I was in 6th grade and I accidentally left it in my school uniform pants pocket one night. I forgot all about it and put the same pants on and went to school the next morning. It fell out of my pocket during math class...My buddy nudged me and looked down and right as I saw it and put my foot over it, so did my teacher! I had Victorinox knives since I was a kid and always considered it a tool and never a weapon. So I always had it on me. Few years ago, I had to go to City Hall in NYC so that my friends’ could get their marriage papers. I pulled out my flashlight, keys, and my clear gray classic Victorinox and placed them in the bin before walking through metal detection. And the security told me I couldn’t enter with it. It’s not an expensive knife but it was given to me by my late brother. We took a taxi here so I didn’t have my car to leave it in. I went outside, found this raised concrete wall with some plants in it. I was pretty discreet so that people didn’t realize I was hiding something there. The marriage papers took a little more than an hour. When we came out it was gone.

A Victorinox Waiter has been my EDC for at least 20 years. The mini screwdriver is perfect for tightening screws on my glasses. I’ve found the tweezers to be the best tool for removing ticks. I use the toothpick almost every day and it is still as good as new. The corkscrew is very handy when loosening knots. The flathead screwdriver is a little rounded and bent after all the prying. The plastic scales are so worn that the metallic logo inlay is protruding. A have several other smaller and bigger Victorinox knives, but the waiter is the preferred EDC for me.
Silver Alox Pioneer X is my EDC. I also keep a handyman on me for work, but the beefier blade and tools on the pioneer, and the awl make it the most useful SAK I've ever owned

I have a Tinker that I got on a trip to Switzerland in 1987. I have bought a couple more Tinkers over the years but I still have the first one and it still looks new.
I'm a BIG SAK fan, I've owned a spartan and tinker for the last 25 years, great knives during my working career, in the metal trades. Kudos too SAK for great knifes
I’ve used the compact the super tinker and the huntsman. I currently carry the huntsman and my edc benchmade triage. The combination of tools on both make anything I need to do possible. Love both.
Love the Super Tinker. I have one for each day pack. My EDC on the keychain is the tiny Manager. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve used that pen! And the tiny pair of scissors should not be underestimated. I’ve actually trimmed a LEATHER BELT with them.
I have been carrying a Swiss army knife for almost 3 decades. Victorknox make really good knives and they are very affordable. Anytime I give a knife as a first pocket knife its my go to. Got my first one at 12. Wasnt my first pocket knife but it was my first quality tool.
Zac is slowly turning into Ben. Clean hands, perfect hair, golf shirt, he might even have a blue knife. The replacement for the old Zac seems pretty cool too
I got start on swiss army knives not long ago and bought a super tinker. I feel in love with it especially for my profession. I am a eletrican and my favorite too on my sak is the parcial hook it is great for pulling wire with pull line.
My favorite Swiss army knife is the fieldmaster, is very useful as a edc knife. Their woodsaw is unbeatable. a big hug from México. i'm a big fan of your channel, saludos amigos....
My favorite one by now is tbe explorer. But I also love the fieldmaster and the huntsman. The spartan is another classic one that should be the first SAK of everyone.
I always carry the deluxe tinker because of the pliers (used them the other day to take apart a hot coffee percolator) and the scissors (used them last week to cut a piping bag full of chocolate ganache and today to cut flower stems). My father always carries his explorer which he got on his honeymoon.
When I turned 18, my father gave me the Swisschamp. It has all the tools you'll ever need, and them some. Way too much to have on my EDC, but I carried it on all my road trips (remember those?). My girlfriend just gave me a Spartan (like the Tinker, with a cork screw instead of the phillips) as a christmas git and I love it. Is my new EDC knife.
I’ll be honest, Blade HQ’s customer service is awesome but I have no problem admitting their RUclips presence has also had a significant positive impact on my patronage of their online store. ...It’s killing my bank account and budget though lol. Not only are y’all enabling my knife addiction, y’all are pretty much the sole facilitators and biggest instigators of it 😂. But seriously, I love y’all’s videos!
That statement he makes does not make any sense. even tinker and super tinker is different in so many ways from compact. Compact is slimmer than super tinker and has different tool-set. climber is closest one to compact, but without plus scales does not contain pen, and compact does have that combination tool in place on small blade and bottle and can opener. Compact even has nail file on multipurpose hook.
