I plant the left over food and droppings to produce edible plants and seeds for my birds. It is good to know that their fresh food has been grown without any pesticides and it helps to save on land fill.

Yes! I throw the uneated food outside & my outside birds love it! Also, when I change their water I use it water my indoor plants. Sometimes I end up with micro greens that my birdies love

Loved watching your tips on cleaning. We only have a shower so I probably won't use it. I have a large flight cage like yours and I will pay more attention to cleaning the bars and toys. I put the paper over the grate because I don't think walking on that grate is comfortable on their feet. I liked all of your suggestions. Thanks Donna

Wow, great cleaning tips. Here in Southwest Florida, temps are down many times to 44 F (7 C), so it's too cold to take the cages outside. Never thought of bringing the cage into the shower area, but now I can, especially with the moveable shower head. I like the idea of placing multiple layers of paper, so that each day, a soiled sheet can be removed. As always, your videos are great. Glad that Monty had a great birthday celebration; he looks so good also.

Thanks for sharing. I was afraid to use soap because I was worried it might soak into the wood. The sponge pad is a good tool. I need to buy one. I've been using the blue Scotch pads/sponges.
I clean them up once a month, but I do a deep clean every 6 months. I have a portable power washer to blast off the crud. I use my steam cleaner to sanitize and loosen up the stuff that won't come off. Then blast it again with the power washer after I scrub the cages down. Then I use the leaf blower to get the water out of the hard to dry spots. Then hand dry it. It takes like 30 minutes to do both cages (36in x36in x48in).
Hiya Donna, i just like the way you do everything .I might buy one of the sponges you use.I was buying toothbrushes but they do not always scrub thevway your sponges do.They are really only good for me to get into corners when my bird eats Pomegranates and blueberries etc.I use straight white vinegar on perches
Also If like to add that my cage comes with a rolling cart,my apt is carpeted,so I purchased a piece of plywood, measured to cover area I needed covered,then ordered the same size computer chair mat to cover the plywood then place my cage/ cart on top of the plywood/ mat which catches any gallon debris which I then hand vac & every eve I do a quick easy bleach water mopping of that area,wala!!😃👍

I also dump the used seeds & pellets outside for the outdoor birds to eat. :D The dirty news paper goes in the garbage.
I put some left over seeds from their bowls outside but never thought about dumping the trays outside, thanks for the tip.
@@Loveofpets You're welcome. :D I learned that tip from my Aunty who does that when cleaning out her birds. I think the wild birds are happy to have any kind of food. Even partially eaten millet has gone outside, along with whatever millet seeds are left in the bag.

I'd like to add, that I placed a small thin tension rod in my hallway,so when I'm wiping my cage down in the morn ,I open the top of my cage & my 4 Canaries & 2 Society Finches exit the cage & patiently perch on the tension rod I put 8n in hallway across the room FYI ,I keep a row of paper towel directly under the tension bar.It is my experience that my birds only make droppings while sitting/perched.They do not poop while in flight😃👍
How do you use virkon s? Do you spray it to cage and all the materials like toys? Should we wash it afterwards to make the disinfectant go away?
I do have a question. I have budgies I want to switch them to fresh chop and off seed only. Been working on it 3 months now with no luck. Any advice to get them switch over. All under a year old

I don't know if you'll read it but I've a big macaw cage stainless steel.. my vendor couldn't make a cage with pull put bottom grille so instead welded it in cage...now I can't remove it to clean it and my hand and arm can't reach the insides from bottom

Wood is hard to clean. Wipe with a cloth using vinegar and water.

Is not easy to clean especially big aviary cage I have canaries and I put them in single cages with seed catcher is definitely much easier to clean little cages then aviary I kept my birds in the aviary until they learn how to flight tonight I separated them took me 5 hours and Tomorrow still need to do some job not over yet not easy at all but ones I clean the birds I feel beautiful I sit and enjoy watching them give them some cucumber 🥒 they love it it’s just hobby
