged” version of this soon. Maybe a display, better DAC, 100 watts vs 60. If they do, my guess is $599.
@@HiFiHuff I think it's more than rumour that the "ultra" is coming very soon, the only problem is any details about what it will offer over the standard Wiim amp ARE still rumours but yes; screen, DAC & power are those rumours.
I’d take this over a powernode. I did try the powernode a while back. For me at least, the wiim bests it in sound. Bests the PS audio sprout as well (which I still own).
Yes, it plays piano if you hold it just right on every third key with lots of foot petal & drums if you have pig skins instead of papier-mâché.. Horns are another matter.. Get a WiiM pro for that👍
I don’t know why people keep saying $299 is such an amazing deal. You can get a nice receiver for that with a lot of great features and better sound quality. The eq features are awesome though.
Directly playing Tidal on it, you wont get any better in streaming+dac+amp / price category. A nice receiver, which? Probably it will use a compressed codec, with a lackluster quality not even close to a native Tidal with HiRes FLAC, and Dolby Atmos.
That is halve the price of the Harman Amp but then I rather save up to the WIIM Pro with a Rega IO that works great with vinyl or even a tube or Aegir power amp 🤔
No and that is the biggest let down with this unit considering you could start with this at $300 and upgrade poweramp in the future if you want or need more power/quality

Mastero?? What do you think with the comment with not enough power lol.

This doesn't even mention a couple of the best features of this amp - a parametric EQ and the benefits of HDMI Arc for TV integration
And a subwoofer output with a fully adjustable crossover high pass filter so you don't send the bass to your small bookshelf speakers
I use this amp with q acoustics bookshelf speakers and a rega turntable. Sounds great to my ears.
The Marantz NR1200 can now be had for $399. I'd be interested to see how the two go head to head.

Just happened last week!!!
You forgot to mention parametric eq also. That's huge! Also bass management is a big plus in my book.
It’s great to connect to a tv and two speakers
I love my Wiim Amp. I am super excited to see what they roll out next!
Ultra is coming in a few months time.
Just ordered this after frequent connection issues with the Arylic A50+. Can't wait to try it out.
And?
Would love a Wiim II with 160 wpc for $599. 😊

Sounds wonderful with 4 ohm Polk Lsi9’s to my old ears👍 My viewers heard the same and I got no complaints..
How does it compare with Sonos amp?
I highly recommend crutchfield too.
Just bought it for desktop speakers
Thanks!
Can I use this with kef speakers for my TV ?

Does it offer bit perfect music when using Apple Music? Similar to what the Fiio and eversolo offer?
What is a better Late Night Listening Speaker the OGY/BOB or the Voyager TL? TIA!!!
Love Crutchfield! I've bought many products from them. I might get one for the RV or tailgating.
Can I group 4 Sonos speaks and create home theater effect with sound sound using Wiim amp?
@@SrinivasaRaoGurram did you get an answer?
I would love to know what EQ settings you used as I own it myself.
I ended up dialing in a custom EQ that sounded best to me for my room.
What a bargain at $300!
Let's see if we can drive the price up to $1500... 🤔

If it had digital out so you could use your own dac and amps that would be perfect as a first step all in one system..
They also make a model called the WIIM Pro which is just the streamer to do exactly what you're saying
@@johnduncan9036 And that one doesnt have HDMI eArc in. So both are useless to a wide swath of people @wiim
421usd in Norway + shipping. Just saying.
Thanks
What about Dolby atmos? Does it support?
NO
i wonder how it compares with products like the Sony STRDH190. its much cheaper too....
Eversolo killer?
Wiim Amp vs PS Sprout vs Nad D??? Anyone?

'Wiim Amp' ($299) has Airplay 2. The new 'Wiim Amp Pro' ($379) will not have Airplay.

How much did Crutchfield pay you ?
he said he bought it himself. save your cynicism.
