When I was building it, the problem I encountered was it wouldn’t let me put the exterior stairs if I had already built the patio. So I resized the patio where I wanted to put the stairs (I made sure the patio wouldn’t touch the grids where I wanted to put the stairs), put the stairs in then extend the patio back to cover the grids underneath the stairs. Try it and I hope it solves the issue.