I have found the perfect thing to clean them - Muc-Off. It just melts dirt away. My Swiss Champ XLT is now shiny throughout and looks like it did when new.
Bos I store a mini screwdriver in there, also I do drink when I go camping so yes it’s handy for me. No idea why it’s Philips though, Europe is pozi now.
IMHO The evolution 14 is the sleeper for most versatile 3 layer in the whole line for a city/ suburb carry. If you’re in a rush and you only have time to grab the wallet in one hand and keys/ one thing in the other, an evo 14 has the most bases covered. I’ve had it as my main tool/ backup blade off and on for around a decade. My tally for classic models confiscated from my keys is 7.
I've somehow managed to keep the same classic sd for 5 years now and I still have the original tweezers and toothpick that it came with. And I also carry a farmer alox
The Climber is not a Compact with Philips screwdriver, it's a Super Tinker with Philips. Super Tinker Climber Tinker Spartan Tinker Small Tourist Field Master Huntsman These are the 91mm equivalents I know of (in terms of Philips instead of corkscrew).
I have a SD that my late grandpa had engraved for me. I have a 16 year old Cybertool I bought when I did PC repair. I still use the Cybertool for around the house jobs.
From 2011 until 2017 i have with me my sd blue classic as a keychain pocket knife. From oct 2018 until today, i carry a huntsman. Never leave without it. :)
The last couple days ive been carrying a Silver/Transparent Huntsman around my neck and its amazing! The size/weight is barely noticable and with a quick detach clip it allways handy and acessible and it doesnt feel like someone took a dookie in your pocket!
Cool vid! I think this video will probably be more accurate as "Top 5 EDC choices for Victorinox in 2019". Personally, some of the most iconic models are not even included in the video, such as Swisschamp, Farmer or Soldier. Btw, the difference between a Climber and a Compact is not just a scissors. Compact is currently the only SAK in 91mm lineup that has a combo tool, while Climber has what SAK enthusiasts called the openers layer(can + bottle openers). And Compact also has a Plus scale which host a mini pen.
Super Tinker and Compact are both great knives. Compact was the one I carried with me regularly . . . until I acquired an Alox Cadet. The Cadet is great for EDC at the office -- it more or less disappears in my pocket. I miss the scissors big time, though. So, that's why I put a Mini-champ on my keychain. My favorite outside the office is the Mountaineer (which is apparently hard to find in USA). So, that's my top five: Super Tinker, Compact, Alox Cadet, Mini-champ, and Mountaineer. (I have ten more, however, and each of them eventually gets some attention.)
Great video. My EDC is the Swiss Champ with the sapphire scales . It's a multitool geek's dream...why choose what tool to have when you can have it all...
My First VICTORINOX that I've EDC is the COMPACT. It is still my Go-To pocket knife/tool. As a Logistician, the Scissors (Cutting Papers) , Pen (Signing Receipts or Documents) , and Knife (opening mail/boxes/letters) are the tools I need the Most.
Just today, I dumped my 5 year test carry of the Cadet for the Super Tinker. The Cadet just didn't provide enough needed tool and the Super Tinker fits the bill without being too big, too big means something I would leave at home and not in my pocket for EDC. For me a deal breaker is that cork screw, I need the philips on my knife, but I would never use the cork screw away from home. The philips gets used every week at least once or twice so I'm so happy to have this Super Tinker back in my pocket again. One of these, not sure what they called it back in the day but my very first knife of any kind was a S.A. knife like the tinker, it set me back 10 dollars back in 1972. I keep my Leatherman in my briefcase for more tools I need but don't want to carry. Check out the super tinker, I think you'll see it's the best choice and not too big.
I love my stayglow climber. The parcel carrier is amazing cos I carry parachord on me to help tie and bundle things together. And the cork screw is amazing to help untie knots.. I chose this over the super tinker cos of the corkscrew. Thanx zac for your video with the SAK collector!
They are amazing knives I have one that is over 50 years old and it still works perfectly. I have everything from spyderco, zt, benchmade. Victorinox is my favorite.
I backpack a Ranger everyday, all day, and it has never let me down. My father has a Hunter, amd he mostly uses it when he goes hiking (for hiking I have a Leatherman Sidekick). These things have never let me down. I'm actually planning to get a Hunter Pro M Alox for pocket carry.
