  • In this flamenco guitar tutorial, Kai covers how to use all of your right-hand techniques to play Tapado (Palo Seco) and become a flamenco percussionist, and we also look at Nudillos - using your knuckles to play patterns on the guitar or any wooden surface you can find.
The guitar in this video is Kai’s 1969 Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso (Hermanos Conde)

I discovered Flamenco Explained with Kai Narezo about 2 months ago and in those 2 months I lost weight and have had NO social life. The weightloss is because when I get home from work, I "just need to try something I thought about" and when I - finally - have seen, and played to, these tutorials so many times I lost count, suddenly every nearby supermarket has closed.
On the bright side I've learned things I never thought I'd be able to play, and every day I get this WOW feeling when those endless hours of practice pay off.

For the record, no one has had much of a social life these past months :) But I hope the weight loss was welcome and glad you’re enjoying the videos!

Wow! This is the first instructional material I've seen explaining "nudillo". I've seen the technique done (usually on table tops!), but didn't know it was done on guitar, let alone what it was called. Thanks, Kai!

Nice video! In fact, the right hand patterns for each palo should be learned while your learning the palo, so that when you apply the chords you sound good... we need to do each hand individually, then combine the two 🤙🏾
Hey Kai we’re also in LA and would love to collab with you on a video. Send us a note if you’re interested 🤙🏾

Very good. Also just a good way to determine what rhythmic strum pattern you want while composing, before picking the actual chords.
