Finally, the in-depth review I've actually been waiting for. Another important point: All Non-US versions of the Razer Blades (non-base models) don't have the secondary function key symbols which light up. This is not advertised on their websites (where they always have the US keyboard layout promo pictures on display). So as I'm living in the UK, I ordered mine from the US instead. Also I can confirm: only the 240Hz QHD panel has Advanced Optimus.

I have this laptop and I am enjoying it so far.
One thing I learned - is that the restoration media Razer will provide does not include the Intel RST driver. If you want to run raid1 or raid0 with a pair of NVME you either have to do a clean install of Windows and provide the RST driver, or insert the driver into the Razer restore media. If you put it into the media you have to insert it into both the WindowsRE environment as well as the Windows Image the media restores.

Thanks Jarrod. I tested these on a new youtube channel I started consumertechwarehouse. I’m getting virtually identical scores on red dead on even the GE76 3080 Ti. Was looking forward to your review because I was going crazy testing and retesting. I was expecting a bigger gap on the gaming side. The only big swings I saw was at 1080p and that’s mainly due to the difference between the i9 in the GE76 and the i7 in the blade 17 QHD

Having owned a Razer 15 and 17, neither will disappoint - the 15 is a great general laptop for all needs (obviously gaming) and a lot easier if you are on the move a lot. In contrast, the 17 has more of the ‘wow’ factor and is undoubtedly better for gaming, specifically.

BUYER BEWARE - I have the 2019 17" pro version of this laptop. Looking at the one being reviewed i see that it has the same fatal flaw as mine. The 3 pin charge adaptor on the left side of the laptop is Razer proprietary and i have not been able to find one on ebay or ali express. On my laptop the pins inside the charge adapter snapped due to wear. I heard a clicking sound each time and the pins snapped. Contacting Razer support they refused to send me the part or give a repair price. Apparently I would have to send away the laptop potentially for several months in order for them to name me a price. So what i am saying is they have customers over a barrel ,the connector is proprietary and not available anywhere. This is an expensive laptop and there was no way I would send it off and be left hanging like that. Anyway I fixed mine with a couple of brass rods from model scenery supplies and a lot of careful soldering. If you can't do this then don't buy one of these as it is a timebomb and with their refusal to even consider simply sending me a replacement part then they are ripping you off. Apple may be bad but at least Ebay is chock full of parts for them salvaged from already failed machines with these you have to actually repair the components yourself.

Word of warning: I would NOT recommend getting Razer’s Blade laptops. I have used a top spec late 2019 rtx2080 model, and boy oh boy.. all the problems that goes with it. As with what Jarrod said, the paint on the case chips off so easily. I literally never take my laptop anywhere, it never moves from my desk, and yet the ENTIRE sides of the enclosure has its paint chipped off within 3 months. On top of that, within the same period, 7 of the keys RGB’s malfunctioned and wont light up in certain colors (this obviously lowers performance by 69.420%). Then there’s the battery bloating issue. The nail on the coffin? Razer’s notoriously terrible support.
I honestly think the only reason people go for Razer Blades are its sleek look - and once again, in barely a few months, it will look ugly.
I’ve never regretted a high-priced purchase as much as this one.

First of all, thank you for the great reviews. No sugar coating or getting emotional. :) I have the i9 version for a couple of weeks now and I wanted to add my remarks.
    - I got it over others due to the more professional look, as I am a developer and I used to have a thick and large MSI Titan previously which often received giggles and funny reactions from the people at the office, so this time I decided to get something more "normal looking".
    - Unfortunately, the performance is not different from the i7 version, except the single core. CPU temperature easily reaches 100°C under load. I am still in discussion with Razer support if that is normal. Benchmark scores are all over the place. I have seen both ~8700 and ~13800 in Time Spy CPU results. Since one week, I am asking for an explanation from Razer about this (and the 100°C) but no luck so far. They also told me that, if I repaste, my warranty will be void. So waiting.
    - I installed Fedora Linux 36 (Beta) with kernel 5.17 and in Optimus mode everything I tested works. In dGPU only mode, the screen brightness cannot be adjusted. There is a kernel driver to control the performance options like the Synapse on Windows and after small updates to the code for this model, I was able to boost the CPU and the GPU and control the fans.
    - The BIOS is a complete disappointment.
I like the screen and working on it but the unstable performance is irritating at this price.

@@MaDFroG88 I think some of those comments were overblown. It's going to run hot because it's still a laptop. There are other gaming laptops that are less portable and have better thermals but that's always a trade-off with X86 laptops. I found the performance of mine to be great and based on reviews as well as personal experience, the 9th gen i7 performed about on par with other ultra-premium notebooks in the same price range. Razer definitely made a choice to prioritize a thin, attractive design at the expense of the best possible performance but thee was plenty of headroom for the 2080 in the model I had. I'd love to try the new 12th gen model with the QHD display as that seems like it would really be a better configuration than what was available in 2020 when I bought mine.

19:49 I might be able to explain the lack of sound in Linux. It may be due to the multiple speaker setup. On my Asus ROG Strix Scar G15 (2021), to get the tweeters to work, I needed to manually change some settings in some settings panels (I forget the name of the tool, but I found it and how to get the tweeters to emit sound when searching online). Otherwise, only the woofers would activate, which led to very low sound and too much bass. Maybe the same thing is happening here. Jarrod are you going to review the Asus g15 anytime soon, or the 12 games tested, i really would love that, seeing as theres literally no videos out about it yet.
