  • Removing a corroded aluminum valve stem cap on my 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser.
What a pain. Stick with plastic caps!!!
Had to cut the seized cap off with a dremel very carefully. Aluminum caps will corrode onto your valve stems and are almost impossible to get off.
My advice-stick with cheap plastic valve stem caps!

Just rub some olive oil on the threads of stem before putting the cap on? Or perhaps wrap threads with a layer of plumbers tape before putting cap on? Ever had a problem with mine down here next to the ocean air. Check em regularly..

It is very likely all the heat by friction made the metal expand and that's how you were able to remove the cap. A lighter may have done the same trick

if you put some heat on it from a lighter or small cigar torch for about 30 seconds it'll screw right off.

This is the correct answer. Just did it and 15 seconds with a crack torch worked perfect
