Gluckwunsche Hans !! I'm glad they let you share your archaeological finds with your followers ... please thank whoever it was from us and thanks to you as well for getting it done . Einfach genial !
+eric land hello eric! thank you my friend. . I'm happy about that too! and of course I'm grateful for this opportunity! . . I will do that ;) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Amazing finds that I believe without you and your detecting would be lost to the archaeological team. I think you are doing a wonderful thing in helping them, and of course we can see the great pleasure you get from finding such very old objects. Good luck 🍀 and happy hunting Hans. Mary-Ellen UK
Wonderous...the things you are able to uncover, Hans. Thank you for sharing your time and finds with us. I, for one, am glad we no longer go to war with swords and arrows, long knives and spears. Be well my friend, Johann.
Not me. In the Middle Ages, war was more of a game for the nobility. Only the peasants who could not run away fast enough were killed. The knights had "indestructible" armor. And ransoms were constantly being paid. The battles were incredibly short and so were wars. Not the constant bloodbath of today's wars where you don't even see your enemies. Skill, Strength and Honor have been replaced by everyone's trigger finger.
+Russ White hello russ! I have to thank you for watching :) I'm so happy and grateful about the permission to show the finds. . thank you for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Hi Hans that was an absolute amazing hunt and I enjoyed the video very much, the time you put into each find really does pay off for you. You had some fantastic finds from that day so very well done and documented. History saved once again :-) GL & HH
+David Stadtlander hello david, thank you my friend! I'm so glad that you like my videos! thank you for watching them! the battle axes are one of my favourite finds too. . the big one I've found on the field excavation was still sharp an I cut myself . . hahah all the best, GL&HH! hans
+Retired AF CE hello rob! yes it is! It's such a nice change to my hunts on the fields. . .that would be the best storyteller!! especially the place where the excavation takes place is loaded with history! thank you for watching and for your kind words my friend! all the best, hans
Some wonderful finds there Hans, and surprised how shallow that final hammered silver was. You are very fortunate to be involved in those archaeological investigations, many thanks for sharing 👍
+ThePhilandPam hello my friend. . .I'm glad to hear that you like the finds! the "prager greoschen" from the 13th century was even shallower . . I've never experienced something like that! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Awesome finds, I love the medieval Era, even the dark ages. I loved growing up in Germany. Thanks for helping the field mouse as well. I bet it loved it...lol
Your sword is called a Zweihänder also called a Bidenhänder, primarily in use during the early decades of the 16th century. Thank you Hans for sharing your exciting opportunities to bring back the lost history for everyone to enjoy once again. :) you are very lucky to be able to experience this type of work! Hope there is a lot more for you in the future and the super sweet finds. For us the excitement is in finding the target then the feel good we get turning it over for the world to see. You are doing an excellent job my Friend :)
+Hunter RedBlood hello my friend.. that's right! how do you know? are you interested in old swords? It's my pleasure to share my digs with you all! thank you for watching my videos! I worked hard for this opportunity so it's not so much about luck. . I had to convince the archaeologists that I'm trustworthy...the team of archaeologists I'm working with already included me in future excavations so I'm hoping to be able to present you more nice finds :) thank you for your kind words! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Each and every time I get a new video from you. Im pleased and learn more about olden time or the history. going to miss your videos when the snow comes .

