44/48 pts Lost 1/6 cl games Trophy in the bag. Perspective is needed I think. Hectic winter schedule and a game with injuries and sickness, was always going to be tough Lets beat the well and pick up the momentum again
Couldn’t disagree with stevie more tbh. Go and look at the final last week and see how long CCV and trusty were holding onto the ball. It was actually incredible to watch. CCV (who’s is an unbelievable defender) was holding onto the ball for ages in that game. No fan of Welsh or scales tbh, but they were the least of our problems yesterday. The midfield and forward line were horrendous and have been for weeks. Hamish says it’s just one of those days, and he’s right to a certain degree. Problem for me is, we are having far too many of these days! That’s 3 draws in our last 3 games, and not scored in 2 of them. We are far too passive on the ball from the backline to the forwards. Nobody can argue we are sitting in a great position, but it’s a worrying pattern we are seeing recently. We have lost our intensity and players look like they are going through the motions. Our back up players in general aren’t up to it, and when our big players are struggling to, this is what u get. Kyogo McGregor hatate to name a few, have been abysmal for the past month or so.
I agree with you. CCV took an age on it in the final. Trusty also. But in general, on their day, CCV and Trusty are a lot quicker. Dont know what is going on just now though. Midfield is really needing to dominate for more than just 15/20 mins atm.
"3 draws in our last 3 games...." This is an example of the sort of pant wetting insanity I am on about. 3 draws? One was a cup final (a cup final we actually won btw!) One was a Champions league away game ( a competition that we have a lamentable away record in) One was a tricky away game in horrible windy conditions. None of those fixtures are "gimmes" and yet here we are, toys out the pram time!
Not just in the final, CCV has been like that for weeks, especially in the Brugge game. McGregor also has to take more responsibility of getting the ball forward instead of just laying it off to the centre backs.
I'd love to know what people were expecting when they saw the team line up, saw the weather and knowing what Jim Godwin's game plan would be. Was anyone actually expecting a 10/10 performance under these circumstances? The one downside to Celtic having pretty much unbroken domestic dominance for the last 10-12 years (wall to wall doubles & trebles etc....) is that it has produced a subset of Celtic fans, who simply cannot handle even the most minor of setbacks such as a 0-0 draw away to the team fifth in the table. It's not even a generational thing. It'd be easy to blame the younger fans, who only really know success, but there are plenty of these types of fans in the 50+ age category also. We're the current holders of all three domestic trophies We're unbeaten in the league this season We're in a promising position to progress in the Champions League But we drew 0-0 at Tannadice on a wet & windy December afternoon- MELTDOWN!! God help these people if we actually lose a game or two
@JonesyJones-s3b I wasn't talking about them I probably didn't make that clear enough. I'm talking about the general response in comments sections, forums, WhatsApp chats and so on
Don't get complacent, this has been coming, not playing well, 2 players costing 20mil don't start. How Valle doesn't start ahead of Taylor is ridiculous. Hatate needs dropped
I see the Daily Ranger (Record) saying Rangers back in the race as it’s only 9 points yet they said it was over after 7? Ah well I suppose they’ve got to pander to their readers…we’ve lost 4 league goals …
We are in a pass the ball back mode. We need players to be more positive and turn and attack defenders. Palma beat his man twice in his 1st 5 minutes then never tried after that. McGregor had much more space in this game but didn’t little with it.
It looks like ever since Zagrebs tatics SPL clubs have used the same against us & how we have under performed. Tatics - let them have the ball, knowing we will pass the ball back the defence all in about 25 mins of the game itself, keep McGregor, Reo quiet, wingers wont do much & their wingers may have a off day. Never mind when your 2 strikers have scored all in about 10 goals this season. We need to change it up before we may slip up again before this "Awk we are still 9 clear" to maybe after Jan maybe 4-6 clear
Welsh far too slow. Looked "OK" yesterday because Dundee Utd posed zero attacking threat. His last game against St Mirren, who do have an attacking threat, was such a disaster he should have been sold immediately.
As i said on tcw. You can't throw tomatoes at guys who have had little game time except for windy days on wet pitches while the usual starters miss all the chances.
I'm pretty certain Rodgers knows Yang & Palma are not long term Celtic players That is why, when Kuhn, Maeda & Forrest were all fit, we almost never saw either of them bar the odd 15-20 mins sub appearances in games that were already won. But yesterday both Kuhn & Forrest were out, so we were always going to see at least one of Yang/Palma. This doesn't mean Rodgers rates them or thinks they're good enough. Having to turn to Yang/Palma is a symptom of a bigger issue. The summer 2023 transfer business was an absolute shambles and we are still feeling the effects of it. Furthermore we do not produce enough homegrown talent through the club's academy system and so we often end up taking a punt on "project" players like Yang, Kwon, Holm etc.... Yang isn't good enough but Forrest is out for 6 weeks confirmed and Kuhn may well be out for a game or two, so we're going to be seeing more of Yang heading in to January until such times as we sign a quality winger AND Kuhn/Forrest are back fit. Then and only then, will Yang be moved on and even that is assuming we can find him a club. Anyway the point is, we all know Yang isn't the answer but there is absolutely nothing we can do about that until at least January 1st. He's going to feature in our next two games at least, so we have two choices. We can throw a temper tantrum about it or we can accept the situation we find ourselves in and get behind the guy.
Infact go and watch our established CBs in the Zagreb hibs Aberdeen and Brugge games to. Far far to long on the ball at the back over the last 5/6 weeks
As you say these games happen and that's how it is. Never can take anything for granted was a tough game tough conditions etc. if Kyogo had slipped that one away it was job done. He didn't and that's that, we learn from this. HH 🍀
It's worrying that when Kuhn is off it/injured, we have absolutely no creativity on the pitch. Hatate hasn't been giving anything positive at all past few games in a goalthreat sense, and other than those two who is going to make chances for the team? Bit worrying imo, we have a severe lack of creativity when playing against a passive, mid/low-block setup.
System needs changed to upset opposition's undoubted recent tactics in the short term til Kuhn etc. return otherwise it's just going to be groundhog day. 'Let the ball do the work' should be the maxim rather than constantly stopping it like Taylor and Welsh and making life so easy for opponents.
Too many changes with inferior replacements. New players needed in January to have a quality bench as this sort of piss poor performance is happening every time we have a few changes from the best 11.
@@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. Do you not understand that the stands provide some protection? It might have been 50mph blowing down the Tay, it wasn't 50mph inside a semi sheltered stadium.
@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. it's still got a reasonable enough sized stand in regards to what the prevailing wind was. I'm sure it was windy inside on the pitch, but you don't understand physics if you think it was 50mph at pitch level.
I think the team looks tired and the changes didn’t help or make it better we’ve played a lot more games than united and yet still dominate but couldn’t put the ball in the net and most of the teams we play have everybody behind the ball in there own half witch is horrible and horrendously boring to watch it’s not entertaining ☘️🍀

Any footage available to see if Kuhn sustained the injury against Rangers?
Welsh had an okay game, but I find him so frustrating when he puts his foot on the ball and kills it at every pass, slowing everything down.
As i said on tcw. You can't throw tomatoes at guys who have had little game time except for windy days on wet pitches while the usual starters miss all the chances.
