"the worst that could happen, did happen" The car was too banged up to run at the next race, so no. The worse that could have happened is that the car could have caught fire and burned the driver to death after killing some bystanders on the way off the track. Racing has changed.
The worse thing that could happen is not crashing the only LMP1 prototype Toyota. It's killing the driver of the only LMP1 prototype Toyota. They continue to fail at Le Mans.
Phaha , ''the first ever hybrid LMP1'' my ass... the Audi R18 made his debut at the same time , why would the Toyota be the first?? And the story with the 2013 debut changed for 2012 ... yea , you'd better just stay one more year and make a car that can actualy last 24 hours.
+Fisi NbOne Toyota has bragging rights, Audi does not have a hybrid in their roadcar lineup, they followed Toyota to go hybrid when the ACO made the rule change.
Nick Navata what I'm saying is how is hybrid relevant suddenly to the european teams, when it was Toyota who came out with the Prius in 2004. Audi suddenly advertises hybrid at lemans in 2011 when their road cars A3-A8 had never had such things. If someone says to me "hybrid", I think of Prius, I would have never thought of Audis. Know what I'm saying.
Too bad the TS030 was a slow piece of shit... ... And the TS040... And the TS050 could only win when they literally had no competition at all. You fail to impress me Toyota. Why does Toyota suck? This is why... WRC champions due to outright cheating and having 30hp more than any other car. Remove the cheating air intake restrictor and Toyota doesn't win WRC title. The early 90s TS010 was garbage. Couldn't run flat out for 24 hours because the fuel economy was terrible, therefore they were slow. Very slow. Late 90s TS020 (GT-One) was decent, but couldn't win at Le Mans Toyota f1 program was a complete joke - almost a billion dollar adventure, almost a decade of F1 racing - and no wins. What a joke. TS030 couldn't beat Audi. TS040 couldn't beat Audi. TS050 couldn't beat Audi or Porsche. Toyota FINALLY won Le Mans in 2018... After Audi and Porsche had both quit racing in LMP1. Toyota hybrid was slower than the NON HYBRID Audi... Slower than the hybrid audi... And slower than the hybrid Porsche. Took 6 years to win Le Mans and only happened when there weren't any hybrids except for the Toyota - and the ACO rules purposely made the non hybrid LMP1 cars much slower than the Toyota. The Toyota was 5 seconds per lap faster than the non hybrid LMP1 cars... And NOT because they were outright faster. They were 5 seconds faster because the rules forced the non hybrid cars to have small fuel tanks and also reduced the allowable fuel flow.... Basically, the rules forced the non hybrids to make more pit stops on top of the fact that the reduced fuel flow turned 750hp cars into 600hp cars. Toyota wishes they could be half as good at endurance racing as audi and Porsche. We'll see in 2021 if they can actually win a race against equal competition. Toyota has literally NEVER won a race against equal competition and equal cars. Toyota is frankly shit as a racing team.
Interesting subject, but man do I hate that roller bar in the bottom of the frame. It has no purpose than to distract and exhaust the viewer.
I felt so bad when they lost Le Mans few minutes before the end... they deserved to win so much. Keep up fighting Toyota!
24 hours is not just driver focused but stresses the hell out of the cars,
Manufacturers should take le mans seriously than any other motorsport.
The sound is amazing when the car switching from electric engine to gas engine.
Thanks for the upload, if I hadn't seen it here I wouldn't of seen it at all....
where is part 2
Back when speed existed and wasn't the NASCAB channel and LMP 1 was over the top with factory teams.
Good lord, who subtitled the interviews?
Still took em another 6 years to win Le mans.
