Thanks for the recommendations! Hamferd and Concrete Winds definitely deserve more attention. The Ulcerate album does not push the right buttons in me, much like Deathspell Omega. Some of my favorites: Blaze of Perdition - Upharsin, Wolfbrigade - Life.Knife.Death, Arkona - Stella Pandora, My Dying Bride - A Mortal Binding, Necrophobic - In the Twilight Grey, Förgjord - Perkeleen Weri, Barathrum - Überkill, Horna - Nyx (Hymnejä yölle), True Black Dawn - of Thick Circling Shadows...

Been really nice to discover mgla, hauntologist and those bands on that label. Im starting to enjoy albums again. I like the new vulnus album on new standard elite. Straight up, no nonsense death metal
Finally someone sings the Concrete Winds praise. I feel like they were talked about when the album dropped but no one is mentioning them on their end of the year lists. A furious slab of music even though I love the sophomore album even more
Great charts, resonate with me a lot! One additional non-metal album of the year worth mentioning is On an Island by Sivert Høyem (the guy who sung Phoenix with Satyricon). Excellent singer-songwriter stuff.
Ulcerate is a must-see live. Had the pleasure of seeing them last month. If u would like them more deathspell-y, check out their Albums: everything is fire or of fracture and failure.

I do split my lists, one BM and one DM, but then I probably buy more music than you, hehe. Königreichssaal, Koldbrann and Djevel is 3 of my favourite BM releases this year. I can't get into Ulcerate. Grew up in NZ and I had their Coming of Genocide album and the hoodie at the time. Saw them with Deicide... Coming of Genocide is great but not a fan of their long, drawn out and quite frankly boring sound now. There's atmospheric and then there's being too atmospheric. Couldn't tell you one riff off any album apart from their first one...
@NorthernLycanthrope Been following them since the first album, and I like the newer stuff better, but it's all individual taste, as it should. I don't find them boring at all, but it took me a while to get into the new one, and it's a bit more straight forward than the previous. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Ulcerate was my top pick of 2024. Perhaps the darkest death metal album I've heard in quite some time.
