Hahahahahahahaha Rupert really did! The irony of him being deaf is not lost on me either haha - he's a sweet little man really though! Glad that he can make some cameos ;)
My Top 16 - 30 30. Rotting Christ - Pro Xristou 29. Ad Infinitum - Abyss 28. Devin Townsend - PowerNerd 27. Avneya - Road To I 26. Grand Magus - Sunraven 25. Múr - Múr 24. The Eternal - Skinwalker 23. Sgàile - Traverse The Bealach 22. Leprous - Melodies Of Atonement 21. Vola - Friend Of A Phantom 20. Thy Catafalque - XII: A Gyönyörũ Álmok Ezután Jönnek 19. Alcest - Les Chants de l' Aurore 18. Dawn Treader - Bloom & Decay 17. Witherfall - Sounds Of The Forgotten 16. Ubiquity - The Ascendant Travels Among The Stars
Some great choices here and some that I have completely overlooked as well! Rotting Christ and PowerNerd just didn't quite do it for me, I need to check out Ad Infinitum / Mur / The Eternal / Sgaile / Ubiquity and a lot more of them. However I did really like Alcest! I thought that was a great little record and loved Leprous too. Really great band. I've got a lot to get my teeth into with these so thanks for recommending them!
Great to watch this mate. As with myself, not all the albums in my list are metal. It is always enjoyable to see the enthusiasm for different music that you exude. Great music is great music, whatever the genre. It has been a difficult year indeed to pin down what to put in the list. There are some here that I definitely need to investigate (The Smile definitely being one of them). Time does not allow for listening to them all! Look forward to seeing the remainder of the countdown and thanks for being one of the best channels out there. Always a good day when you post something new.
Thanks so much Stuart! I think that's the thing, there was a point where I thought, hmmm maybe I should just stick to the Metal stuff here but then thought. At the end of the day, it's a list of my personal favourite records so why not include them! So The Smile was recommended to me be a friend of mine as was Nala Sinephro, absolutely fantastic records and likewise, I really, really appreciate all of the help and support that you show each of my videos. Means the world and it's never not appreciated. Also - loved your list mate! A good amount I need to get into haha
@@TheMetalTrisI have plenty to look at from the different lists I have seen including yours. I look forward to part two as I think we will have some more crossover and some more for me to investigate! Likewise for the encouagement in what I write! Thank you!
I grew up loving Entombed and Dismember, still listen to them. I just don't understand why I can't get into Gatecreeper, they should be one of my favorites.
I guess the thing is that even if they're meant to be similar at the end of the day, they are different bands aren't they! I really love Nails' last album YWNBOU but I think that this one that they put out this year was pretty unremarkable to be honest. Just one of them really! Maybe give them another go further down the line and see if your opinion might have changed :) I would also recommend Upon Stone as well, great band that released a record early in 2024!
Hey there Nige! Thanks so much for the kind words mate, I decided to change things up a little bit this year and include some of the albums that I might have put in previously but given them a caveat. There were just so many brilliant releases to come through this year that I wanted to make sure that I shone a light on as many of them as possible. Filming and editing the final video of the year this year today! Hopefully it'll be up soon!
Huuuuge kudos for Billie!! For me her album, Leprous, Ihsahn and Oranssi Pazuzu albums are the best records of 2024 - the only ones who crossed 1000 plays threshold proving their replay value!! Also love Wall Of Eyes by The Smile, but their second 2024 album - Cutouts - appeals to me even more, it's absolutely amazing!!
Oh thanks so much! Well the thing is I thought that I would just create a little bit on it's own for the other records that aren't as Metal but then I thought that it wasn't reflective of my taste personally so why not include them! I would have definitely included Ihsahn (however we now work together so I don't include artists I work with for conflict of interest - I did interview Ihsahn earlier this year before we started working together however!) but agree that Leprous and OP are brilliant records too. You know I didn't realise that The Smile had released a second album as well!? Love that. I'll definitely be spinning that over the Christmas period, I hope that you've got some lovely plans and will have part II of my videos ready to go hopefully today if not then tomorrow. Thanks for checking them out and for the kind words! It's hugely appreciated :)
