I read “Daisy Miller” only about a year ago. It was enjoyable but surprisingly short. Having previously read his full length novel “The Wings of the Dove”, I was anticipating a more developed plot. Several decades later, in “The Custom of the Country”, James’ very good friend Edith Wharton more fully develops this theme of the cultural clash of the entrenched European aristocracy and newly minted millionaires of American industry in the late 19th C. You would probably enjoy reading it.

I had to get rid of most of my book collection a few years ago, and my current collection doesn't match the old one yet. That is the main reason I have been holding back on doing a bookshelf tour. But I would like to do one at some point.
