This is the first video I have seen of Dr. Youn. The fact that he looked at an X-ray and said "I would be the wrong Surgeon for this procedure" makes me far more comfortable in listening to what he has to say. I would rather a Doctor who knows their limits than one who claims to be able to do it all.
From what I have seen of Dr. Youn, and I haven’t been watching him for very long myself, he is very humble and kind. He also cares more about his patient’s wellbeing than making money from them. (Despite what the format of his personal ads may suggest. I genuinely don’t know why they scripted his ads to make him seem so, I dunno, snake-oil-salesman-y? I think it might be a generational thing. Regardless…) He’s really knowledgeable and caring and he even rescues senior dogs.
I've had severe, weird health problems my entire adult life, seen enough docs for about 50 normal people (turns out I have a rare genetic condition, Acute Intermittent Porphyria ). Dr Youn is my dream doctor; he's very knowledgeable yet doesn't have an ego the size of Jupiter. He seems to truly care about his patients & is compassionate, I can't picture him gaslighting, being sneeringly dismissive, calling a patient crazy &/or stupid for making up weird symptoms & wasting his time all things that have happened to me more than once. He has a sense of humor. He can actually say the 3 rarest words to come out of a doctor's mouth: "I don't know." I read his first book, which even if you cut it back 90%, he's still a wonderful person. I desperately wish I could find a physician who had 10% of his wonderful characteristics
what's heartbreaking is that i have a similar issue - not with the deformed toes but due to a prior reconstructive surgery i have a huge muscle mass on my right foot that makes it nearly impossible to find shoes that fit - and i contacted a podiatrist/orthopedic surgeon and they told me to call a plastic surgeon because they don't do debulking for "aesthetic" reasons.
I can't imagine walking with that foot every day! My flat feet are already causing me a lot of pain and they are still "normal" sized feet... Hopefully that operation improved her quality of life!
@maureenconnolly9734 yeah I'm going to the doctor for supporting inlays tomorrow! I went 2 weeks ago already but the staff at the store said my doctor prescribed the wrong inlays for me so I have to go get a new prescription 😅 Glad to hear you found something that helped!

I know shoes can be specially made for an individual. I think it was 2005, I went to a shoemaker while visiting my sister on vacation, because I wanted to buy a sandal with a full back for my paralyzed left leg. Although he had a store, he also made shoes for people who had problems with their feet That shoemaker discovered that my paralyzed leg was 2 inches shorter then my right leg and two sizes smaller then my right. He told me, I should have it checked out when I returned home He made each shoe especially for each foot, with the left shoe built up 2 inches and two sizes smaller. In 2005, it cost around $900.00. It is still expensive for me to buy shoes because I have to buy two pairs of orthopedic shoes to accommodate each foot, I have to have my left shoe built up and I now wear a leg brace which must be attached to the shoe. Although buying footwear is very expensive but it is worth it as I live life to the fullest.
That clip of the surgeon operating with his mask exposing his nostrils really put me off! Hopefully it wasn’t a real surgery because he’d be breathing all his bacteria down that huge conk into his patient’s open wound.
Masks are to stop droplets from the surgeons mouth, getting into surgical sight. So, nose exposure is not a huge concern unless they have a runny nose.

This looks painful and coukd take a toll of a person mind. I wonder if her condition and pain and because she cannot exercise much is the reason why she is overweight. Not judgibg but also thinking if perhaps food and weight is a factor that could help reduce her condition
Less weight on her feet would probably hurt less but it wouldn't cure it. It's also pretty difficult to make money, exercise, shop and cook when mobility is so severely restricted, making healthy food choices more limited. Chronic pain is also linked to depression and that can play into food choice, its a viscous cycle when you are chronically ill. So helping her foot problems would probably help her lose weight morso than weight would help her feet get better. But even if she was underweight feet like these need treatment so ultimately it probably wouldn't change the treatment plan much if at all at least for the initial stages. It could also be that her condition is affecting more of her body than we are shown and that is causing her to look overweight or make her look more overweight than she actually is.

For me, it makes no sense and is distracting. I see this sometimes and assume this is production content RUclips provides creators, but if it's not the actual people involved in the story it's adding confusion and distraction. I think it's just unnecessary and takes away from the story.