+Michael Hopton hello michael! thank you for watching my videos :) I'm happy to hear that you like them! all the best and thank you for your kind comment! hans
I was sitting here thinking, what the hell is a pommel? Then you said "For those of you who do not know what a pommel is...." My God Man! It came out of nowhere! Hahaha! You are very respectful to the work being done and I respect you for that... Beautiful finds! I'm so glad you are able to show us...but that is a reflection on you and you only... you are respected and trusted....you are doing good work. Because this a labor of love for you, we are able to enjoy the fruits of it! Thank you again for the wonder of it all.... Beste, Anna
+Anna M. Addison haha. . I'm glad I explained it ;) I encounter the finds I make with a lot of awe and deep respect! I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to unearth these museums pieces and I don't take it for granted! thank you for your kind words and for watching :) all the best, hans
Hans, I'm so pleased to see some much anticipated highlights from your archaeological connections. The sword pommel is stunning and the battle axe is a real beauty. Although it's a challenge to imagine the lives of the people who carried those weapons and depended upon them to stay alive, finding their tools today is truly worthy of GPS note. I'm glad you were there to find them and I look forward to more from my fortunate friend. Well done. :)
+Kim Jameson hello kim my friend :) thank you once again for a kind, kind comment and of course for watching my videos! I'm happy to hear that you liked my video about the finds of the excavations! the pommel is great! I took a while until i recognized it though :) the axes are really heavy and big. . the one from the field excavation is still sharp. . i cut myself in the finger whilst digging it out :D thank you again kim! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+TerraGermania Getting cut is a bummer Hans, but it speaks well for the quality of the blade, doesn't it? It seems eerie that after so many years, the archaic killing tool is still drawing blood. Another thought I had was, since the pommel is a counterweight for the length of the blade, I wonder if it's possible to envision the size of the sword by extrapolation of balance, adding some weight for the nut that secured it to the tang of the blade. Too much thinking, probably. :-)
yes it does! and you are right it was a strange to think that I was the first one after hundreds of years to be hurt by it again . .haha the manufacturing of swords is and has always been a science and I think that you have to practise a long, long time until you are a master of this field. . .i'm not really aware of all coherences :) all the best my friend, hans
Thanks for showing us some of the History of that area Han's what an Incredible hunt & the finds are Fantastic. So peaceful there no sounds of road noise at all, Loved the video.
+YFZMoto hello my friend. .my pleasure! thank you for watching! I'm happy to hear that you like the finds and the peaceful countryside. . it's a very remote place where the woodland excavation is and every day there Is like a little holiday :) thank you for your kind words! all the best, hans

+crabstick333 hello charlie! thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that you like it! finding the late antique fibula in this predominantly medieval environment was great! it gave the archaeologists new clues :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Some incredible finds, Hans. For me, the exciting one was the runic ring. I wrote a book about runes for a British publisher a few years back. I had a lot of fun researching runes and their meanings both ancient and modern. To see a ring like that among your finds gave me chills. Thank you so much for sharing!
+Joanna Sandsmark hello joanna, I'm happy to hear you like them :) wow! really! so you are an expert! I'm looking forward to hearing what's written on the ring and about it's purpose! all I know so far is, that it isn't old. . . thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
I have really missed seeing your videos Hans. Its been awhile but I knew you were busy with important work. Thank you for sharing your incredible, wonderful relics. I can see why you were one of the chosen ones to work on an important dig. You are very knowledgeable and so careful when locating and unearthing your items. I always learn something from your videos because you know what you're talking about so it is proper history information. Thank you, excellent work.
+get in thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that :) my pleasure! thank you for watching my videos! thank you for your kind words! it's just my passion to work there and there is no better hobby than the one you do with passion :) thank you again! all the best, GL&HH! hans

+fredbug67 hello fred! tank you for stopping by and for your kind words! I'm so happy to be able to show you my finds from the excavations and even film at the digs. . .It took a moment until I realized what I've found but then I was over the moon! all the best, GL&HH! hans
You found some really wonderful items. I spent many years in Germany (Kaiserslautern and Otterbach) as a kid. If I could ever go back I would appreciate it a lot more. Thank you for your videos.
+Exploring Alabama thank you, I'm glad you like them! . . . the interest for history usually comes when one grows older. . it's the same in my case! I'm happy to be able to present you history from your old home :) thank you for watching and for your kind comments! all the best, GL&HH! hans
One of the best videos. I love that sword! When you did I often wonder if my ancestors could have lost a button or two. My Aunt and I were talking above Grandmother Nolte today.
What some lovely artefacts you have found , especially the sword pommel and the battle axes ! What a privilege to be allowed to work so closely with the archaeologists, I expect you learn a lot from them .Well done Hans for another excellent video .
+Andrew PIKE hello andrew! thank you my friend, I'm glad you like the finds and as you can imagine I'm amazed at them too! I really enjoy the work there and I don't take this opportunity for granted! +Colin King hello colin! thank you my friend, I'm glad you like the finds! yes I do. . they are really nice to me and they show me their appreciation. they even included me in future excavations already! thank you for watching and for your kind comment colin! i appreciate it! all the best, GL&HH! hans
I'm much interested in metal detecting, especially old stuff. Never had the chance to do it, except on a beach once or twice. To me it will be a perfect holiday to just accompany you on a dig like that, helping to cover some more ground, with guidance and training from you. My gain, only the enjoyment and experience, all finds yours. Thanks.
+Kobie Nel hello kobie, I get this request quite often and believe me, I would love to be accompanied whilst detecting. unfortunately it is a term of my permissions not to bring other people and detectorists to the sites i examine. all that I can offer you is to join me through my videos :) thank you for watching! all the best, hans
Expected something like that. :-) Unfortunately it is necessary for that kind of rules to be made. I'll sure watch more of your videos, and good luck digging up history.
Very nice finds! It has to be very exciting to be apart of the unearthing of your country's vast history! Good luck on your future archaeological digs and I cant wait to see what you find!!-Chris
+chris weese hello chris! i'm happy to hear you like the finds! it is indeed very exciting! the variety of finds from different epochs makes it so interesting too! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans

+Bruce Olsen hello bruce, It's indeed a great experience for me to join an enterprise like that. I'm grateful and I don't take it for granted! thank you for watching my videos and for your kind comment! all the best, hans

I just love what you are doing I am almost as excited as your are with your finds can you just imagine someone had that coin or ring or axe so I am so excited for you thank you for sharing
Oh haha, du hast ein Peter gesicht....haha. Sorry Hans ! Keep up the good work ! Few weeks ago I found a 9th century Viking ring, 9 grams solid gold. Just like you when you found the mediëval ring in the forest, I was stunned !
+Andrew Colella thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that you like my video! thanks a lot for watching! I don't take this opportunity for granted and I'm very happy and grateful to have it! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+MrGerryodonothing thank you gerry, I'm happy to hear that you like the finds! the ring is interesting but it isn't old... thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+Rafael Ribeiro Rezende hello rafael! thank you, I'm glad to hear you like it! thank you for watching! I'm so grateful for the permission to show the finds! I appreciate it! thank you for your kind comment! all the best, hans
This has to be my favorite video so far. Even though there wasn’t much detecting, the quality of the finds is just incredible. It’s interesting to compare the coins found here with the ones you normally find- these look so much older, but still there is so much detail on them! I love the battle axes also. If only I could go back in time to see them in use, it had to be quite a show. That replica sword you had is so badass!
Awsome finds Hans.Lovely silvers. You where lucky to get the chance to assist in finding the history of that area. Great watch as normal. All the best Dave.
+david hopper hello david, I'm glad you like them! I'm amazed about them too as you can imagine! it was not about luck but about work to convince them that I'm trustworthy. metal detectorists still doesn't have the best of reputations amongst the archaeologists here in germany. . .thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
LG, GL&HH! hans
Hello Hans, Hope you are keeping well and thank you for another great video, some interesting finds you made Hans. I like your dedication to the history when you detect and always describe in the best detail you can about your find, I am sure you work well with the archaeologists when you meet up with them. A great choice of music again and all the very best to you on future hunts Hans, Regards Richard GL&HH.
+booeddie100 hello my friend, I'm glad that you like my video the finds and music! thank you for your kind words about it! detecting and archaeology is my passion and I consider it as a privilege to join these excavations. . . thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best to you and GL&HH for you next hunts! hans
Super video hans, can almost feel the exciting moments to detect at those places, amazing finds, look forward to the next vid .the big "knife" was funny surprice.LOL .must be one of your best moments TOP!!!
+benwiwi67 hello ben, thank you my friend. . I'm happy to hear that you like my video! It is very exciting to detect the woodland excavation as huge parts of the area have never been detected before. . . I'M glad you like the sword moment :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Hans... What a marvelous experience for you to be included on these digs ... It tells us a lot about your character to be trusted to participate. I look forward to future discoveries, and am very interested to discover what is written on the ring. I noticed that you were wearing an insect screen on your hat ... what kind of bugs were you avoiding? I noticed that your arms were unprotected. Thanks, Bud down in Texas.
+Milo Miller hello bud! yes it is! I'm so happy and grateful to be part of these excavations and I don't take this opportunity for granted!. . .the whole excavation team is so nice! I'm curious about the translation of the runes too. . I will pass on the result as soon as I have it! I used the insect screen to protect myself from ordinary flies driving me insane by flying in my ears and around my eyes etc. . but also against horseflies . . .I had repellent on my arms :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
+Djanilson Souza oi djanilson! obrigado :) i'm happy to hear that you like my videos! thank you for watching them and for your kind words! all the best, hans
Wonderful video Hans! You have made sooo many videos that it's going to take me months to have viewed them. But I'm happy with that. Wishing you peace 🙏
Fantastic finds there Hans, Really nice coins and in good condition for woodland. Bet the archaeologists were interested with your finds. Very nice hunt. All the best. HH Tony
+magpie307 hello tony! thank you, I'm glad you like the finds! I'm very happy about them too as you can imagine :) the coins were super shallow too which is quite unusual! the area definitely has never been detected before. . . the archaeologists are amazed by the finds. . they don't use metal detectors and that's why they aren't used to have many metal finds of the surrounding areas. . . thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hi Hans, that's awesome to see you part of an archaeological excavation :-) The finds you shown us are pretty nice ones as specially the first one and the swart pommel. Your explanation about it was pretty cool :-). I love the Prager Groschen because this was my first silver coin I found when I start doing metal detecting ;-) The other silver coins you found are pretty amazing too. Lots of history was going on at this area of course. I wish I could do something equal here in Austria! Thanks for sharing us this beautiful finds :-) GL&HH, Paul
+hotliner hello paul! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed watching my video about the excavation and my explanation about the sword pommel! wow! what a great first find! for me the prager groschen was my first real medieval coin :) can't you volunteer in archaeological excavations in austria? thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Ha! Love the sword reveal at the end, Hans! That pommel is indeed a beauty and I can understand why you like it so much. Last year I was lucky enough to find a dagger shape complete with some cloth surviving and upon inspection with a loupe, it is even dated, with 1411 ADC scratched onto its surface. Anyway, another great video, Hans. Thank you.
