Pat looks like very shy dude, but when he plays guitar his timidity becomes ferocity. one of the best.

Pat O'brien is very difficult to interview well. This one did excellent job.
***** What do you mean, really? I talked with him after the Cannibal Corpse concert here in Bulgaria and he was so friendly I can't even fucking believe it... It's very easy to talk with him.
Maybe normal conversation is better but it seems he's not that fond of coming up with answers to the most typical questions in musician interviews. I can't blame him :)
***** If I was him, I'd be tired of answering the same questions about my gear again and again too, I guess.

Though I am not a guitar player I would say that he brought something very unique into CC that caught me. Now that he’s out, one can clearly hear it. I would go that far and say a certain kind of groove. Hope he is doing well whatever he is doing.

And it works for him, imagine that. I remember years before the Metal Zone came out Boss'Heavy Metal pedal was what alot of people used. When the Metal Zone came out everyone loved it, couldn't get enough. C.C. is one of not too many bands that over the years has had a consistently good metal distortion tone.

As far as gauges, I don't know, but he used to play Dunlop Heavy Core strings. Don't know if he still does.

I love C.C to death but when i meet this guy last week in Lima was probably in a bad day.
Watching this now is sad, and very puzzling. I don't understand how someone who is so successful and seems so put together can go so far off the deep end seemingly out of nowhere.
I'll be fine legally. The state has no case without being able to prove intent and witnesses saying that you are hallucinating and having a psychotic break involving paranoid delusions absolutely blows a hole and the states chance of proving intent in the state knows this. He'll walk away with probation and psychotherapy. and the only way he would get probation is if there was a plea deal but that won't even happen with a really good attorney because no intent means no crime was committed despite the actions. It's not the act itself that is necessarily the crime but rather the intent with the actions. A man having a psychotic break does not have intent of a sane conscious mind. Criminal law 101 LOL

Pat always seemed like such a normal, down to earth dude -- prob some bad drugs that night , what a freakin drag
Mental breakdown and his flamethrowers leaked some gas and chemicals that make you trip out. And if he was on drugs he'd still be in jail. He had to pass a drug test in order to bail out.

@@elemental3066He passed the drug test to get out of jail under a bait. He was clean. It seems solely mental, a psychotic episode of sorts. He is now performing on stage with Exhorder. I miss him in CC though, but I have read that when it happened, the band immediately started looking for a new guitarist on permanent basis. That the underlying problems were always there but the band kept up with it because of how brilliant a guitarist Pat was, but this incident or however you name it, made them rethink the situation and jail/no jail situation didn't matter because he was out of the band immediately (not officially though). I have read it supposedly from someone who used to hang out with the band throughout the years quite a lot and witnessed/heard how Pat's mental issues got worse and worse with time. To me personally Pat is still my favourite guitarist in DM and I will keep supporting whatever he does. Also it pains me to think that stigma actually still exists in many areas, including metal scene, and specifically big labels... 😢

Looked like a tortex sharp 1.5 white one last night when i seen him
I have a pick of his from 2012, it's a max grip jazz, the red one, last summer at Mayhem fest I noticed him using black jazz picks (plain or max grip) and as said above recently he's been using white tortex sharp picks with the Cannibal Corpse logo on them, he changes it up a bit I guess

Maybe he'd run out of the red ones and got black ones or sth.
Now the Tortex, that's a switch!
This Tortex sharp 1.5mm is also used by Malmsteen and Pat's friend Jeff Loomis. Also Muhammed from Necrophagist used to use it.
Tried it and it does make the riffs sound more intense.
They change picks. But currently he's using tortex 1.5 sharps. He tossed me one and I laughed because it's the same pick I use.
Pat still uses the 1.5mm white sharp Dunlops to this day! My buddy caught his pick a couple of days ago here in Dallas!
