Thankfully, my children eat very healthily as adults, and my granddaughter, almost 7, is very conscious about what she eats and whether it’s “healthy stuff or sugar stuff that can make you sick”.

Just stand your ground and tell your family and friends firmly that you do not want them to feed them grains and sugar because of their health. If they don't want to comply, not even for the health's sake of the children, draw your conclusions! That might sound harsh but the health of your children is more important than some stupid unfounded food pyramid/compass bullshit!

I just always told my kids those are special treat times. They weren’t something that we always did like most of the kids in the neighborhood who had dessert every single night. We never had dessert after dinner. No sugar. And sodas were only special treat when we went out and that wasn’t often. Just teach kids how to eat right and then they want to. Because they like being smarter about food in their peers.

Later on when they go to school they won't be eating crap like most of the other kids. Establishing good food habits and choices will set them up for the rest of their lives. People that don't understand this are ignorant. I am 68 years old and I see how my food choices have given me better health than a lot of my friends.

You are doing a terrific job teaching them eating for health, but not forbidding them from foods you don’t eat. That would only make them want it all the time! They are learning to self-regulate their appetites which today too many kids can’t! Fabulous parenting on your part!🥰

I give my kids (7 & 10) the unfiltered truth about the dangers of certain foods. We have taught them to look at ingredients to the point where they try to outdo each other on product knowledge.
Our two young boys have definitely been influenced by my ketogenic/low carb diet which is fantastic.
However, the challenge is when they go to school where all the provided food is absolutely filled w/junk.
We have them pack as often as possible as a result and the other kids think they’re weird!
When I chaperone field trips I see 99% of the other kids bring nothing but Pringles, Cheetos, Capri Sun, and the list goes on and on.
It’s terrible and you can clearly see why so many 7-10 year olds are already obese.
    It’s mind blowing to me!
You’re doing the right things w/the kids and thank you for sharing.
    Start positive habits early!! 🙌🏻

My kids are 23 and 20 and they never once ate at a fast food restaurant ever, not even once, nor did they ever eat any junk food at home or parties. I got criticized for "depriving" them. I'm like, depriving them of what? Diabetes? Heart disease? Yeah, I'm such a bad mom. Now that they're adults (they still live with us thankfully) they still eat super healthy. We were always the "weird" family. But I wear that label proudly. The first 20 years of a child's life is when their bodies are developing and growing. That is the most important time to eat the healthiest. It will set them up for a lifetime of health and good habits. (I'm also a nutritionist and herbalist)

Neisa, I am a researcher completing a doctorate as an early intervention practitioner in Ireland. I study early brain development in Trinity College Dublin, and I know the damage that sugar and processed foods can do to a young developing brain (andan adult brain too). Like you, I am not anti-sugar, I just wish I could help parents understand the effect sugar and processed foods have on a substance in the brain called Myelin. Being a nurse you probably already know how important healthy Myelin is for brain and behavioral wellbeing. I can clearly "see" (evidenced from their bright eyes, healthy complexion, curiosity and prosocial interactions - plus many more indicators, too numerous to mention here) that you and Dr Berry's children are thriving. In addition I am also thriving since discovering Dr Berry's channel (he saved me from GERD when my consultant was telling me to eat wheat and rye bread!! 😢). The difference between you and a lot of parents (including my own parents and my relatives) is that food was used as a "reward" in my youth. I am 76 years old and just recently quit a part time job as a cashier in a small town convenience store because it was really bothering me to be a part of what the kids are buying and especially what parents are feeding their kids. I know I was watching children on their way to being type 2 by the time they are 30 years old.