+Chuffedagenix hello my friend... I'm happy to hear that, thank you! the pommel is amazing. . .imagine what the sword looked like and who owned it. . came the pommel off in a fight. . etc. . you cant get closer to history! congrats on your amazing find! It's a great thing to find dates on relics! thank you for watching and for your kind words! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+dave fox hello dave! thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that you like it! I hope to be able to make more videos of this kind in the future :) . . .glad you like the sword! it's a wonderful toy :) all the best, hans
fantastic video with some truly great finds. I can honestly say I am jealous of you being able to dig with an archaeological team. Looking forward to seeing what is coming next.
thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear you like my video! It's a great opportunity to volunteer on excavations! I got to know lovely people and it's fantastic to have an instant definition of the finds by passionate archaeologists like the ones I was working with. thank you for watching!
Amazing opportunity to be able to volunteer on that dig. Indy...I mean Hans....we all know you are there in the Teutoberg Forest hoping to find the lost eagle standards of the Roman legions defeated there! Oh...I also believe the pommel also functioned as a hand stop, so that when gripping (especially if your hands were sweaty or bloody) the handle your hand wouldn't slide off as you were withdrawing your sword. I really appreciate you sharing the dig with us. I was hoping you'd be allowed to.
+Greg Kerr hello greg, yes it is and i don't take it for granted! haha. . that would be a cool find! you are definitely right about the other function you described. . .the pommel was also used to hit the enemy with it as every part of the sword was a weapon. i really appreciate that you watch my videos! thank you for that and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+Martin Nielsen hello martin! thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that you like it! the silver coins are great! I've found my first proper medieval coin there! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Super video again Hans. 😊. I could not watch it sooner, so i saved it for a "i cant sleep moment." and i still cant sleep after those great finds. A week ago i went to Wolfsburg for my work and during the drive over there i saw some great fields....i wish i had the time to detect them all. Lol...well nothing wrong with having fantasie's. Keep the video's comming Hans. A part from my adiction "detecting" is watching them videos. Thx my friend. 👍👍
+Rens de Rooij hello rens, thank you my friend, I'm glad you like it! haha. . .a can't sleep moment? I do the same when driving. . always checking out the fields aside of the road :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+TerraGermania lol idd that are time's i lay in bed and i cant fall in to sleep 😊. Just been to my City Archelogist...i found a Little axe from the early Bronse age. So im realy exited now. Thats going to be a cant sleep moment. Lol thx again my friend have fun and good hunts.
Hallo Hans! I hope that the archeologists realize that they have the right man for the job with you there, Genau! The history just comes alive in your videos-thank you. -peter lorenz
+roadpanzir hello peter! I get a lot of attention from them :) but it's easy to impress them as they don't use metal detectors! It's great to work with the archaeologists as you get instant informations about the finds you make and they are really nice people too! I enjoy every second there! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the bes, GL&HH! hans
+Ted Price thank you ted! I'm glad you like the finds I made :) you are right about the comments! I'm overwhelmed by the kind comments of my followers including you :) thank you and thanks to everybody for the support! all the best, hans
Another glorious film Hans. Excellent finds, great camera work and I loved the little vole. That sword is a crazy size and even the Scottish claymore pales in comparison compared to that beast. GL&HH
+Pondguru Outdoors thank you richard! I appreciate your kind words very much! the vole is one of our excavation mice. they live under the construction trailer and became quite tame. they don't have to care about food supply :) these german "zweihänder" swords are barbaric lol. . .they were also called "gassenhauer" which gruffly translated means "ginnel hewer" as they were used to hit alleys into the enemies lines of battle. . . thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+TerraGermania No worries, man and thanks for the extra info on the sword. Even a Viking would have trouble wielding that monster killer. When you're swinging that sword and considering you are in Germany maybe we should call you Conan the Bavarian, lol
+wadoman699 hello my friend, thank you, I'm happy to hear that you like my video the finds and my sword! yes it is! it's very interesting and I learn a lot thereby! thank your for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Hi Hans! Just want to say I love your videos. Best I have seen so far. So nice to watch, well made and keeps us going on those days when we can't get out detecting. Only found your vids two weeks ago and so looking forward to watching through your playlist. I now have a sister in law who is German and she has invited my wife and I over to Cologne. I have always wanted to go and even better now I started Metal detecting. I want to say hello to you from me and my two relatives here in Wales UK all using whites XLT'S and want to say thanks for the vids and very good effort!
hello carl, welcome on my channel! thank you for watching my videos and for your kind words about them :) I'm happy to hear you like my videos! I hope you will have a great time in cologne! but please note that we have strict detecting laws in germany. I don't want you to get in trouble with the police on your visit. say hello back to your relatives and thank them on behalf of me :) all the best, GL&HH! hans
My roots go back to Germany and Sweden. Also,Poland on my mother side. I would love to come visit so badly!! I metal detect also, but can not find treasures that old. Love your videos.

