I think it's some really great information! I think it's difficult to say when it's such a small convention with high set up costs for the first time but hopefully you can do even better next time around!

Thanks for watching Rukey! Yeah I think I would need to do a few to get the hang of it and to get an average profit, hopefully I can update again in the future, thanks again! :)

Thanks for the honest video, it gives those who want to give it a go realistic expectations. Good luck for next time!

Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s important to share that the initial cost of vending at cons is high, especially if you’re buying prints in bulk to save money overall. Your booth looks awesome by the way!
I also made a little over $100 at my first con. It was a small one and I had a sad little booth that I threw together last minute, but I still think it was worth it. Definitely start small (2k visitors) and work your way up to bigger ones (15k and more)

Thanks for watching! I keep looking in to doing more now, slightly bigger ones, but it can be hard fitting them in :( Interesting to see you had a similar experience too, I always find it interesting to see how others get on, but I know not everyone likes to share that info, especially if money is involved XD Thanks again!

this is a good post , especially for newcomers to either the comic industry or self publishing, whether that be prints, stickers or whatever.

Keep at it. My friends who are independent artists also go to small comic cons and at first barely broke even but as they did more conventions they made more sales. Obviously the bigger cons have a lot more traffic and people spend more. At NYCC one of the even sold out her entire stock of prints. She had to call her boyfriend to run to the print shop and get more copies!

Thanks for watching and thank you for the words of encouragement! I will definitely stick at it for a little while :) I would love to try a US convention as I think they're pretty big compared to most of the UK ones!

@@SketchedbySte please keep the vlogs if you do cons. I really enjoyed your honest sharing. I’m not too familiar with cons in other countries. But I guess I’m lucky here in the USA, especially New York where I live we get a lot of big ones, if you ever get the chance. Come to New York comic con. I’m sure it’ll be worth your while. And I’d surely come by your booth 😃

@@macs2015 Thanks so much! I have actually been to NY a few times coincidentally but I'm not sure what dates the conventions are there? I hear they are pretty epic though. I would love to see one in the US, although travelling with stock might be difficult for me ( I have seen some people do it though! )

Ik this is old but tysm for making this! Gonna be selling for my first time at a small con (expecting about 300-1k attendees) and I've been really anxious as the what to expect, vid definitely cures my nerves a little bit lol

You're welcome, thanks so much for watching. I'm really glad I could help - I was pretty anxious / nervous about doing the convention too, so hopefully you can take some comfort in knowing you're not alone! I think a lot of people will feel the same, it's an experience though, try your best to enjoy it and maybe even meet some new people ( and of course sell some art !) Good luck, let me know how it goes!

By card reader, do you mean a credit card reading machine that allows customers to make payments?

    • @SketchedbySte

Hey, yeah that's what I mean :) just small low fee ones like the izettle or the paypal one, even the square space one, as examples.

@@SketchedbySte never knew that it’s that simple to get one, I came to your video for 1 thing and I found what’s even better. Thanks and best of luck. Should we meet one day at a comic con, I’ll make sure I tell you about this, I’m planning on starting this year

You were not allowed to bring doggo inside, right? Otherwise I think that'd bring more profit given how cute it is!

You realize you can make 100's of thousands on NFT's right? I left you a message about 6 months ago, never responded.

Admittedly I presumed it was spam as I have literally no idea what it means

NFTs are morally corrupt. They’re not for everyone.