That has to be depressing to witness! I know I glance at shopping carts when I'm in the store line. Sorry if I'm being judgmental but it does make me sad

You look beautiful today! I think it's important to continue to talk about what we are eating and what we are feeding our kids that's how we learn about nutrition. I wish I would have known this information when I was raising my kids I would have done a better job! Thankfully my kids are grown and they have done the research and they're the ones who told me about KETO and Dr. Berry and I have been following every since! Keep up the good work...Good bless ❣️

I love you and Ken. Two honest, caring humans. You both have a huge generosity of spirit, and commit so much time to the community. People need to stay in their own lanes. They don’t walk in your shoes and quite simply, they are not raising your kids!! Do you boo…and if they don’t like your content…keep on walking with a quiet mouth.
Doing a fabulous job you two are, making a conscious contribution to all who love to listen. 🙏💕

When I had my boys I let them eat processed foods. Cereal, etc as long as they were organic and didn’t have any horrible ingredients. I was close but not close enough. Wish I knew what I know now. Your an amazing mom. I’ve got them off of 80% of their stuff in a year. Now working on the last 20% but not pushing them I am and educating them about nutrition. I want them to make their own decisions so they don’t have a bad relationship with food as you said. They are 8 and 10. I am very proud of how far we have come as a family to get healthier in a year. Thanks to you and your hubby for educating the world. ❤😊

(she is adopted and im older and wiser now) my first borns were subjected to my inexperienced self... I thought giving them a vast selection of sweet cereal proved my love ❤...thank you for inspiring me...and the next generation

I fed my children the way I was fed -- 3 meals a day with no snacks. Dessert only on special occasions. All 4 were very good eaters and would eat whatever I fixed. I just wish I had known more about nutrition for them as well as myself! I think you're doing a fantastic job!!

I am so thankful for mindful teaching of your Littles the better nutrition for them. I wish this would have been taught to me. It has taken in and out of diets to figure this out for myself. 3 years on Low carb diet for me, but now I'm more Ketovore.

I am always amazed at people questioning other people about the raising of their children, agree with you. I don't judge other Mom's, we all are doing the best we know and that we can afford or physically do. Your children are beautiful, smart and it isn't any of our business how you choose to feed and raise them. Kudos to you!

Looking back at my childhood, my parents raised me and my siblings on a whole food diet. Breakfast was at six, dinner was done by six and if you asked for more food after dinner, you were told that the kitchen was closed, you should have eaten more at dinner.
I am grateful to see more parents returning to that type of healthy eating. More importantly I am impressed with your gratitude for all that you have in your life. God knows you and your family have waded through some pretty dark times.

I'm glad I at least figured it out by the time my son was 8 (he is 20 now), and from age 8 on it was bacon, sausage, eggs for breakfast. A packed lunch in a thermos (from whatever I cooked the night before). Then, each night I'd cook up dinner. Going out to eat was MAYBE two or three times a year! It was not deprivation, just eating out never made anyone feel good! Seriously it was ME cooking 3 meals a day! (sometimes heating leftovers of course)

As a grandmother looking back on my pregnancies and child rearing all I can say is the useless "I wish I knew then what I know now". If I had been willing back then to drastically improve my diet I might have given my 4 kids a better start. Two of my 4 kids are ADD and dyslexic and 3 have had issues with depression as adults. I also had 2 miscarriages. Can I prove any of this was due to my diet and less than healthy body? Not completely, but with what I'm learning it sure seems possible. I didn't feed them terrible as kids, but I sure could have done better !. I'm now trying to help myself feel better after many years of gobbling down sugar and garbage. I'm trying to share what I've been leaning with my kids so they can feel better and feed my 4 grandkids better...unfortunately it's falling on deaf ears. I appreciate how you are raising your family and the example you are setting. It's inspirational even at my age. I'm going to keep trying with my family and hope they will see me feeling better and take notice. Thanks for all you and Dr Ken do to raise awareness :)

Great Video! I am 56 years old and I wish my mom had known what I know now. But she didn't so I am trying to stay ketovore/carnivore. I don't look in the past because we have been lied to for thousands of years on nutrition. I look at it this way. You are the mom, these people saying these things are not, they are just opinions. You know whats best for your kids. I love your channel

Thanks for this video, Neisha! My child is 2 and you gave me the courage to be keto during pregnancy and to feed my child a whole food, low sugar diet since she was old enough to begin eating! She is smart, kind, and doing very well. I often have to defend these eating choices to those who are uninformed, but I know I'm doing the right thing and setting her up for good eating habits in the future. Thank you!