+Harold Lundy glad you like my hunt mate, thank you for watching and for your kind comment! it's a beautiful axe and it was deep down in the ground. . all the best, hans
Great video again Hans ,very well presented as always some stunning finds unearthed from those woods ,that sword is a beast ,hard to imagine how sumone swung that around lol anyway thanks for sharing buddy G/L & H/H.:)
+mattys metal detecting south wales hello my friend. . . thank you for watching and for your kind comment! I'm glad that you like the finds! these bihänder swords are barbaric. . haha. . google: "flamberger sword" and you will see an interesting different design! all the best, GL&HH! hans
You are correct, the old roads avoid the deep rivers and streams. My wife and I went 4x4 driving on an old highway. It went up into the hills away from the many deep watercourses across a more direct route. Up in the hills the streams are just trickles starting out. The modern road has many bridges built.
fantastic video Hans as usual, your finds of history in context would be extremely valuable in forming a detailed archaeological map of chronology around the objects you have found at the site you are working on, accolades should be heaped upon you for your efforts and skill with a detector. As you are bringing back the silent irretrievably lost past back to fascinate and speak to us again. When looking at these lost items the minds eye can image the very moment they were dropped and the probable circumstances that placed them there. You make the best videos with your style and fantastic camera, because you take us with you as if we're actually there. I have seen a lot of other detecting films and none can surpass your efforts. So looking forward to more of your finds, keep it up mate. And remember it's fate not luck that brings the best finds.
+John Korhonen hello john! thank you very much for your kind comment! you made me happy with all the nice things you said about my videos and the way I make them! I'm also glad to hear that you like the finds. the archaeologists gonna transfer all the gps coordinates to a map of the area and I'm looking forward to seeing the result. . .I receive a lot of appreciation for my work from the scientists :) thank you for watching my videos and once again for your kind words! all the best, hans
+lionel lloyd hello lionel, I'm happy to hear that you like my finds! It is indeed surprising. . the soil is dry even after rain! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Great video again Hans Some amazing finds you did there, very nice you could make a video of the excavation. The sword was a big surprise :-) lol Best wishes my friend GL&HH Don
+Don koffie hello don my friend! I'm happy that you like the finds! I'm very happy about them as you can imagine :) I'm looking forward to filming on my next hunt there ! haha. . it was funny to film this scene. . i had a lot of outtakes ;) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Great video - I especially like the coins. I think it's great that you map your finds with GPS - a great indication of past activity in the area. ps. I didn't know that swords that large existed!
+Kev Maverick hello kev, thank you, I'm happy to hear you like it! I have to take the coordinates of each and every find i make. . It's very interesting to see the finds on a map. . .it gives you clues! these swords are unbelievably large. . .It's hard to believe how the landsknechte could fight with them! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
The coin at 09:50 appears to be a Pfalz-Sulzbach 1766 10 Kreuzer, and a very nice one! The phrase "AD MORMAM CONVENTION" indicates that it was stuck according to treaty specifications. "Don't think too much" may be the best advice ever given. The coin at 16:00 is from Karl Eugen, Duke of Wurttemberg. I'm unsure of it's denomination.
thank you for the hints. since I handed the coins over on the day I found them I wasn't able to clean and define them. thank you for watching and for your helpful comment!
Hello Hans Great ancient trade roads are fascinating1 Thanks! We in Michigan and Wisconsin have ancient fur trading routes full of native American relics and European artifacts called 'traces" game trails the paleo-indians used. Good luck! Barefoot Frank
+Frank D'Alberto hello frank! I love the variety of finds one can make on these old tracks. . .always exciting to detect these places!! wow! that sounds pretty cool! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+Diggin With Dash hello my friend! thank you for watching my video :) yes it's great to have the permission! I wasn't sure if I would ever get it! thank you for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans

Amazing finds that I believe without you and your detecting would be lost to the archaeological team. I think you are doing a wonderful thing in helping them, and of course we can see the great pleasure you get from finding such very old objects. Good luck 🍀 and happy hunting Hans. Mary-Ellen UK
Fantastic stuff. Discovering and preserving history.
Wonderous...the things you are able to uncover, Hans. Thank you for sharing your time and finds with us. I, for one, am glad we no longer go to war with swords and arrows, long knives and spears. Be well my friend, Johann.
+Johnny Sachu hello johann,
thank you for watching my videos! haha. . I would be glad if we wouldn't go to war at all :)
all the best,
hans
Skill, Strength and Honor have been replaced by everyone's trigger finger.
thankyou hans im glad youve got permission to let everybody witness such extraordinary relics fantastic cant wait for another video.
+Russ White hello russ!
I have to thank you for watching :) I'm so happy and grateful about the permission to show the finds. . thank you for your kind comment!
all the best,
hans
Just to see the old roads is so exciting,THE RELICS! Oh my gosh.,your one lucky guy to be involved,I must say they picked a good hunter like you!👍🇨🇦

Awesome video my friend.
+Retired AF CE hello rob!

thank you for watching and for your kind words my friend!
all the best,

Some wonderful finds there Hans, and surprised how shallow that final hammered silver was. You are very fortunate to be involved in those archaeological investigations, many thanks for sharing 👍
+ThePhilandPam hello my friend. . .I'm glad to hear that you like the finds! the "prager greoschen" from the 13th century was even shallower . . I've never experienced something like that!
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!