I carry either a camper or a tinker....... on some days depending on if wine is on the agenda I may carry the camper.....if I’m tooling around on the cars then the tinker will be in my pocket......either way the classic SD is always hooked onto my key ring. Planning to add the bug out to my pocket once I get funds rolling in again ...... Covid had me pretty messed up for the last year. Thanks for the awesome videos!
If my crotch is covered, I'm carrying a Tinker. I've gone snorkeling with them. I cleared a fouled propeller with one of them. I've filleted fish with them. I've given away more of them than I've owned. Simply the best EDC multitool ever invented. Glad to see that someone finally recognizes that.
I've carried a Victorinox Recruit for about six months. I got it to replace a Tinker that I had lost. Think I'm gonna go back to the Tinker as it is slightly larger and fits my hand better. I also miss the Phillips screwdriver. They are definitely the best and most useful of any knife out there due to the quality control. I also like Case knives but they are very inconsistent as far as blade tension when they are opened. Some are good and tight when opening and some open too easily which can allow the blade to close on your fingers with minimal pressure. Victorinox for me forever.
I have carried a alox cadet for 8 years, I gave it away recently and replaced it with a alox farmer. It is always in my work bag. I prefer my leather man juice but I still use it often.
A climber is a super tinker with a corkscrew. Unfortunately, they don’t make a compact with a phillips you have to get it modded. I recently built a tsa safe Swiss Army knife and each time I go through a check point I have to explain it to three or four different tsa agents and have them go through it to make sure there isn’t a blade on it. So far I haven’t lost any, except to the void between my seat and my console.
i was a cub master for 5 years, and the can opener on my Tinker SAK opened at least a couple hundred cans of chilies and tomatoes for campfire cook outs i still carry a Tinker or a spartan to this day .
the swiss champ is my knife the last 22years(edc,mountaineering,climbing,armywork ect),has any tool for any situation because you never know..and yes i have classic model.it was my first knife 1987.
Love the video!!! Have carried my Stay Glo Victorinox Climber forever it feels like!! Its basically a Super Tinker with the corkscrew! I love that with just a little sunlight, my knife glows in the dark and the bright color always helps it stay visible if it falls out of the pocket. This model is the only other model that Victorinox makes with Stay Glo scales. The other is the Rescue Tool!!
I have for a long time, since I was a boyscout, thought that SAKs only are for kids and MacGyver 😀 But recently missed the awesome scissors they have, no other MT comes close IMHO. So I bought me a new SAK, had my eys on a Compact, but ended up with a Super Tinker in black. Put it in my pocket, and then waited for it to prove it's place. Well, I didn't think it, but now, just a few weeks later, I feel naked without it! They have really improved the tweezers to! I have always had a one hand opened knife before as edc, but now I must have the SAK to. Wanna guess what my pants weight? 😀
It's a toss-up between the Cadet or MiniChamp Alox for me. Those are the best bang for your buck, pound for pound SAKs out there. 🤘🏻 Also, good to see an appearance from Kyle!
for 10 years I carry Victorinox Forester with liner lock. I prefer them because they have the same sturdy tools a longer blade and a lock. Mostly I use the can opener and the tweezers.
Evogrip s18 is current fav carry... Yellow for easy locate. However my alltime choice is the retired Harvester... A farmer with can opener replaced by a pruner (hawkbill) blade. Draw cuts is where the pruner blade excels, with straight blade, saw and awl allows for most variety in my environments.
Explorer, most used are the scissors and the proper grip Philips head screw. I have the super tinker but I got a hard time using the Philips screwdriver.
The Victorinox Tinker is the only tool that I need for my edc aside from my phone, wallet and flashlight. The Tinker is both my multitool and pocket knife.
I've owned a Huntsman for over 30 years, plus Boy Scout branded models when I was younger. I once used the saw blade to retrieve a pet parrot who had flown into a tree and was way out on a 1" branch.
I usually pocket carry the Hiker (essentially the Tinker with the addition of a wood saw) or the Spartan with modded plus-scale and mini screwdriver. But the Explorer with handy magnifying lens is often close at hand.
I have the tinker now. My mom took my super tinker from me when I was 7 or 8 years old. I had it for all of about a week, and she seen me use all of the other tools on the super tinker before I used the actual knife. Long story short, she thought it was super awesome until the knife came open and I got it taken away. -15 years later and I still havent found another super tinker in my local stores.