@@TheMetalTris With Cutouts you're in for a treat - two gems from The Smile in one year - we're totally being spoilt!! I would also recommend to check out Empathogen by Willow - it's quite short but still amazing, definitely worth your time!! Out of non-metal albums also Magdalena Bay and Geordie Creep albums are worth attention!! Would also recommend Beth Gibbons' Lives Outgrown but not sure it's your jam. Oh, and Dark Rainbow by Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes is a great listen, in my opinion!!
2024 has been a mixed bag for me as well, and I am happy to just sit down and take this list in. I always appreciate how diverse your year-end list is, and from The Smile to Full of Hell, proves this point. I also think it's awesome that you're incorporating non-metal albums into your albums of the year rather than doing a roundup of your non-metal releases at the end. As I've done for the last few years, here is my first half of my favourite albums of 2024. Some are on the list because the album was enjoyable, while others are on the list because they evoke memories of a positive time during the year, mostly having an album on while I am either gaming or playing hockey with my son. I hope you find something to enjoy that you haven't heard! Also, I'm wondering if you are still planning to share a playlist of your favourite songs of the year as we discussed a few months back. Cheers! Always love the content, and see below: 31. Shellac: To All Trains 30. Suffer: Grand Canvas of the Aesthete 29. Red Rot: Borders of Mania 28. Vorga: Beyond the Palest Star 27. Sea of Consciousness: Sea of Consciousness 26. Chapel of Disease: Echoes of Light 25. Chain Code: Synthetic Outcomes 24. Manticora: Mycelium 23. Vitriol: Suffer & Become 22. Hippotraktor: Stasis 21. Celestial Season: Mysterium III 20. Spectral Wound: Songs of Blood and Mire 19. He was a God: Muckraker 18. Hamferð: Men Guðs hond er sterk 17. Lying Figures: Inheritance 16. Drownship: Tidal passages
Ahh thanks so much my friend. I always think that I'm actually not that diverse where it comes to some of the music compared to some of the people that I know but yes, when you mention The Smile to Full of Hell -that's a pretty drastic change haha! Well I just think when it comes to albums of the year, they are my favourite records of the year so why not have all different kinds of genres in there. I also agree that sometimes a record can become an album of the year if you're enjoying it lots and have an emotional connotation with it too. I have to say, as normal, I haven't heard of hardly any of these hahaha - Vitriol I have, Spectral Wound and Hamferd but the others are totally new to me haha so I had better get cracking! I'm going to get my second and final video of the year out if not today then tomorrow and yes! I was thinking of doing my playlist - thinking to do 30 songs or something like that - thanks for all of the support throughout the year and see you on the next video!
Hey there my friend! Thanks ever so much for the kind words. I know that normally I do a kind of, this isn't Metal section at the end but I just thought, screw it! Why not just include it all and just go from there you know? Appreciate the kind words, it seems that my taste is slowly diversifying haha!
Hell yeah! That's awesome, in all honesty, I wasn't going to include Billie / Marika / Green Day etc... because I was thinking that it should be a Metal list. However, my taste has been changing and I think that these records are reflective of that, so that's the reason that I decided to include them in the end you know? I'll be getting part II ready today and hopefully out later today / tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled!
So this is a record that a lot of people have been putting on their lists, I don't think that I have actually so I will definitely make sure that I give it a go before the end of the year. This is one of the things that I love the most about end of year lists is that you can see all of the records that you might have missed out on! What else have you been enjoying?
Loved hearing The Metal Cat in the background. He wanted in!

I just got the new MORK GRYNING CD.
I’m really thrilled about that, considering
I own every album by the band.

Hahaha I can neither confirm nor deny - thanks for checking out the list as well my friend, what are some of your favourites? I would love to know!

Really dug all the stuff you included that wasn't metal. I am big on instrumental stuff.