I worked hard for this opportunity so it's not so much about luck. . I had to convince the archaeologists that I'm trustworthy...the team of archaeologists I'm working with already included me in future excavations so I'm hoping to be able to present you more nice finds :)
thank you for your kind words!

Beste, Anna
+Anna M. Addison haha. . I'm glad I explained it ;)
I encounter the finds I make with a lot of awe and deep respect! I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to unearth these museums pieces and I don't take it for granted! thank you for your kind words and for watching :)
all the best,
hans
Pommel, best used to end them rightly !
Well done. :)
+Kim Jameson hello kim my friend :)
thank you once again for a kind, kind comment and of course for watching my videos! I'm happy to hear that you liked my video about the finds of the excavations! the pommel is great! I took a while until i recognized it though :)
the axes are really heavy and big. . the one from the field excavation is still sharp. . i cut myself in the finger whilst digging it out :D
thank you again kim!
all the best, GL&HH!
yes it does! and you are right it was a strange to think that I was the first one after hundreds of years to be hurt by it again . .haha
the manufacturing of swords is and has always been a science and I think that you have to practise a long, long time until you are a master of this field. . .i'm not really aware of all coherences :)
all the best my friend,
hans
What a beautiful video Hans, great exciting finds, Thank You so much.
Thanks for showing us some of the History of that area Han's what an Incredible hunt & the finds are Fantastic. So peaceful there no sounds of road noise at all, Loved the video.

+Joanna Sandsmark hello joanna,

One of the best videos. I love that sword! When you did I often wonder if my ancestors could have lost a button or two. My Aunt and I were talking above Grandmother Nolte today.

Thanks.
+Kobie Nel hello kobie,
I get this request quite often and believe me, I would love to be accompanied whilst detecting. unfortunately it is a term of my permissions not to bring other people and detectorists to the sites i examine. all that I can offer you is to join me through my videos :) thank you for watching!
all the best,
hans
Expected something like that. :-) Unfortunately it is necessary for that kind of rules to be made. I'll sure watch more of your videos, and good luck digging up history.
unfortunately it is as you said...
thank you for watching my videos!

thank you for your kind comment!
all the best,

This has to be my favorite video so far. Even though there wasn’t much detecting, the quality of the finds is just incredible. It’s interesting to compare the coins found here with the ones you normally find- these look so much older, but still there is so much detail on them! I love the battle axes also. If only I could go back in time to see them in use, it had to be quite a show. That replica sword you had is so badass!
I had one of the best detecting times there. I miss detecting these enchanting woods.
Awsome finds Hans.Lovely silvers. You where lucky to get the chance to assist in finding the history of that area. Great watch as normal. All the best Dave.
+david hopper hello david,
I'm glad you like them! I'm amazed about them too as you can imagine! it was not about luck but about work to convince them that I'm trustworthy. metal detectorists still doesn't have the best of reputations amongst the archaeologists here in germany. . .thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
Amazing...as usually!!!
Thanks for sharing Hans.

Moin Hans,
LG, GL&HH!

+benwiwi67 hello ben,

Hans, a most enjoyable video...as always!
I'm glad about that :) thank you for watching!
Excellent as always!
thank you for watching :)
I used the insect screen to protect myself from ordinary flies driving me insane by flying in my ears and around my eyes etc. . but also against horseflies . . .I had repellent on my arms :)
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best,
hans
Olá, seus videos são espetaculares ! Very cool. Hope you continue sharing with us so great finds! Thanks for this.

I hope you will enjoy watching them :)
Fantastic finds there Hans, Really nice coins and in good condition for woodland. Bet the archaeologists were interested with your finds. Very nice hunt. All the best. HH Tony
+magpie307 hello tony!
thank you, I'm glad you like the finds! I'm very happy about them too as you can imagine :) the coins were super shallow too which is quite unusual! the area definitely has never been detected before. . .
the archaeologists are amazed by the finds. . they don't use metal detectors and that's why they aren't used to have many metal finds of the surrounding areas. . .
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
Ja Flo Hat alles gesagt! Super! Freu mich schon aufs nächste Video...
+Ronny Senftleben danke für deinen besuch und für deine netten worte ronny! es freut mich sehr, dass dir meine videos gefallen!
LG,
I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed watching my video about the excavation and my explanation about the sword pommel!
wow! what a great first find! for me the prager groschen was my first real medieval coin :)
can't you volunteer in archaeological excavations in austria?
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
... you're welcome Hans :-) About your question, at the moment I don't know and have to find out! GL&HH, Paul
It's a great thing to find dates on relics!
thank you for watching and for your kind words!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
I like your work and the knowledge you have about different items. keep uptake good job!!