Idk what model it was but my Swiss Army knife had a can opener and flat head so I took the can opener and ground an edge on it and now I use it to carve spoons and the can opener function still works
In my personal opinion the SAK is best carried with a pocket clip key ring. Like the keysmart pocket clip. It makes it carry so much better. I carry a Super Tinker almost daily. Rock on guys 🤘🏽
@@93DracoX I looked into the key smart pocket clip as well as the Victorinox clip and chain shortly after leaving the message. Think I'm gonna dig it. Thanks again

Thanks for watching!
BTW the climber doesn't have a 3D Phillips screwdriver, you mean the super tinker.
Sorry, nothing tops the Fieldmaster. And the so-called "parcel hook" is for lifting a bail handle pot off the fire.
No its literally a parcel hook. But yes you can use it for that
Fieldmaster is just a huntsman but instead of a corcscrew you have a phillips
Huntsman is better.
Who uses Philips screws?
@@GadgetMart Who uses a corkscrew?
Bos I store a mini screwdriver in there, also I do drink when I go camping so yes it’s handy for me.
No idea why it’s Philips though, Europe is pozi now.
Tinker is a must have. With the Philips head and a couple of flat heads I rarely have to head back to my toolkit for small jobs and easy fixes.
People now a days are all, “I miss Kurt.” And I’m still all, “I miss Austin.”
I've somehow managed to keep the same classic sd for 5 years now and I still have the original tweezers and toothpick that it came with. And I also carry a farmer alox
The Climber is not a Compact with Philips screwdriver, it's a Super Tinker with Philips.
Super Tinker Climber
Tinker Spartan
Tinker Small Tourist
Field Master Huntsman
These are the 91mm equivalents I know of (in terms of Philips instead of corkscrew).
I have a SD that my late grandpa had engraved for me. I have a 16 year old Cybertool I bought when I did PC repair. I still use the Cybertool for around the house jobs.
I had a Classic confiscated at an Iron Maiden concert back in 1998 😒
And that security guard has probably been carrying it all this time 😉
Thats not very metal
Cut paper? U should totally do a ream of paper dressed as dwight's shrute's Assistant to the regional messenger.
😂 Awesome idea!
I love Swiss Army knives. I had a black Tinker that I had in my pocket for years. What I didn't like was the plastic handle scratched very easy.
Living in MN, I’ve found that the parcel hook works well as a lace puller for hockey skates.
This is talking watches but for knives, absolutely fantastic
Whenever I watch one of these videos I find myself humming the song all day😂
I have for a long time, since I was a boyscout, thought that SAKs only are for kids and MacGyver 😀
But recently missed the awesome scissors they have, no other MT comes close IMHO.
You have to have a SAK knife while watching MacGyver.
We need Andrew on more videos! Zac is my man, but Andrew is just as cool! Great duo.
It's a toss-up between the Cadet or MiniChamp Alox for me. Those are the best bang for your buck, pound for pound SAKs out there. 🤘🏻
Also, good to see an appearance from Kyle!
for 10 years I carry Victorinox Forester with liner lock. I prefer them because they have the same sturdy tools a longer blade and a lock. Mostly I use the can opener and the tweezers.
Should I grab huntsmen or a super tinker? I like the sleekness of the tinker but I am also grabbing a swiss soldier knife aswell.
I got the SWA compact because of Blade HQ.
I usually pocket carry the Hiker (essentially the Tinker with the addition of a wood saw) or the Spartan with modded plus-scale and mini screwdriver. But the Explorer with handy magnifying lens is often close at hand.
Andrew is really growing on me! Nice work guys.
I carry the Electrician. 2 layer Alox with a sheepsfoot, a pry tool and scraper/pick/awl.
Just bought my first SAK. Pioneer X. Pocket slip from hitch and timber coming soon
Super Tinker all day every day for almost 10 years now. Has all the tools I use regularly!
I love my rambler, i carried it for six years in my coin or watch pocket. Great help with bad fingernails and the caplifter is gold.
The Rambler is an awesome choice 👍
In my personal opinion the SAK is best carried with a pocket clip key ring. Like the keysmart pocket clip. It makes it carry so much better. I carry a Super Tinker almost daily. Rock on guys 🤘🏽
That's damn slick! Thanks for dropping this info!
Djadis 187 It changed my SAK game altogether and I wanted to spread the love
@@93DracoX I looked into the key smart pocket clip as well as the Victorinox clip and chain shortly after leaving the message. Think I'm gonna dig it. Thanks again
Djadis 187 NP enjoy!
