How barrels are made for aging wine, bourbon, Scotch, and other spirits. Kelvin Cooperage in Lousiville, Kentucky makes new barrels and repairs and restores older barrels in a similar way to the way barrels have been made for hundreds of years.

It's amazing to see a product used for such a time span, 60 years or so. In this day and age everything seems to become obsolete in only a few years, but some things like these are valued up until the very end.

Such a fascinating process that is still done all by hand! However, this guy said bourbon may age up to 8 yrs in one barrel... Guess he forgot about Eagle Rare 10 year, Weller 12 year, Pappy 12,15, and 20 year etc... Plenty of bourbons age well passed 8 years.