. . .glad you like the sword! it's a wonderful toy :)
all the best,
hans
fantastic video with some truly great finds.
+Greg Kerr hello greg,
yes it is and i don't take it for granted! haha. . that would be a cool find! you are definitely right about the other function you described. . .the pommel was also used to hit the enemy with it as every part of the sword was a weapon.
i really appreciate that you watch my videos! thank you for that and for your kind comment!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
hello Hans ! once again very nice video ! love the silver coins :) looking forward to se new videos . bedst regards from DK.
+Martin Nielsen hello martin!
thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that you like it! the silver coins are great! I've found my first proper medieval coin there!
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best,
hans
Wow! Such great finds! When you pulled that sword out, my jaw dropped. It looks very heavy.
+Rens de Rooij hello rens,
thank you my friend, I'm glad you like it! haha. . .a can't sleep moment?
I do the same when driving. . always checking out the fields aside of the road :)
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best, GL&HH!

I enjoy every second there!
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!

all the best,

Fascinating episode!
+Oldgittom thank you, I'm glad you like it :) thank you for watching!!!
Another glorious film Hans. Excellent finds, great camera work and I loved the little vole. That sword is a crazy size and even the Scottish claymore pales in comparison compared to that beast. GL&HH
+Pondguru Outdoors thank you richard! I appreciate your kind words very much! the vole is one of our excavation mice. they live under the construction trailer and became quite tame. they don't have to care about food supply :)
these german "zweihänder" swords are barbaric lol. . .they were also called "gassenhauer" which gruffly translated means "ginnel hewer" as they were used to hit alleys into the enemies lines of battle. . .
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best,
GL&HH!
hans
+TerraGermania No worries, man and thanks for the extra info on the sword. Even a Viking would have trouble wielding that monster killer. When you're swinging that sword and considering you are in Germany maybe we should call you Conan the Bavarian, lol
haha. . it took me a while to realize that you've written "bavarian" very good :)
+TerraGermania lol, yes I made myself chuckle with that one.
Awesome video VERY i interesting. MUCH SUCCESS to you.
glad you like my video :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment my friend!
nice vid and finds as usual hans well done.

I am convinced that in some of these videos you are in between Ansbach and Furth. That terrain was my playground for 3 years and I know it well.
it's a bit more to the north .. I detect in the frankfurt area.
I want to say hello to you from me and my two relatives here in Wales UK all using whites XLT'S and want to say thanks for the vids and very good effort!
hello carl,
welcome on my channel! thank you for watching my videos and for your kind words about them :) I'm happy to hear you like my videos! I hope you will have a great time in cologne! but please note that we have strict detecting laws in germany. I don't want you to get in trouble with the police on your visit.
say hello back to your relatives and thank them on behalf of me :)
all the best, GL&HH!

You are correct, the old roads avoid the deep rivers and streams. My wife and I went 4x4 driving on an old highway. It went up into the hills away from the many deep watercourses across a more direct route. Up in the hills the streams are just trickles starting out. The modern road has many bridges built.
Amazing finds !!
glad you like the finds :) thank you for watching!
fantastic video Hans as usual, your finds of history in context would be extremely valuable in forming a detailed archaeological map of chronology around the objects you have found at the site you are working on, accolades should be heaped upon you for your efforts and skill with a detector.
I'm also glad to hear that you like the finds. the archaeologists gonna transfer all the gps coordinates to a map of the area and I'm looking forward to seeing the result. . .I receive a lot of appreciation for my work from the scientists :)

Great video - I especially like the coins. I think it's great that you map your finds with GPS - a great indication of past activity in the area. ps. I didn't know that swords that large existed!

Great Job!
